I don't know if they're acting or not, but Pizza Hut made that commercial to prove that their pastas are world-class, and the highest praise the family gave them was "I can actually taste the Parmesan" and "Very yummy". That's not exactly gushing.

Then the girl takes off the blindfold and goes "Oh my God!" The only reason she's surprised is that she's in her house when she thought she was somewhere else, not because she's eating some shitty pasta.

I have to say that's a little weird. Like, if you've got actors, you should make them say "This is the best pasta I've ever had" or something along those general coordinates, not "I can taste the Parmesan" which is -- you know -- if you weren't supposed to taste the Parmesan, what's the point of having Parmesan in it at all?

One last reason why this is laughable. There is no definition of "restaurant quality." If it's meant to imply Pizza Hut serves 5-star food, that's BS. It would be costly and time-consuming to insist that Pizza Huts from coast-to-coast prepare premium Italian pasta (and expensive for the consumer who doesn't go to Pizza Hut expecting premium anyway). Real pasta dishes are made-from-scratch, are 100% breast meat, would use freshly grated Parmesan, and certainly wouldn't need preservatives.

Sorry for the rant, but this is total BS. If patrons at Provence are impressed by mass-produced, chain store pasta, they're expectations are low. Here are some of the ingredients in Pizza Hut's Alfredo that no self-respecting Italian restaurant would use: soybean oil, Parmesan cheese "paste," cheese "flavor," zanthan gum, chicken rib meat, disodium guanylate, egg yolk powder, sodium propionate (as a preservative). There is no substitute for top quality, freshness and natural ingredients.
