  • thats incredible how smoth all of these instruments work with his voice

  • Ray Croc, Walt Disney and Hugh Hefner were ordinary men of the 20th Century who changed the world in a purely American way. If you have contempt for them then you have contempt for humanity who made them rich by buying what they sold.

  • This is a terrific song --- would love to see it performed live.

  • MK is soooooooooooooooooooooo sexy, luv him

  • was never a Dire Straits guy but damn this is a great song

  • I feel like a burger - yeah!

  • Can any1 tell me the album/CD this may be on plzzz/thanx

  • @leejakemc Shangri-La it was released in 2004

  • Oh the irony....there's a McDonalds ad beside the video player.

  • He is God. Period.

  • I remember hearing him play this in a radio interview a few years ago. I thought it was great then and now too

  • Mi piace..........................sempre.

  • Laid back vocals, laid back lyrics, awesome music. Tell me - Justin Bieber or this, seriously?

  • Mark Knopler, one of the best that ever was!!!

  • Love the "golden arches" at the end.

  • I've heard a few people say they don't like Mark Knopfler because he has a "boring guitar style". I just can't see how these people don't get what Mark is about, every one of his songs are incredibly well composed, with fantastic, interesting, textured guitar most of the time.

Mark is a true guitar hero that occasionally gets lumped into 80s rock by ignorant people who think Dire Straits are shitty 80s rock without checking out for themselves..

Music owes Mark respect. Why aye man!

  • @SimZepp I agree. Guitar playing is not about who can play fastest. If that was the case, Joe Satriani would be a guitar god, not Eric Clapton. When I have to justify why Dire Straits is one of my favorite bands to a skeptic, I simply put the first Dire staits disc on a high fidelity stereo system. (not an I pod). So many people have never heard that album all the way through.

  • @SimZepp I see people comment so often about how crap vocals he is It drives me nuts! Mark uses his voice as it is and makes it masterful. He contrasts his rough voice so damn perfectly with that godlike guitar purity, sometimes he even finishes sentences with it. It blows my mind. His voice is his songs and his songs are his voice. That's why cover bands can never get it right.

  • Thanks for posting. Great song

  • :D I'm like 14 and into Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits, thank the Lord i'm not into Miley Cyrus or N Dubz ;)

    i'd probably get pregnant if I was ;) or even become a lap dancer? (;

  • i heard a second version of this song when he loops the these guys bought a heap of my stuff part. i thought it def had a really good tune but i was let down by the lack of lyrical power..good thing i found this version with the full lyrics.

  • Definitely one of my favs. Peace.

  • Wow, there are actually 11 people who thumbed this vid down. I CANNOT respect their opinions...

  • is this song about rent boys?

  • @TelfLad I don't know what rent boys are, but this song is about McDonald's. Ray Kroc was the founder of the chain, and he 'stole' the concept from two brothers who owned the first McD restaurant...

  • @PaleKidNO If by "stole" you mean franchised. There was no stealing there.

  • @schub1111 Why do you think I used the quotation marks? In the beginning, he had the rights and approval of Dick and Mac McD., but he kind of fucked them over. That's why many people feel like he stole it

  • thanx for the up:)

  • Great song :D

  • This song is really nice and chilled sometimes that's what you need to chill out with

  • love mark knopfler but what a ropey video!" Why are they sitting in someone's spare bedroom recording? what's with the wandering up and down the beach?

  • @ElectricRay They are in someone's spare room. It just happens to be Mark's recording studio that he has in his house.

  • isnt this song about the founding of mcdonalds?

  • @RainSpy14 yep!

  • scotland FTW !!!!!!

  • wonderfull.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE this guy....awesome song.

  • i saw him live yesterday

  • @soadissoamazing what was he like? I've got tickets for the end of May to see him. Will be my first time. Did he play any Dire Straits stuff?

  • @CDOCT81 he was great. When I saw him he was sitting because he pinched something in his back. And yes he did play a good amount of dire straits stuff. That was my first time seeing him play live but I'm hoping i'll see him again.

  • what a mighty choon .thats why he's one of the true guitar legends.

  • Who knows what guitar mark using here?

  • @chaifjuice the guitar knopfler is playing is either a 50's or 60's origional "Danelectro Hornet series" which is obviously discontinued or a reissue of the Hornet called a "Danelectro Dead on '67" Danelectros are a novelty brand that had great shapes and sounded unique because of the "lipstick pickups" . They were called this because the origional danelectros had pickup covers made with lipstick tubes. Keep jammin' DW

  • @cobradavid1967

    thanks

  • Another good one.

  • Friggin absolutly brill!!!!!

  • @albie1331 thank you thought i was the only one out there who knew just listen to the lyrics, i know you do but some don't.

