This is my new favorite song in the world.. I first heard that lyric, and I thought "OMG finally someone else who feels this way" it isn't about not supporting the troops, it is about the fact that we do not support what they are fighting for and the fact that they are being fooled into thinking they are fighting for a good reason.
I swear she was in my head when she wrote this lol.

When Ani dies, and I certainly hope it is not very soon, she will be cried over as one of the Best Poets of our time. I am looking forward to bringing my 8 year daughter to one of her concerts one day. LONG LIVE ANI!

I love Ani dearly and have for many, many years. This song sounds great, but what is with the "I can't support the troops, cause every last one of them is being duped" lyric? Am I the only one that is little thrown by that line? Ani always seemed like even though she is against the war she supported the troops and I just feel maybe I'm missing something here. Anybody?

I'd guess since they are being duped to enlist in the first place. Maybe she doesn't support the whole process of the government preying on the poor to get them to fill the front lines. (One example).

I take it like they're being duped into a war for oil. They're being duped into thinking they're actually fighting for a good cause. It's my favorite line of the song and quite possibly of the whole album. It's like she read my mind with that line. When I first heard it I just said, "Thank you, I'm not the only one that thinks that!"

I love this song... since I heard it for the first time in '06 at her concert... but I really prefer her live recordings to the studio sound!
