the only problem with it is its FWD ... lincoln made a RWD version of the conti body that suped could get 500-600hp, and it was a 2 door big boy coupe The Mk VIII, greatest american v 8 coupe of its time, if the eldorado was as good cadillac woulda had a decent competetor for it, but it was FWD and therefore mods were a bit of a joke...!

Cadillac is the way to go man like the vid, my first car was a caddy and my last car will be a caddy. theres only one car that can beat a caddy with just as much luxury and thats a bentley lol and last time i checked there threes times as much in price haha....cadillac 4 life=)
I'm not a huge fan of Cadillacs, but like em alright. The thing I don't like about the RX8, is that the torque is so much lower than the horse power. Besides fast acceleration or course, I like my car's to jump a bit when I stomp on it, all you Caddy drivers know what I'm talking about.... it's just a great feeling you get when that torque hits with a punch and sets you back in your seat!
I own both a cadillac sts and a 91 camaro. I love both cars. The camaro kills the cadillac off the line, however, once that caddy gets up to 25 mph, the acceleration is incredible. The camaro was my first car so obviously i love it more, but the caddy is truly an amazing machine.
Thats funny cause I own both as well, 93 sts and a 01 camaro ss. I mean obviously you cant touch the power/handling of the camaro. But for some reason I just like my cadillac more, easy to drive, comfortable, enough power to get you where your going, an much better interior quality.

@waitandbleedagan12 I've noticed that too in my 94 Northstar SLS. The damn thing snaps my head back when I floor it at 60 to pass people. By the time I get my face reorientated, I'm doing 85! (Occasionally I do this with passengers to show off/scare them) Another showoff move (don't try this at home, it's probably horrible for your transmission) doing 80 in 2nd gear and prodding the gas pedal. If GM would've made these RWD for the 92-97 generation, it would've been a complete street terror.
@haasguidod101 Actually the stock Northstar intake is already a cold-air unit that is capable of suppling more air than the 279 cid engine ever could take in. So the differences between stock and aftermarket intake setup would be minimal.
I can taste the adrenalin when I stomp on the gas pedal!! Not many cars can beat the caddy. It is one of the most powerful front wheel drive cars ever made.
not all of them blow headgaskets,if u keep your radiator flushed and the right coolant all your lines blowed out,you will b ok,,,,,alot of sls n sts have overheating problems cause of the breathing tube getting cloged from not using the right antifreeze, but my sts have 157,000 and never had a problem
@nighttrain334 the head gasket material that separates the the coolant and the combustion chamber is so thin and prone to corrosion. the northstar engine is interesting because it has coolant jackets surrounding the ouside of the cylinder walls.
Thats the problem with rotary engines. No torque. They have top end for miles when you factor in how small they are but they lack a hard punch that comes from larger displacement or some forms of forced induction.

Haha really man i bought my car with my own money. Mommy and daddy didnt help me one bit numb nuts. This was when I didn't know my car and how to really know what it could do. I got the car 2 weeks before this race with 3/4 tank of gas at the time. If I raced him now he knows I would smoke him. Lol. Already did it once.

i have a 1996 sts ( vin code 9 = 300hp) and ( factory tire spec z = no speed limiter) mine has both and im happy to see the sts beat a proper sports car i really am and while the sts handle very well for its size and weight i wonder if it could beat an rx8 on a track with turns and corners. i like to think the sts would hold up well but after having driven an rx8 in corners i think the rx8 would have the edge.
Mine has those options as well, love the car. Love how smooth the engine is and how much torque through out the rpm range. Ive riden in that rx8 and they can handle very well, if the track didnt have very many tight corners you probably could with the hp, but if its a tight track, forget about it, lol.
Yup. 5.8 seconds for the six-speed compared to 6.4 for the STS. A manual would've definitely beat the STS provided the guy didn't fall asleep at the starting line.