  • @albie1331

what does btw and ftw actually mean?

  • @zoofyjr btw = by the way & ftw = for the win

  • FTW means Free Tequila Wednesdays

  • The man has class! He has the gift- It's no wonder Chet Atkins chose to him to pair up.

  • Amazing Song! ^ ^

  • Awesome ... just awesome ...

    btw, what does S.O.B. mean?

  • Great Song ... so relaxing ...

One question ... what's a "S.O.B"? (Sometimes you gotta be a SOB, wanna make a dream reality...)

  • its the polite way of saying Son of a Bitch.

  • MK just never disappoints / never sold out, just keeps on his excellent path. thanks.

  • @YooperG Mark keeps his constant high performances with the aid of Guy, Richard and Glenn, check back over the years and see how long they been around !!

  • fantastic...simple but it goes inside you!mark is fantastic..

  • agreed ... word for word

  • i'm thinking that this song's drug! :):):)

  • i love this peace tooo the godz of guitar :)

  • In case you're not a fan of the lyrics, allow me to illuminate them. The song is about Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald's. He got started in San Ber'dino, California. That help, lolusernames?

  • Yes he still got it, and he will until he dies. That man is a Legend.

This song just cleans my head of all the shit-music in this world...

  • the man still got it

  • Thanks Mark Knopfler for this melody... It is the sound of my life

  • KROC STYLE ~ Boom like That! Gotta Love Ray Kroc's Ambition, Determination, and Legacy.

  • Star Struk7,

This page is about Knopfler...Fantastic song, based on Kroc's own book......Now about your admiration of KrocKroc.....

Fuck Ray Kroc...He's just part of the downfall of our civilization, like Sam Walton. Homogenization and conformity and destroying other Americans in the guise of "providing a service" is not admirable in any way. He's no Edison.....A greedy, cunning asshole pure and simple.

  • this is a perfect description of how Ray Kroc built up McDonalds...

Sometimes you gotta be an SOB... you wanna make a dream reality

  • Rock On!

  • hah 0:48 u can see he have a candy in his mouth:P

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

    Perfeeeeect *---*

    sensacionaaaaal

    nice song nice song!!!!

    from brazil

  • I open up Firefox and listen to this song every time i start the computer...

I need to get all the bad "music" that is in this world now out of my head.

  • i freakin' love mark knopfler!!!! this song is one of my favorites!!!!!

  • Love this song :D

  • My body is shaking when im listening to the song....

  • you must mcshakes, want fries with that? lol

  • you have got to be kidding. absolutely. no one writes songs about the founder of mcdonalds.

  • Trovo che sia stupenda!!!

  • I think Illsley was the ideal bassist for MK. They got on really well, and had a vibe. I'm sorry not to see him playing with Mark now.

  • Mark knopfler, U and johnny cash is the best music artists ever seen on this earth. And it will stay like that.

  • Very good:) Boom Like That:)

  • la guitarra q utiliza el guitarrista rítmico es de mark nknopfler...una strato roja auténtica de 1965...suenan increíbles...

  • Una bomba !!!

  • isnt he always on a fender stratocaster? ... or was it just back in the days?

  • he uses a variety of custom guitars made by small luthiers as well

  • this is da good st0f. Quick question though, what the fruit guitar is that?!

  • danelectro

  • looks like a fender all the tuners are on top

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure an MK custom Fender Telecaster, the Danelectro models tend to have the tuners lower, and look a tad more futuristic. Plus look at the width of the neck, though that can be also switched if you got the cash.

  • One of my fave MK songs. Amazing musicianship and fantasic lyrics. He's just fucking brilliant.

  • Is he playing on a Dano?

Too bad they don't make them like they used to. :(

  • Ladies and genltemans...this is quality!

  • mark !!!! el mejor de todos !!! genio , humile , bajo perfil , excelente musico y mejor persona aun.

  • legend!

  • Dire Straits Rocks!

  • Mark...If you ever need a really good drummer buzz me ;)

  • you'll just overplay it...

  • KellyA... Me too. I have been a Mark fan since the very first time I heard Sultans back in 1978. And since Golden Heart came out, he has moved to #1 on my list of favorites, surpassing my ex-number 1, Bob Dylan, who is spending most of his time on the road these days abusing his audiences with crappy piano and completely mumbled and inaudible vocals. Mark loves what he's doing, and he does it beautifully time after time after time!

  • Me 3

I used to have all my bedroom walls plastered with MK/ DS

I lost interest after Brothers in arms because there was such a huge gap between albums. I thought it was really unfair to leave the fans in wilderness for so long. But Im getting back into my MK roots again. :)

  • nothing rappy about his piano.

