  • What if I want to play real games, edit videos, edit photos, download videos or photos from a camera, backup files to your hdd, run exe files. Its all not possible with this device, so you need to take 2 laptops with you. Then I reather install chrome to my pc and wait a couple of seconds more.

  • @geertzand The go buy a fucking PC and stop wasting your time watching videos for products you don't want.

  • It's can't do some thing, so it's can do some thing some other can't do, maybe like: Boot speed, Price, more Portable, more Simple to use. And, Design of Google, Content of Web. If lucky, It's good enough to draw lot of buyer and fan. Anyway, I love it, I love google, and I think this human of this video is really hot.

  • wil it play minecraft?

  • its hard to have privacy with all the user tracking

  • '...a certain task like playing music' - I didn't knew that this is a task, because normally I start iTunes hit play and do other things.

  • RIP Picnik.

  • fuck storing all your stuff on a "cloud" I'll never do that.

  • GOD DAMN THIS PATRONISING VIDEO...

  • @670Kiester see my vids& learn herbs like coriander, dill, dock, kelp ETC

  • Notice you don't see him actually using the Chromebook? You don't see how utterly SLOW it actually is! Everything takes WAY too long! Oh... but it looks like I already made my point a while ago.

It's really a shame these machines are so slow. A FAST Chromebook is what I really want, and no matter how much I look online for a better computer, the simple fact is that all I care about is the Internet.

I wish that Chromebooks came in a wider variety of hardware.

  • @evilturtle999 I would LOVE a Chromebook with an Intel i7 processor, if all that power would do any good. Google seems to think that enriching their applications so they all slow down is somehow the answer. Since they dared release a Chromebook that makes me WAIT for search results, Google News, Google+, and Gmail, it would follow that instead of getting further from HTML, they'd stick closer to it.

Did you know that ADS on YouTube actually make video STUTTER on this machine? Adblock it is.

  • today i have a chrome notebook for free. I download toolbox chrome

  • They might be ok, but for now they are overpriced. Might as well buy a nice laptop instead.

  • Using the stopwatch of my Casio calculator watch and my Samsung Series 5 Chromebook (plugged in) with a 25+ Mbps connection from Shaw Communications. All times start from one New Tab open and end until all flickering and loading completed. I am logged into associated accounts:

    5.46 secs YouTube

    15.5 secs Google News

    14.12 secs Google+

    6.7 secs Facebook

    2.6 secs Google.com

4 secs search of "chromebook" from omnibox

1 sec open New Tab (making two open)

    12.25 secs Gmail

    Google FAILbook

  • This only lacks 1 thing...

    A Wi-Fi Cracking software :P

  • chrome notebook is the best

  • And, just in case, no internet is available ? So this is just another brick uh ?

  • @brunofunny I'm sorry, but lots of people are mentioning this... But in most city's/towns there is wi-fi available, even from McDonalds! So I highly doubt that lack of access to the internet is going to affect most people.

  • Look, this notebook is pretty much for people who only use internet and basic applications and want to access them quickly. If you are a hardcore gamer or into photoshop or other major programs, then go buy an actual laptop. Not everything has to be built for YOU specifically.

  • @PivotyPivoty this argument works against you too...

  • IDIOT, BROWSER ISN'T AN OS, LINUX 4 EVER <3

  • Comment removed

  • This netbook will likely attract a lot of hackers, lol. Because, if people hack your email and password. They can access everything you putted on your account, using a Chrome OS.

  • @Techykabas lol the trick is dont put a silly password lmao and change it ever other week

  • Okay, my hard drive saves at 6gb/s. My WiFi is 20mb/s. That means that my computer can save 300 times faster then this laptop on local applications. That is reason enough for me to never ever touch this.

  • so wait is this thing good for porn?

  • @clubback That is literally all it is good for.

  • @clubback its called a porn machine for a reason

  • But will it blend...oh wait....

  • what a shitty fake notebook

  • This is such a boring concept.

