Saw them open for Doobie Brothers at Alpine Valley, WI... talked my way up the the 7th row on the promise of leaving when the main act (for everyone else) took the stage... I was out of the parking lot before the Doobies were even into their 3rd song... fantastic but sad since I thought that was the last time I'd get to see them... overjoyed at being able to see them multiple times since (and meet them backstage before the show on a dare)

I love this band. I live in Poland, and the first time i heard them was in the eighties, when I was 13 or 14 years old. Some guy in a radio presented the American bands, totally unknown in our country. I recorded a tape with the album "Good news and the bad news". It was love at the first sight (or hearing). I still have this tape, although it is almost totally unplayable.
First of all thanks for posting this music. I never get tired of this band. Even if the total views are smallish, don't fret. This band just won't die. We are finding them again after all this time. I share my LP's, Cassettes and CD"s by them with all of my friends and their reputation grows bigger and bigger. Keep posting here and sharing the music.
I too went to NWMS, and when they played in the small ballroom ( 86') it was magic! Everyone there knew every song. zee, I'm glad you're keeping up. They're our U2. They said something, unlike bands now. They took a side. They spoke for a generation of mid-western kids.
The rainmakers are my favorite band. Great music, great musicianship and amazing lyrics. Bob is currently back in Maryville MO (graduated from NWMSU in 78) painting a mural on the side of Maryville Florists. Hoping to stop and say hi tomorrow!
Bob Walkenhorst is still the man here in the Kansas City area! New music is out with the release "No Abandon." with Jeff Porter. Won't see the Rainmakers anytime soon, maybe never again?
I production designed this video! I traveled from New York to Kansas City with the director and producer in the spring of 1989. It was shot on a sunday in Lawrence, Kansas. The band members panicked when the realized they were in Kansas on a sunday and there was no beer to be had. Sent a gofer back across the state line to Missouri to slake the thirsts. Thanks for posting this.
It's so weird that I just got done listening to "My Chemical Romance" (who I really like), this just really still speaks to me. I hope I never get too old to listen to new music, but I get the feeling there's a lack of apprecitation for the stuff that's not "Van Halen" or "ACDC", (spelling?)
Sorry you had to spend some quality time in Kansas. I am sure Bob made you feel out of place in a foreign land. Sorry it was so awful for you. LOL. I am glad you did not have to film in IRAQ.
That was "Rockin' at the T Dance" from "The Rainmakers", their first album, 1984. Doesn't appear to be on this list. The band disbanded in '98 Bob Walkenhorst plays weekly at the recordbar in West Kansas City. Glad you came back! Corey
I live in the KC area so I'm hoping to see them perform in the next few weeks. Bob Walkenhorst and Steve are simply amazing. I love their Music a lot.
I came across the Rainmakers in Blacksburg, VA courtesy of my buddy's long-gone girlfriend who was from KS. Love these guys, wish they would resurface on the East coast. Thanks for the memories.
Where have you gone Rainmakers. What a crime these guys aren't legends. How about a reunion guys. Classic stuff. Time for a Greatest Hits release!!!!!
Awesome video, awesome song. This helps me appreciate what a terrific band The Rainmakers were and what a wonderful talent and song writer Bob Walkenhorst is.
Mine too. I actually did see them 7 times, and their breake up consert in Oslo(Kalvøyafestivalen) was awsome. God how i would love to see them back together again.

I grew up listening to this, not even knowing the artist's name.
Now I finally happen to look it up and it's only got 16,000 views in 3 years?
I am so disappointed.

Great GREAT band. First couple of releases were pure gold. Who said everything in the 80s was shit? The Rainmakers were something else.

One of my fave bands. First heard them in early 1987 and got absolutely hooked. "Long Gone Long" could have been written about my hometown.

That FM radio never picked up on these guys in the 80's and 90's drove me away from any confidence that FM mainstream radio knew anything.