  • Awesome song. Been following Knopfler since I first heard "Sultans of Swing" in '78 while coming back from football practice, which blew me away, this does, too.

  • Another brilliant song from Mark Knopfler. Only a genious like MK can write such masterpieces. Thaaaaaanks.

  • Mark Knopfler ist einfach ein lebender Gott !

Texte und Musik passen einfach 100% zusammen :D

Dank Mark habe ich vor 6 Jahren angefangen Gitarre zu spielen...

  • This is great song, MK rules!!

  • bout Ray Kroc Mc D's guru...

  • god damn this is a good song!

  • This is how a song should sound!

  • it´s magical to me and for u guys too right?

  • Yes I like that one tooooooo !!!!

  • pure genius, mark is the best guitarist ,that s it........thanks for posting....

  • Fabulous

  • After googling....

San Bernadino was the place where Roy Kroc first opened a Mc'Donalds dinner...he was also a pianist and a milk shake mixer saller...Counsidering that...ring a ding ding and Sinatra makes more sense.

  • Is it really a song about a Mc'Donalds? I thought it was a song about a crocodile....No i'm kidding! I the music from mark knopfler, excellent musician!

  • just found my new favourite song

  • mabey a middle from capitalism and socialism is the best

  • If you look at Mark's contribution, simply as a song writer, there are very, very few artists that compare. Then you add his skills as a player: phrasing, taste and tone, and there are even fewer living musicians that compare: Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Page, Billy Gibbons, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, & Tom Petty to name a few.

  • Richard bennet is the guy!! Mark... so sweet.. love it!!

  • I'm glad you mentioned Richard Bennett because he is also a fabulous guitarist - it must be tough having MK always in the limelight - but these guys are pros - this is a great song based on the the story of Ray Kroc.

  • L'un des plus grands musiciens de la planète, i love him ! he's amazing !

  • "Hawkins540" I have no clue at all man, i love this song tho!

  • Me Too!

  • I love this song, but how did the comments end up how they did?

  • I love Mark Since 1987!!!!!

  • are you fucking kidding me naturesdopeflow?? ya fuckin jackass. Knopfler could be the greatest guitarist of all time. He is a legend! look at all the stuff he has put out first with dire straits and then by himself. He is still selling out shows and kicking everyones ass. He isn't weak in any sense of the word.

  • Really like this song. Great guitar work.

  • DITTOMAN.....

  • biggest douchebag of the year award goess tooo...guitarstring182 ! congrats, dipshit

  • Amazing it took me five years to find Boom Like That. Working for a restaurant repair service, the inside out is why i don't eat there. Ever. I go in every six months or so to get my fair share of gulag abuse. The words remind me of Industrial Disease. Can't wait til the AIG song is written. Straight to #1.

  • Sounds like the problem is Guitarstring187! Get over yourself, you're no better than anyone.

  • we should all be thankful that there are inteligent upstanding citizens like guitarstring 182 to protect us from all the white trash out there.....

  • fuck mcdonalds i never go there nor any other fast food chain. Mostly white trash go there. And i know this will piss off people. If you dont like then change goverment systems. There will always be white trash with capitalism.

  • guitarstring187.... i believe you just won the award for the dumbest fuckin comment ever on youtube...what the motherfuck does mcdonalds, white trash and government systems have to do with each other..youre all over the place dude...focus, brother, focus.

  • hey if you know what im talking about it makes perfect sence. 2% of the population owns 98% of all the money in america, Thats billions and the lack of money in the everyday persons is what is creating suck a huge gap in classes and education and lyfestyle. Poverty is a crime which just creates more crime. Thank you capitalism.

  • ....and YOU referring to people as "white trash" is doing so much to bridge the gap between classes...once again, youre all over the place...shut the fuck up till you get your own thoughts organized and stop embarassing yourself...dumbass.

  • Hi folks! Awesome song!Any native english speaker can tell me what is a "ding-ding"?

  • It's "ring-a-ding-ding" like the old doorbell sound. The host unwittingly invites the thief.

  • galavoti1 - "ring-a-ding-ding" is a phrase associated with Frank Sinatra. Like "wham bam ... ", MK's lyrics contain many cliches, just to set tone & context of another time; mcdonalds started when Sinatra was popular. only my opinion ... boom like that

  • Hey! He talks about my hometown in this song! San Bernardino!

  • ottima canzone

  • Comment removed

  • boom like that

  • rinnga ding ding

  • LOL!

    Just like that!

  • Great Song. No more to say.

  • Croc with a "K"?

  • Its about the guy who started mcdonalds.

  • He didn't actually start McDonalds but he took it over and turned it into an empire--and a rather vicious one at that, like all empires.

  • yeah, Ray Kroc.

  • Bigger than your brain.