  • pffffff easy...when you lose your chromebook just login to another one....just spend another $500

  • No wonder he isn't happy, HE LOST HIS FUCKING KITTY!

  • OH YEAH it would be so trival to lose a notebook

  • I think its cool but too far ahead of its time right now

  • Lol Cheese, Eggs, PingPong balls LMAO

  • He said "each tab opens as a tab"

  • am i the only one who thinks he's kinda hot? just sayin

  • I like this.

  • @DroidNoid Ohh I don't want to hate on Google but I have to admit, that's so true. I really think the Web Store is full of shit.

  • you know, youre gay

mac sucks apple just copies everything.

this thing is atleast a good idea and google doesn't give a fuck if u like so stfu

    so windows rules and google

  • @player3prime Didn't Apple/Mac come before Windows?

  • @player3prime Your logic is almost as incorrect as your sentence structure. Apple is easily the most innovative company the tech world has ever seen. Look at your computer. You see that there are pictures on it? Well guess who brought that to the consumer level first. Before apple, consumer level computer operating systems were just command line. Ever buy a song online? Ever used windows search feature? All due to apple. This notebook is a bad idea, like having you.

  • @brainslurper Before the Apple computer, all we had was Amy Grant and Dolly Parton to look at.

  • i have a friend who uses her $600 hp laptop for facebook, failblog, and and other general websites....this would be perfect for her.... so if its not for you thats fine, just stop hating on it... but there are MANY ppl who this would be perfect for.. i think it should be like $200 but still.

  • @sammymunir you're a fucking douchebag, stop hating on a nice piece of technology just because you probably can't afford it.

  • What If I Download a Game I Can't Friggen Use it Cause Its Only Browser How the Hell Do i Get to it!

  • WHY would they make a useless gay operating system? Windows and mac os x are the ONLY OS's that people want. Nobody wants some gay shitty operating system with bugs made by google.

  • @sammymunir a lot of people would want this actually..because of my needs i would have to go for a windows computer, but just for a casual user this would be great. Idk if it's buggy but if it is, it's to be expected..a lot of apple and windows OS have bugs.

  • i have a question what about itunes how can i use itunes to put music on my iphone with this

  • ?i wonder how i transfer or play file on my ex-hard drive..

  • @Michaelsphotoshow can you install GIMP on chrome os?

  • Can it be installed on a windows and work offline?

  • @Michaelsphotoshow HAVE YOU HEARD OF REAL DIGITAL ART PROGRAMS?

  • What I have to do when is my internet connection unavailable ???

  • This is such a stupid idea....

  • just wait to that get's hacked

  • See Ryan on 240p hahaha Lolzz

  • In a world, where the OFF button will turn off your computer without hurting it in any way shape or form.

  • There are many people who are against because of concerns about security... guys, you already are tracked and if big guys want something from you, nothing will stop come and take your *sure* hard drive :D

  • John Fuck U..?

  • Good luck running 3dmax or any heavy "app" to work.

  • hmmm press the power key i think mine does that in 8 seconds to turn off

  • I would get this, but it doesn't have iTunes.

But once iTunes finally is on the web, then I'll prob get this.

  • the first Google huge fail ?

  • ... As a person using a Chromebook, I have to say, you really can do most everything you could on a 'normal' laptop. I -can- draw pictures, and watch movies, and edit audio, and browse my flash drives, and write documents, and listen to music.

I just have to wonder, those that knock it, do they even try it first? xD

  • @ThePonola How about editing video and music? Let's say you are eidting a 200mb file... then how does it keep it sunced? And do I have to upload 200mb?

How about security? How do I know exactly where fysically my data are stored? On my local storage, I know 100% what is where. And noone but me have access to it, noone ever can have. I am a foregner. So if the US NSA, FBI or someone else wants to look at my data, they have access to mine? How do they protect my data?

  • @MsPwain

200MB?! I wouldn't know, I've edited before, but not 200MBs. xD Besides, if that were the case, then I don't think this product is marketed toward you anyway.

