If it does not start with "J", those were assembled in the U.S., and the defective part were made of a cheaper sub-standard grade that would not have been used in Japan's assembly. I found that out from someone who's 2009Corolla isn't a recall for that reason. So Mr. Toyoda isn't the one who should be apologizing.

They aggressively captured the electronics markets years ago by selling at loss here and then raising prices later after driving competitors out. They leapfrogged the car learning curve by improving existing car systems. The problems experienced will be solved soon no doubt.
