Pandora brought me here.... this dude MURDERED Marvin Gaye's - Inner City Blues! I thought it was Marvin himself if it wasn't for a few subtle nuances in his voice.
i love marc broussard and this is his worst song. it sucks he had to remake an al green song to get any airtime. he literally has 20 songs better than this
@Chrisfathead And saying this is his worse is saying something because this is a pretty good rendition. BUT I LOVE MARC BROUSSARD! I've been a fan since 2004.
Already a fan of Marc and his incredible voice...even a bigger fan after seeing this video. Nothing against the guys who get all the attention but, a voice like this should definitely be out there more than it is.
I grew up with Marc, Everyone always said he'd make it big in music. Granted we weren't Good good friends, I'm sure he would remember me. My girlfriend and me would always go to his shows at the crawfish fest and mardi gras at Cajun field. Alot of his songs are the soundtrack to My younger years
this guy has more talent in his little pinkie than any of the high pressure blitz marketing, Facebooked Disney talent ghosts who scare the radio zombie dj's
But its good to get the younger people exposed to great music. Maybe one day someone will say, "He didn't originally write that song". Then maybe a new youngling will then learn who Al Green was. I don't think it's such a bad thing.
Oh hell why hasn't he blown the lid off the entertainment industry???? Saw a write up in the Dallas Morning News and decided to check him out. Itunes is about to get overheated!! Checked out his song "Home". Freakin rocks!
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
you can hear the bayou soul...however he speaks that soul is born and bred in him. It comes straight from the dirty swamps. those beautiful dirty swamps!
Nothing original. Al Green did arrangements and vocal inflections first and better. Compare Aretha's "Don't Play That Song" to the original by Ben E. King, same with her version of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Wilson Pickett totally flipped "Hey Jude" with Duane Allman's help. This is no different than Mary J. Blige singing over Rose Royce original track.
@luvureally Damn, you seriously can't just shut the fuck up and listen to the song. Wow, so what if the arrangements are the same. Maybe he didn't wanna mess up a good thanggg. Calm down. He sounds awesome!
Amazing how the Holy Spirit can sing right on through Al Green and then this "white"boy!!! "Love and Happines...see each other all the way with victory"
I saw this video on VH1 soul and fell totally in love. This dude has an amazingly beautiful soulful voice. And the video is sooo cute! Why is it that those who are truly gifted musically rarely become megastars, but ppl like Akon, whose voice makes me cringe, makes millions? Pish! Buying his album...doing my part!
I wish he would get more air play. Having been in radio for the past 17 years, the politics of the business get in the way entirely too much! It's sad to see talentless pieces of crap like Justin Bieber get all of the attention!
@AMOUTDOORS I really feel you, however, Justin Bieber is just a child, but the kid can sing. His vocal potential is head and shoulders above Marc's at his age. But yeah, the kid gets on my damn nerves.
@AMOUTDOORS Listen, bitch you can't just go and put down other artists. Fuck you. Justin is awesome and so is this guy. Justin HAAAASSSSS soul! And has talent. Can't you say something nice about one person without insulting another. Just becus YOU don't like him doesn't mean he's talentless. Calm your tits, this type of music isn't going anywhere so stop crying about it.
@amrthediva I agree. Though NO ONE could ever replace the original, this is pretty damned close right here! When I first heard this, I thought, "Damn, vh1 soul is playing old hits. That's cool." Imagine my surprise when I see this young white guy singing. I was wowed.
His stage presence is almost overwhelming! He really feels his music and he sings, the audience feels what he's singing about. It's like you feel exactly what he's feeling.
Oh, no doubt, Al Green remains the master, but this is the best version of the song I've heard since David Sanborn's version from his live album STRAIGHT TO THE HEART.
Marc is the man. I met him in Louisville Kentucky. He is one of the most humble nice guys I have ever met. Mind you I maybe drunk writing this, still this boy has soul you should never question.
boring what's the point. i can see playing this live but to go to all the trouble of recording and a video that can't come close to al green I just say whatever..
Wow! A friend just told me to look this guy up.. <3 it! Just went through a bunch of his other stuff before I came across this one...sounds just like Al Green imo!!
Been loving him for years!!! More people should know this man!! He is all over. Sang the song for the NBA finals last year. Baddest white man I know!!!
Holy Mithras. Why is this guy not ALL OVER. It has been a LONG time since I have enjoyed a voice so much ,without the intervention of some form of Some plant*smirk* .We are playing this guy all over Vail,Aspen and Denver! Rock on with your bad self!
Very few people could do this cover as well as Al Green. Awesome stuff. It is one of my all time favorite tunes. Al Green is still the king. But it is nice to see that soul does come in all shapes and colors. Here is a perfect example. Hall & Oates is another.
Good cover, but I still think Al Green fills the gaps better using the keyboard and horns, it just feels more fluid. But really, really accurate cover that does the original justice.
Damn my brutha, Al Gren has got to be proud of you! Great to know Soul music is not dead. Now if we can just get it back on Top 40 Radio again. Also enjoyed the remake of Stevie Wonder's "You Met Your Match" I never thought anyone could do it like Stevie did, you may have done it better!
It's just recently I've heard this song at a bar...I finally had to watch the monitor to see who's doing the singing. Flipping heck, I'm so bloody impress and I've gott'a track down this CD. I've never heard of this bloke up until now... Rev Al Green, stand back...Marc Broussard in now in the house. Great sound mate...
Omigosh, I listened to this CD *all* day driving around in my car. So full of awesome! Hopefully I can find some more vids from this CD of Marc's! He deserves *so* much more play time on the radio, his talent is *amazing*! Thanks for posting this :) 5*s and it's getting a solid spot in my Playlist. Not that I'm a YT star but if just one person benefits from his music, job done! Thanks again!
Love this version. Does anyone know the barre chords he is playing during the chorus? I've seen tabs that suggest he's playing D7, C7, and B, but it doesn't look like that's what he's playing here.
Dude, you don't even have the roots right, tell him to go have his ear retuned. The roots are E, Eb, Ab and that matches the basic fingering. As for exactly what version of the chords, I don't know WHICH E and Eb he's playing without doing a little homework but the Ab looks pretty much straight up Ab major.
Well, I don't know what He's playing on the video, but the chord arrangements are E9, Ebmaj, Ab.