As far as security is concerned, if it's anything like the fine people at Sony has taught us, you can always put your trust on someone's else's server. :D But in seriousness, if you're editing 200MBs worth of child porn videos, the FBI needs to beat you up for it anyway. :3

  • @ThePonola Nono - I trust Google more than any other cloud provider... to the extend where I can still see a good reason for them not to trick me. But the big question is still, will it be as safe in the cloud as if I host my own data?

If I host my data and my computer gets stolen, I can blame only myself for the data loss. But if Google gets hacked? Or if they have to reveal my information to some government agencies? I might not even know it is happening...

  • @ThePonola It's not child porn. You know I separated the editing from the security. It is two different things. I have private things that are not illegal, if that comes as a surprise...

  • @MsPwain

Well, if that's the case, these things DO have a file manager for browsing through SD cards and USB drives.

(by the way, don't think I think your a pedobear, I was just sayin', I think they'd only reveal information if the FBI made them for reasons like that.) At least that way, you won't have to depend solely on the cloud. :>

  • As much as I love Linux, and want it to become more mainstream, I have to say... this seems kind of lame.

  • Maybe I'd buy this if it was like 70$. Its so fucking stupid. It can't use utorrent, or even watch movies. Its 300$ for a webbrowser.

  • @Zergscoasters

it cant watch movies ? Why ? Try Netflix or an external DVD/BlueRay drive.

  • can i use itunes and windows movie maker? wich computer should i buy, the chromebook or the dell inspiron15? please any suggestions?

  • @arigaby9 Between those two I would say the Inspiron. The Chromebook is good for pretty much only the web.

  • @jayySC2

Web = everything for most of the population anyway, so dont buy it if its not for you (its not for me either).

  • @jayySC2 ok thanks ;)

  • But I do all of that on my windows 7 computer using Google Chrome web browser... and can play WOW, and other games...

  • I personally was lucky enough to take part in the beta project. The laptop was great and i had all hope on getting the final version. The average price is $400 for one. i was like, no. Personally you should by any other laptop and install the OS on it for free if you want to do so. It will be cheaper and the OS is Linux based so itll be free. the laptop wont be as fast but it will still work like one

  • Can I store pictures of my naked girlfriend without google looking at them? :P

  • i still like my mac book pro still way better

  • @BuilderColin I'd rather get a new real PC laptop with real programs /and/ chrome.

  • @BuilderColin Do you know how HORRIBLE that is!? its... HORRIBLE. do you really think an in browser program could compete with Sai or PS?

  • WHERE DA FUCK IS ITUNES!!!

  • @1lilwatcher itunes sucks anyway in fact it is the worst software i have ever used and if you want to use windows linux or yes even mac (hackintosh) you can dual boot chrome OS. It could be useful for travel because it will not eat up your battery and if you want to look up something quick or for people who only want to watch youtube videos and use facebook but hate tiny screens lol.

however if you love itunes it shows me you have no idea what you are talking about.d

  • @JDHIII3 i think... you overstate.

  • @JDHIII3 Right, we'll just buy music for out MP3s on some illegal sight...

  • @JDHIII3 hoooold up jack its about personal preference not if i know what im talking about itunes has nothing to do with dual booting or travel ITS A FREAKIN MUSIC LIBRARY PROGRAM WHERE U STORE MUSIC VIDEOS AND MOVIES jeeez and wat da freak is hackintosh dont u mean mackintosh and dont try to school me about this if i dont want it I DONT WANT IT....... i tunes........awesome....u......dont try to school me homeboy and i m watching my language if i tell u to kiss my fucking butt

  • @1lilwatcher You honestly look illiterate and/or uneducated from that post, just sayin'.

  • @jayySC2 You can honestly suck ma ballz, just sayin

  • I cant play need for speed on this shit !?

