Sriram thanks very well explained, but I haven't clearly understood why sailors and aviators use it instead of the regular mile if there is a direct conversion, does it have anything to do with altitude a plane flies at? , I would assume it take much longer for a an airplane to cover a minute at a high altitude than at the surface of the earth. so does a nautical mile increased with altitude? I am confused..
how come 1degree= 60 minutes?
