Woolridge is laughing because he was playing off instinct. It wasn't until he left the ground that he realized "Oh, that's Michael Jordan. That was dumb as hell for me to jump. Now I look stupid! ha ha!"
Woolridge and Jordan were teammates in Chicago. He had 27 in that double overtime game against the Celtics when Jordan had 63 points.
Lots of bad blood between MJ and Woolridge back in the day. MJ was very jealouse of Wooldridge and Enis Whatley in the day, had them both traded and brought in his own step-n-fetch its, ie Pippen, Grant & Paxson.
I remember Shawn Kemp dunking on players, he helped them back up and they handchecked each other. Those were the times. Nowadays you only get to see ego driven media whores posing for the camera and trying to outplay each other with more spectacular stunts.
I love Jordan, and it's a great dunk, but I swear if I could I'd start a campaign to stop calling dunks like these "posterizing." This one's closer than some, because Woolridge was in position, sort of, but...IMHO, a true posterizing happens only when the dunker beats a defender (usually his) in good position, not when a guy comes over and tries to draw a charge or go for a desperation block after the dunker has gotten past his own guy. Otherwise, practically _everything_ is posterizing.
@emncaity Either your Woolridge behind that keyboard or you must be the biggest dickhead to ever watch basketball. He basically hammered O.W. ass back down to the floor and caught a And 1 on his bitch ass.
Yeah, those are the only two choices, alright, you genius.
If you can't read, don't blame anybody but yourself. It's not the amount of force; it's not the fact of a foul; it's whether the guy was in position and played real defense. Is that simpler?
@emncaity u have no idea what being posterized is all about. it is plain and simple... u get posterized when u get dunked on while trying to blocked the shot OR great moves that are captured suited for "poster's". it usually happens when playing "above the rim". this situation between MJ and wooldrige is the perfect example of such term.
The message of this video is not to Jump with Mj in his Prime, only player who I can think of today that you also shouldnt try to jump with and block his dunk is Lebron..

The best part of this video is when he misses his foul shot and his team doesn't get the rebound. MASSIVE FAIL. 8 foot tall guys can't make foul shots that 5 year olds can make.
Oh and ur purfect right? Your a fucking douche bag, I've a hundred free throws in a row but I couldnt play with these guys. Your point and logic are a MASSIVE FAIL.
Not perfect, but when I was 10 I was better at foul shots than any NBA player. Because the game isn't playing, it's who can get away with more fouls. What is the longest amount of time between uncalled travels in the NBA? 4 seconds? What a fucking joke.
"The committee instituted a 3-second rule for defenders in order to [prevent] teams from [parking taller players] in the [post]. The goal was to [free the lanes] & [encourage] cuts & drives through the paint. With those changes, among other factors, offenses have [opened up] & scoring has [climbed]."

Guys today excessively chuck up jumpers because they have bad shot selection due to their LACK of formal training on the amateur levels, not because of these pseudo zones

the reason they did it is true, but now that teams have adjusted to it it comes with its own difficulty, u must have never played against one thats why ur saying that . And plus u wanna somehow defend the one u worship.
I played against & have seen EVERY form of a zone, from a kid to my sophomore yr of college. As a kid, I regularly attended Sidney Moncrief's camps due to me knowing him PERSONALLY..he's from my old neighborhood..
"teams have adjusted to it"
I'd say...that's WHY teams (and players too) are scoring MORE vs them, than they were under the old ones LOL!!
naw man not only did they score more in this era but they played a faster tempo, only the pistons and the knicks shrunk the court like that. I played in highschool college and in some semi pro leagues where they played under nba rules, with the handchecking and illegal defense, It was impossible to guard anyone because of the space, u could get to the basket sooooo much easier, but hey we are never going to see it the same way
So lemme get this straight..U think it's "easier" to score with a guy handchecking & placing a bent forearm on U, while aggressively bodying U as well, which keeps U from "consistently" gettin' off open & clean looks/shots?
LOL!!
"Our rules are [designed] to [allow] players to [penetrate] for [higher percentage] shots. This has [allowed] for [more] high quality [perimeter] shots as well, because of how much [easier] it is to penetrate today."
i was more effective with the one on one physical play than i was with athletic guys crowding swarming and stacking the lane yes. U have to understand that in that run and gun era u can put alot of points on the board before the defense even got set. And for your info they still handcheck now even on the peremeter, they grab they hold its not much diff. Go to a game and sit close its more physical than u would believe,
I like how you back up your position and these young idiots struggle to back up their own. I'm with you, this is a pussy ass era of ball right now. I've seen the best brand of ball and it's not in this era. I see certain players that could've thrived back then, but that's less than a handful.
You'd think that these idiots would've figured out by now that if ALL of the evidence, facts & proof on the matter TOTALLY contradicts their "claims" & ALL they have are a bunch of "i think's/belive", while supporting them with a bunch of if's & coulda-shoulda-woulda's, that OBVIOUSLY, they're in the wrong LOL!!
Sadly with this generation though, the more U hit them with facts, the angrier they become & just "insist" they're right & ALL of the facts & those who present them, are wrong LOL!!
Feb 7 1990, Lakers 121, Bulls 103. Magic had 22pts and 17 assists. Jordan scored 32. Bulls lost 3rd game in a row in a 1-5 road trip. Lakers would win 63 games and get knocked out of the playoffs early. Bulls would reach game 7 of Eastern Finals and win the title the following season.
Thanks. I have this game and have been wanting to upload this dunk from the normal angle for a while. I've no clue why MJ's highlight videos feature this dunk from the different angle. It does no justice to how badly he posterizes Orlando.
I've waited to see this from several angles. Thanks for the upload! One of my favorite "poster" dunks ever and Woolridge smiling about it shows what a great sport he was.
I gotta agree with you there,it`s one of his best " in your face dunks "
