Cali is dangerous if u go with ur namebrand sneakers and clothes to show off... but if u go very simple not trying to look like u have wat u dont then its great, yes u cant hide the fact that there is a lot of violence dat goes on but dats mostly done to ppl who are involved with bad things, im sure that most ppl who want to go visit Cali are not going to go into bad neighborhoods so they shouldnt have to worry about anything

I was born there I went back after 18 years in my late twenties now, My family were always like telling me not to go you know, oh the robberies, the kidnapping, the danger I went 3 times now and All advice is that be with people you know , be carefull with strangers, don't be like alone at night in the street,always try to take taxies, and make sure you have enough money salsa dance a lot just enjoy the beauty around you...

@Musashi375 I have never had a single problem in Cali or anywhere in Colombia. Its helps to get to know some locals and have people you can spend time with. Just take normal precautions as you would in any city anywhere. Learn some Spanish and take an interest in theculture.

@Musashi375 A few other things to consider. Cali is not a holiday resort and it's reputation is more to do with the fun and friendly people. Two important things are - firstly to start learning Spanish and secondly learn to dance (salsa/cumbia/vallenato). I learnt very quickly in one night and genuinely like the music, culture and people. A good starting point for first timers in Colombia is Medellin.

@closedcircle1 - I understand what you said. I was married to a peruvian woman, I went to Peru and live there: it's not a rich country, not economically. I appreciated people and started to like latin people. I repeat, I know spanish (castellano); the only thing I didn't know is to dance :P

I want to go there not only for fun. Here in Italy we have a strange situation, you know. I feel an inside feeling call from Latin America, so I have to go to understand what it is.