  • Photoshop? Paint? Sai? MY ARRRRRRRRRRTT OnO

  • @AAAwesomenesss I don't understand your comment. I own sai and PS, but I'm pretty sure they would still work on the chromebook

  • @DrSulfurious Non, Sai and PS are both programs that run separately from the internet. they are not in-browser programs. the Notebook is ONLY the internet. you wouldn't be able to open naything because there would be no option to. its JUST the internet.

  • @AAAwesomenesss I'm sure they'll make an online version.

  • @thefalcon636 LOLno, you really don't understand the limits of the internet.

  • @AAAwesomenesss This isn't for artists. It's for people who simply use the internet. (like my mother, for example)

  • that means i can watch porn on my friends chrome laptop and he won't ever know it

  • why not just use Windows and get Chrome if you want? I don't understand the point when you can use a complete OS

  • Haha! That is like giving Google all your clothes and expecting then to ensure you aren't naked at any given time!

  • That...is...a...nice...CAMERA!!!!!

  • hey ryan

  • itune is shit

  • WHAT IF I WANNA PLAY WORLD OF WARCRAFT!!! IM PANICKING!!!

  • @alex11bailon the OS is for those who mainly use internet browsers... not gamers, at least not hardcore gamers

  • @mageshino i didnt ask for an answer -.-

  • nadie comprara esta basura . esta ves no estoy con los de google

  • Yaaaay! Now google can scan all my private life! Thanks! Really, this is so dumb... You have to protect your private life before the internet! Well, this cloud thing is useful, but i want that my private datas are safe before others... And what's happening if someone finds out my my account name and password? Yeah, then i'm fucked up...

  • Despite what you may think of chrome OS, the fact is ever since that 2009 demo everyone is scrambling to rip them off.

  • @blaynestaleypro OK, so Google seems to have a good idea.

    Then WHAT about security?

How can I trust that the data I give Google (which are essentially EVERY data) are stored safe? And how they are used or not used?

I can not control that myself. So I do not know. And THAT is the reason for me not to use it. Not at Google, not at ANYONE. I would be scared to death of my privacy. For me security is EVERYTHING.

(That is why I run Linux, NOT Windows, BTW).

  • @MsPwain You're right. Security is a huge issue. I find is disconcerting as well. TO have all my personal data stored on a cloud... it's fucked... all I'm saying is that everyone seems to be ripping googleOS off.

  • @blaynestaleypro

Only reason I can think of is, that Facebook and Google services (and LOTS of reality shows on TV) have already taught us, that in the future we will have no privacy anyways.

  • @blaynestaleypro

thank god I am not the only one who hates the cloud idea. Local storage forever !!!

  • So this is basically a thin client utilizing the internet.

  • It really looks like technology is gonna dumb down people

  • What is Chrome OS based on? Linux?

  • waitwaitwaitwaitwha- "restored from the CLOUD?! ur copying apple"

  • @SuperPikachuDude a lot of things use cloud, they are not really copying anyone.

  • @SuperPikachuDude more like apple copying google... and scambling to do it.

  • Yet my computer is still faster when it's windows 7. I WIN.

  • I can get this free on my pc chrome os is googles fail waste of money

  • What about games and programs we want to download?

  • Great Concept..but, everything I do relies too much around Windows/Linux because I, like most people, rely on more than the internet. Actually, excluding Youtube and a few forums, I don't use it much, if any...

@Hackbooster, Wait, when can you not do that? Except for Vista/7 on default settings (Atleast, that's how mine was..Originally)

  • i think it is a good job

  • so if i don't have internet I'm completely screwed?

  • does it support ethernet connection?

  • I certainly think this is a novel and interesting idea. It's great for older people and for those who travel a lot but don't want to fork out for a tablet like the iPad.

  • @PeteAnimation I agree. The only people who will like this OS are prehaps old people, I can't see it taking off big style. Good 1ST try though, Google!

  • so if you lose your chrome notebook, you can just buy another one and continue with the same account

  • @taradocotorro92 This is the point of this. They want to watch every move, what you did. They want to know about everything. For example, you made a totally secret new designed Minesweeper, and Google will know it faster than you...