You do a little research yourself. Back in 1993 the Lancia Delta Integrale was still in production. It's a rally legend, 6 times WRC champion and the car the Japanese copied in what is known as Mitsubishi Evolution. I haven't been in the Caddy but a drive in this one will leave you speechless. Maybe we've got different interests in what we seek in a car, but if I were to buy a car back then, I'd buy that one which of course is a much much better car and a legend even today. Where's the Caddy?

And then click on the link to the video review of the 1993 Cadillac El Dorado ETC that was done by Motorweek. You will see what i mean. Also, the El Dorado ETC was a 2 door version of the Seville STS and uses the same fine road sensing suspension system.

I really don't like putting information to someone who is misinformed. Most cadillacs of the 80's and into the early 90's had the handling.. well of nothing. However, the exception was the Cadillac El Dorado ETC and Seville STS starting in the 1992 year. On these cars cadillac really did make a point to give them decent handling. Note, they will still not have the super duper sharp razor edge handling of an MX 5 but rather very good handling for a large front drive car.
You're right! The Eldorado and especiallty the Sevilles didn't have the boat like handling of the older Cadillacs. They're still large and feel it, but they do have very good handling and ride like a much smaller car.
Mmmmm hmmm. The RX8 is an excellent car. What many american car haters don't realize is that all of the Seville STS cadillacs are EXCELLENT cars as well. They are quick, have good handling and are well made. Also, pretty reliable is maintained properly. This result doesn't surprise me. They are quite fast enough.
It's true that new American cars are improved in terms of handling. But this particular one is one of the old school. Still there's lots of things to do to catch up the Germans. They're on their own league.
Actually this particular one is not one of the old school. The Deville was. Not the Seville, although from it's boxy look, I can't blame you for assuming it is.
The Seville has always been geared towards younger people. The Deville, and DTS to a lesser extent has maintained the traditional bounce-you-around/boat feel of the older cars.
The pre-2000 Sevilles are a little stiffer than the 2000+ models as well as they completely redid the suspension, but even so the original Seville is still a great ride.
I drive an '01 Seville SLS with the 275 horsepower Northstar. It's no slouch for a 2-ton FWD automatic luxury sedan, lol. I've beaten a mid-90's Mustang GT, 3rd gen Mitsubishi Eclipse, Dodge Neon (lol, that wasn't even worthy my time), and a Grand Am as far as I can remember.
lol only reason the rx8 was pullin off the start is cuz it weighs like 3k pounds about 1k less than the seville lol (excuse me for not using the EXACT weight dont be leavin a comment hatin on me for it) lol
take it on a raceing track and you will se that the cadillac wont stand a chans ;-)

@waitandbleedagan12 I've noticed that too in my 94 Northstar SLS. The damn thing snaps my head back when I floor it at 60 to pass people. By the time I get my face reorientated, I'm doing 85! (Occasionally I do this with passengers to show off/scare them) Another showoff move (don't try this at home, it's probably horrible for your transmission) doing 80 in 2nd gear and prodding the gas pedal. If GM would've made these RWD for the 92-97 generation, it would've been a complete street terror.

I used to own a caddy and it was a 93. Although it was fast I KNOW it could never beat an rx-8 not even with a shitty driver in the rx8.

@haasguidod101 Actually the stock Northstar intake is already a cold-air unit that is capable of suppling more air than the 279 cid engine ever could take in. So the differences between stock and aftermarket intake setup would be minimal.

I have one of these beasts.
The power of the STS is amazing;
I can taste the adrenalin when I stomp on the gas pedal!! Not many cars can beat the caddy. It is one of the most powerful front wheel drive cars ever made.

not all of them blow headgaskets,if u keep your radiator flushed and the right coolant all your lines blowed out,you will b ok,,,,,alot of sls n sts have overheating problems cause of the breathing tube getting cloged from not using the right antifreeze, but my sts have 157,000 and never had a problem

@nighttrain334 the head gasket material that separates the the coolant and the combustion chamber is so thin and prone to corrosion. the northstar engine is interesting because it has coolant jackets surrounding the ouside of the cylinder walls.

