  • Mr. O`bannon was such a wonderful man. I am so honored to have met him! When he passed away, my mom took it pretty hard because she had been working for him for many , many years ! He had such a warm heart and great intelligence. Truly miss his this quirky man ! He was awesome !

  • I've been a huge fan of Mr. O'Bannon for years. RIP Dan you will be missed.

  • Don't worry, he'll be back... with a hunger for BRAAAAINS!

  • first ive heard that he passed away, rip m8 hes gone to that big studio in the sky.

  • I was surprised that you didn't mention Dark Star, which he co-wrote with John Carpenter (Carpenter's first film as a Director). The film is quite funny. Of course Alien and Return of the Living Dead are films everyone will remember him for. Cool that you mentioned them.

    R.I.P. Dan O'Bannon

    STAY AWESOME!

  • I have Dark Star which is John Carpenter's 1st film he made and Dan O'Bannon was a good friend of his and co-wrote Dark Star with JC after they graduated from film school.

  • I heard about his death last friday. No need to say, it changed my movie evening right away. I watched Alien.. RIP Dan. We will miss you. :(

  • People should make more videos like this one.

  • ROTLD wasn´t that the first movie that had running zombies in it, or at least they moved faster then we got used to?

  • Actuall the first movie to have running zombies was an Italian movie called Nightmare City, which 28 Day Later kind of ripped off.

  • @TheAltair4 Thanks for the answer. How could I forget about that.

  • Rest in piece sir ... your movies will remain forever in our hearts !!

  • i just read it a few minutes ago! FUCK! he was so great! awesome writer, awesome in everything he's done! i might do a review for ROTLD instead the planned one!

  • This is very sad news, Indeed. Alien and Return Of The Living Dead were classics. Of Course, we can't forget Carpenter's debut with Dark Star, which we also played Pinback. The movie industry has lost another talent. May he rest in peace.

  • RIP indeed. I loved his commentary track on Return. Also, his talks on the SE of Return is great. We lost a class act today.

  • Fuck.........

"Return of The Living Dead" is my all time favorite zombie movie.. hell, my favorite horror movie maybe.

  • The "Famous work"-list from Wikipedia: # 1974 Dark Star - writer, SF, editor, co-star # 1977 Star Wars - CGI # 1979 Alien - writer # 1981 Dead & Buried - writer # 1981 Heavy Metal - writer, Soft Landing and B-17 # 1983 Blue Thunder - writer # 1985 Lifeforce - writer # 1985 The Return of the Living Dead - writer, director, voice # 1986 Invaders from Mars - writer # 1990 Total Recall - writer # 1992 The Resurrected - director # 1995 Screamers - writer # 2010 Silvaticus 3015
  • Basically, as the years went by, his films sucked even more

  • actually he shares co-credit in terms of the writing of all the "Alien' films.

  • *nods* It is just a very incomplete highlight list..

  • agreed, the man did much more work over the years, and my hope is that people will seek it out. The history of his credit for Alien could be a documentary all its own.

  • just look @ imdb, the only movie i watched of his was Return of the living dead. the other titles sound like they would be good. i should check this out.

  • edit his Wikipedia...

  • Alien and The Return of the Living Dead are two of my favorites. What a great mind! R.I.P.

  • Sci-fi / Hollywood has lost a legend.
