Don Cornelius dancing in the Soul Train line to THE JB'S "doing it to death". it doenst get any better than this.classic Soul Train clip. R.I.P Brother Don Cornelius
LAWD LAWD!!! It got a little too good there. But hey.. I been there, called myself gettin ready to do the thang and away I went, clean across the floor & laffin all the way.
after dancing with Mary Wilson, Don goes back down the line with Jean Terrell(who replaced Diana Ross in The Supremes in 1970) and Lynda Lawrence, who had just joined the 70's Supremes.. and he trips between Jean and Lynda!!
@CraftyGtrist It's called Doing It To Death by Fred Wesley and The JBs with James Brown. They were part of James Brown's band or signed to his label. I think that's Fred Wesley blowing the horn.
R.I.P. Don Cornelius!!!!R.I.P. Don Cornelius!!!!R.I.P. Don Cornelius!!!!R.I.P. Don Cornelius!!!!R.I.P. Don Cornelius!!!! he was a true leader ..1 I loved him in that movie with chartlon heston.
Mr Don Cornelius was one of our greatest entrepeneurs of the past 40 years. Had it not been for him, Black music and culture would probably not be as conspicuous, loved and highly respected as it presently is. He is a model for all young aspiring African-American media personalities and an exemplary one at that. Thank you and may Mr. Cornelius rest in peace. PBUH.
Rest in peace Mr. Cornelius. You brought so much joy to so many people. I hope that you have found the peace that you were searching for. We thank you for the wisdom and insight that led you to create Soul Train and entertain generations of Americans.
From a white guy age 64...he was cool and the show sooo cool. Got my grove on many a time during the '70's because of the dance moves learned on HIS Soul Train. RIP Sir you will not be forgotten
I was a little kid in East Oakland being (partially) raised by this man and his coolest show of all time. I mean really, has there been ANYTHING this cool on TV since? And mind you, my TV had bunny ears at the time!!! Thanks for teaching me how to be cool. Rest in peace big brother! There will never be another quite like you.
One sad day for us all, yeah "The Don" Don Cornelius has Has finally taken the Ultimate Soul Train Ride to the land beyond. Needless to say, He'll be greatly missed, But we thank him for his groundbreaking, history making series of Soul Train. I can remember every saturday watchin' soul train, yeah "the hippest trip in america", the fellas were pop lockin, doin' the boogaloo, and the robot, and them fine ass sista's dancin' and doin' their thang as well, and me and my brother would try and
(continued) pick out the finest ladies on soul train and say "Imma grow up and marry her"-lmao and my mayne man DC, "The Don" Don Cornelius was just too cool for school, with that three foot fro, the bell bottoms, and the 6 inch platform dress shoes, and the voice of barry white & Issac hayes blended together maaann, dat was da joint-lol Yes indeed, it sho brings back memories of the greatest times of my childhood life.
It was a good run while it lasted...remember Sat morn in the barbershop and everyone came together to watch soul train...Nothing stays the same..What goes up must come down
Don, you will be missed. Soul Train will LIVE FOREVER! I remember watching Soul Train as a kid and wanting to be there and dance in the line. I danced in my living room instead, and always thought that Don Cornelius was the smoothest man alive. Growing up a rural, white kid, Soul Train was not as popular where I grew up, but I didn't care-it was still awesome. I still can't believe he took his own life, but the memories of the show will stay with me and the legion of fans for a lifetime.
@arealmanofgenius15 As an African American woman growing in a single parent home in the ghetto of Brooklyn, It amazes me how music connects us more that we can ever imagine.
Don, your show previewed the year I was born in 1970. As a middle class white guy I grew up watching you. You taught me what cool was. The black youth of today could use your positive influence. I am not sure what happens to people when they commit suicide but I worry about the souls of those who do take that step (with the exception of mental illnesses). I have endured 2 painful stints with dialysis and 2 kidney transplants and wanted to die many times. Don't ride the long black train. I love u
@MrJohanasBilderberg I was still a little white babe in arms when Soul Train was on, but with the tv on when I was a baby, I think the music just sunk its way into my soul.
I know I'm pushing my luck here and no one probably wants to read this. But I'm going to post this with the hope of someone reading this...I am a rapper, and yes I know you hear that a lot but I promise I actually have talent. If you give me the chance and help me with my dreams I will really appreciate it.... I have my music on my channel....Please support.....A simple THUMBS UP could change my life . Thank you and God Bless!
RIP! I'm so thankful for the joy dance & funky music brought to my soul. I grew up in Los Angeles & watching Soul Train. Moved back to Vancouver, got on a dance floor & pulled out the funky moves with my baby blue high waisted wide bell bottoms & people stood back and were like, "What the he__? Next time I went I brought a mixed tape, they played it! & people soon updated their dance steps that I learned from the show! Much love & thanks for bringing me Peace, Love & Soul Train! - From Kat
So sad today. Used to luv the line and never (remember) seeing this. Don, as always in parting, I wish you love, peace and soulllllllll! Be in a better place.Your fan, M.
So sad. Like a family member, we welcomed him into our homes for as long as I could remember. We give you our Love, We hope you rest in Peace and may god bless your Soul!
bless his heart.......never know what someone is going thru mentally. rip don!!! love and appreciate every contribution you've made to HISTORY, not just black history!
DC on the line - that was extra cool - just as cool as Don himself.
RIP Mr. Cornelius - you are missed; you are a legend.
