I hope you do have a go at tying, if your eyesight it's too good then I would recommend using a good light with a magnifier on it and the one I use is not exspensive, I'll send you a link to it...All the best Davie
You'll find that many of the shops that sell fly tying materials will be able to help you as there's a few companies that have them under a different name, the Glasgow Angling Centre also have them...
Davie, As fantastic as ever I have only just started tying flies and i have learnt so much from watching your videos my only problem is i need to buy a lot of supplies i realise just how little stock i have. but please keep producing your fantastic videos so that i can keep improving thank you Alan
To be liked to Dick Talaur is a great honour, I thank you for that..The hook is a Kamazan B160 size 14 which has a shank length of a size 16 but the gape of a size 14 and to be honest with you tye it on whatever hook you like to use..
Davie, I've read many books about fly-tying, and watched a lot of videos. I don't know how or why you can explain things in such a way that they become simple and doable. But, you can. I so appreciate all the time and effort you put into your videos. You're at the top of my "People I Would Most Like to Meet" list. :)
davie, you my friend are a true tying legend. because I'm new to the fly tying world my dubbing technique is really bad. I've looked all over the web on dubbing tips and still found nothing that actually helped until i started watching your videos. i started to use your dubbing techniques (turning and twisting the dubbing). i can actually see the difference from flies i tied last week and this week.
I know what you mean, GatorFan! It's Davies attention to detail, professional insight and inspiring tips that i am sure have improved the tying ability of all of us that have seriously studied his brilliant videos! I have been tying for well over 30 years, off and on, but i have certainly learnt an awful lot from Davie these last few months! To be honest, i am awestruck, dumbfounded and all the other clichés, at my recent progress!
Opening out the fibres with the dubbing will help give a better shape in the wing and as well allow it to throw the water when false casting, keeping it drier so you'll find your fly will float much longer..
glad to have this tying back a great pattern thanks again....do you intend to repost your previous videos and could you tell me the tying for the lack n grey
hi davie your vids are amazing, along with your fly's, were do you get all the cool materials, I live in the usa :(, utah to be exact. we have some really good small streams around here and i was wondering if you had any sudjestions
Most of the materials I used in the comparadun originally came from America. Here are a list of some that I have used; Montana Fly Company, Wapsi, Hairline, Hedron, Whiting,Collins, Keogh, and Metz all of these companies supply shops all around the world..
i was talking to my wee pal today&he mentioned your videos, this is very cool in my book, dont think i could do it though as my eyes aren't to good.

Opening out the fibres with the dubbing will help give a better shape in the wing and as well allow it to throw the water when false casting, keeping it drier so you'll find your fly will float much longer..