  • Of course, Google's whole business case assumes that you're regularly connected to the web. Most of the world isn't...which is why Microsoft will keep kicking their arses globally.

  • love the beginning...

    HI! I'm Ryan.

  • his eyes keep crossing.

  • b-b-but iTUNES!!!!

  • @zombieohmygosh is shit...

  • @zombieohmygosh What about iCloud? You won't really need it anymore. Besides, I'm sure Apple will make an online iTunes to go with iCloud and ChromeBooks.

  • i find the laptoop and chrome OS verry limitted and claustrophobic, a smart phone can do that easly.

  • is a there a 3d Studio Max web app?

  • is there a Final Cut Pro web app?

  • @MoldytoasterMedia

Can you imagine how much bandwith that would use in a month? Everytime you hit "save" to make sure you have a back up of your project (cuz maybe your internet connection could be lost) you soak up more bits.

Cloud computing web based operating systems are for the hipster puds who don't know what they will be giving up because they have no attention span or knowledge to do anything for more than a month or two. but they will buy it like crazy when it is THE NEXT KEWL THING!

  • @PPCLOCK honestly if think it could work for a lot of people. Seems great for schools, and people who only do very basic things. For example my grandma...

But for getting real work done, seems like more harm than good.

  • @MoldytoasterMedia

Yeah.... Have fun explaining to her why she can't send the 9000000 videos and photos she has. and can't watch the family videos (due to bandwidth caps). Or even better why she can only use "the good stuff" when she has a good connection to the internet.

This relies way to much on an imperfect over priced service.

Now . If Google actually gotten the signal spectrum they bid on a couple years back, whole different game.

  • This will provide a very niche presence; I can't honestly think of anyone who would want this product. This platform isn't for most people and it won't be able to compete with platforms like the Asus Transformer, or the Acer Iconia, both running the Android operating system. I think this product will be a flop and their application and OS development should dovetail into Honeycomb instead... it's simply a better model. Sorry, guys...

  • @Aaronus23 And what about Visual Studio, PowerShell, Photoshop and the litany of other perfectly good programs for my PC that will not come to this platform. I think this is a machine trying to find a niche use; and competing with another Google product, the Android tablet. I think this will fall flat, unfortunately. I think the people who will be looking at this will also look at the Transformer/Iconia and think this isn't what they want...

  • @DroidNoid Tether it to your Droid, DroidNoid!

  • this is awkward to listen to because there is no music

  • Hey its Spence from King of Queens lol

  • Apps... everything is apps... storing and syncing everything into... the internet? What the hell will be the price of this thing?

  • @Sonicandratchetfan 429 for no 3g 499 for 3g adapter. it's a crapbook... if you're in west virginia, under the Appalachian Mountains.. this is pointless. it's pointless anyway because it's only got 16gb of storage

  • @RicachetX I live right next to whales, lol.

  • yeesh... he actually asked me out and then slept with me

  • I am so getting this.

  • Of all the things that Google is doing, I think this was a mistake.

  • will it work offline?

  • @Aaronus23 search for kodingen in web apps

  • @Aaronus23 learn html/php/css or whatever other language for that matter like a real web designer.

  • i want one so badly..!!

  • No internet connection=useless

  • @Net2542 it has 3g lol

  • Chrome Notebook is now called Chromebooks, which is the same OS running on other notebooks. Who is Chromebook powered is Acer, HP. Chrome OS is bulit-in with Verizon Wireless (May vary) so you can access your file and folders anywhere!

  • They Used Windows 7 Changed Skin Hide ICON and Delete Icon feture and taskbar feature and make keyboard without CTRL + ALt + DELETE stuff and disabled all windows 7 stuff Just put Black Mouse Cursor

  • AWESOME

  • Looks like a piece of shit; I'll stick with windows.

  • that guy needs drama lessons

  • I'm loving the idea of chrome OS and want the samsung series 5... But come on, no caps lock?..... The search key could've been put on the function row....
