The problem with computers is that they're made for what makes sense to the creators not the users. It's a nice attempt but i believe the interface should be modeled on the real world or maybe skip the interface and just have the computer answer questions and take orders like the ones they ask their grandchildren with their voice - do i have mail? - what's the weather? tell elaine the birthday party starts at 8! wake me up at 9 LOL
Seriously my parents particularly my mom finds eldy impossible to use. You have to remember SOME older people are locked into 1950 and what they see on the screen has to be the same analog world their used to - for example a Power Icon will never mean anything to them even tho they 've been looking at it constantly since the 70s. Nor does exit mean anything on the screen unless they want to leave the room.
thats why I'm creating a linux distro specifically for the elderly! with big icons, java, flash and eldy installed by default, based on linux mint, it is perfect for the elderly!
