  • Among my top ten lists is Damascus. I love history. Forget politics. They are one of life's constants like death and taxes. I want to see a font of civilization. Old Americano!

  • Perhaps because he's an open minded individual who forms his own opinion instead of lapping up lies from the media

  • Only 5 days to go

Can't wait to check out Damascus!

  • Syria is an examplary and an idol of relegious tolerance (mosques & churches & other temples))

we r syrian muslims - christians and jewish who live peacefully side by side in a liberal community

anyone can does what he likes and prays the way he wants the times he/she wants

  • Syria was ranked as the 3rd country reagrding safety especially for tourists and foreigners

enjoy your trip and discover the oldest continuoesely inhavited capital on earth (Damascus)

  • LOAN YOU OUTFITS?...oh plz, i have been living in syria for 16 years now and no, not all people dress respectfully. in fact, very little people nowadays dress respectfully...god, when did this guy last visti damascus. a 100 years ago?

  • Is it safe in Syra? For an American.

  • @xreddreads420x

yes it is , although people are not so westernized there (which i love), but they distinguish very well between the American government and the people , and syria has always been the place where people would go for safet , FROM escaping jewish community from iberia , christian arminian , algerian , palestinian and they are all melted within the community a famous saying about syria (everybody has two homelands the original and syria)

  • I have been to Damascus on 2007 and what was said about women wearing a burg is not correct. They can go wherever they can it is just not polite to their religion's believe. That is all. I have been there with the Greek National Karate team and we had 6 women with us, so nothing realy happened where we were, to tha central market, to Sednaya, to old Damascus, we were free to walk and they never gave us any kind of advice not to.

  • Tony Wheeler is a brilliant travel advisor, and to speak about Damascus like this is wonderful. Damascus is a beautiful city and it deserves to be seen with the respect it deserves. Well done, Mr Wheeler.

  • well said :)

  • Good to see Damascus getting coverage, but i doubt he's been there for a while- the old US cars have almost disappeared under a flood of small imports and mini-buses. And he's wrong about the wine. Despite extensive research (heh, heh) I couldn't find good Syrian wine- but the beer is good. His basic advice is sound, though- see Syria soon, before the crowds discover it.

  • Nice video, but don't forget that there is a 10%-christian minority, so don't be surprised that you can buy alcohol there.

Moreover Syria is one of the few Arab countries that don't regard Islam as state religion.

  • BY THE WAY ...

Byblos in Lebanon seems to have been inhabited since about 7,000 BC.

Damascus or Dimashq, the capital of Syria is considered to be the longest continuously inhabited city as recent excavation has shown that it was inhabited as early as 8,000 to 10,000 BC, although it has not been written about as an important city until about 4,000 BC.

  • @Dieselboy88 typical lebanese hmpf

  • He should not be so much anti Christianity and so pro Islam. Muslims don't like homosexuals, remember.

  • Lebanese here Living in Canada, nice to see some good videos a country as beautiful as syria, great change from the usual Youtube stuff about our countries.

  • He forgot about the ice-cream in Damascus, how could he.

  • Byblos, LB is older than Damas

  • no dimashq is oldre by about 2,000 years.

    Byblos- 7,000 BC

    Dimashq-8,000-10,000 BC

    seriously, wikipedia it

  • @Felipo83 sorry its not check another typical lebanese

  • @Felipo83 sorry.. a punctuation mistake

"sorry.....its not, check it yourself, yet another typical Lebanese person, trying to prove that Lebanon is the best thing in the world come on ,check every video about Syria, in each you`ll find a Lebanese bashing the video for nothing, i don't care if you have the best walk, talk, laugh, smile,or anything you keep claiming,

just leave our videos alone. and its not made by a Syrian ,so why would he lie????

  • @trexaur123 i'm sure he's not, but i guess it's a factual error caused by an academic dispute. there are about 5 cities, who can claim for oldest city in the world. there is no proof.