Thats the problem with rotary engines. No torque. They have top end for miles when you factor in how small they are but they lack a hard punch that comes from larger displacement or some forms of forced induction.

I got the car 2 weeks before this race with 3/4 tank of gas at the time. If I raced him now he knows I would smoke him. Lol. Already did it once.

Yeah I got a 95 STS 300hp and just yesterday I beat out the crap a Bmw 3series which was 6 speed manual transmission.... that guy sure got served... Caddi's a beast

People that say Cadillacs are slow have no fucking clue what they are talking about. They may be slow on the track (cadies aren't the best handling cars). But in a drag race (stock for stock)? HA, Good luck keeping up. There is a reason why when hot rodding first started, everyone was using CADILLAC engines in their rods.

i have a 1996 sts ( vin code 9 = 300hp) and ( factory tire spec z = no speed limiter) mine has both and im happy to see the sts beat a proper sports car i really am and while the sts handle very well for its size and weight i wonder if it could beat an rx8 on a track with turns and corners. i like to think the sts would hold up well but after having driven an rx8 in corners i think the rx8 would have the edge.

Mine has those options as well, love the car. Love how smooth the engine is and how much torque through out the rpm range. Ive riden in that rx8 and they can handle very well, if the track didnt have very many tight corners you probably could with the hp, but if its a tight track, forget about it, lol.

Yup. 5.8 seconds for the six-speed compared to 6.4 for the STS. A manual would've definitely beat the STS provided the guy didn't fall asleep at the starting line.

those rx-8's suck they have no power and no torque mazda made a rotory power POS. But yea those old STS are fast I raced one in my SSEI and I only beat it by a nose. but the STS has more top end power.

You do a little research yourself. Back in 1993 the Lancia Delta Integrale was still in production. It's a rally legend, 6 times WRC champion and the car the Japanese copied in what is known as Mitsubishi Evolution. I haven't been in the Caddy but a drive in this one will leave you speechless. Maybe we've got different interests in what we seek in a car, but if I were to buy a car back then, I'd buy that one which of course is a much much better car and a legend even today. Where's the Caddy?

And then click on the link to the video review of the 1993 Cadillac El Dorado ETC that was done by Motorweek. You will see what i mean. Also, the El Dorado ETC was a 2 door version of the Seville STS and uses the same fine road sensing suspension system.
Watch the video. Not all american cars are wobbly in the knees all the time. as the the video review by Motorweek proves.

I really don't like putting information to someone who is misinformed. Most cadillacs of the 80's and into the early 90's had the handling.. well of nothing. However, the exception was the Cadillac El Dorado ETC and Seville STS starting in the 1992 year. On these cars cadillac really did make a point to give them decent handling. Note, they will still not have the super duper sharp razor edge handling of an MX 5 but rather very good handling for a large front drive car.

You're right! The Eldorado and especiallty the Sevilles didn't have the boat like handling of the older Cadillacs. They're still large and feel it, but they do have very good handling and ride like a much smaller car.

Mmmmm hmmm. The RX8 is an excellent car. What many american car haters don't realize is that all of the Seville STS cadillacs are EXCELLENT cars as well. They are quick, have good handling and are well made. Also, pretty reliable is maintained properly. This result doesn't surprise me. They are quite fast enough.

It's true that new American cars are improved in terms of handling. But this particular one is one of the old school. Still there's lots of things to do to catch up the Germans. They're on their own league.

The Seville has always been geared towards younger people. The Deville, and DTS to a lesser extent has maintained the traditional bounce-you-around/boat feel of the older cars.
The pre-2000 Sevilles are a little stiffer than the 2000+ models as well as they completely redid the suspension, but even so the original Seville is still a great ride.

I drive an '01 Seville SLS with the 275 horsepower Northstar. It's no slouch for a 2-ton FWD automatic luxury sedan, lol. I've beaten a mid-90's Mustang GT, 3rd gen Mitsubishi Eclipse, Dodge Neon (lol, that wasn't even worthy my time), and a Grand Am as far as I can remember.
