  • great video. thanks for putting this together!

  • California DFG would have a two year study, blame the overpopulation on global warming and overfishing of predator species and then close all areas where either one could be caught.

  • i here ya in this video....2 snapper per fisherman thats bullshit

  • Now the FWC wants to close the Gag Grouper for the whole year of2011.... can you guess why, because all of these red snapper ate all of the young gag grouper, now its hard to get a gag...also it seems funny if the stocks of red snapper are getting low why do the commercial guys never have a problem of filling their quota every year.

  • @al8up I know thats what im saying. so they need to close gag down and open red snapper all year long

  • i didnt see a single red snapper this video is innacurate by all means

  • You must be either blind or related to DR. Roy Crabtree.

  • Show me a research vessel and ill show you a one legged man winning an ass kicking contest !

  • Nice video! If you don't think those are red snapper you are a FOOL! Those fish will eat the other reef fish out of house and home.

  • those are not red snappers!! are grey snapper aka mangrove snappers

  • you are ignorant and probably on Dr. Roy Crabtree's christmas list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i see a lot of juvies, grunts and jacks mixed in. Bottom line, i have spent my entire life fishing the waters of Florida> I watched species decline, regulations instituted and species recover. I fully support the fwc because i know they have the longevity of our ecosystem in mind

  • foreal?

  • Good footage of the red snapper

  • There are an awful lot of red snappers in that vid.

  • great vid to show them the pop.

There are a ton or red in the vid. Ithe vid isnt the greatest(in quality) but to the untrained eye I can see why people are whining..

    GREAT VID MAN!!

  • HMM I say kill em all and feed the hungry! YUM!

  • Ok, good video but a few things: I previousely statred distinguishing marks on a juv Red Snapper that are absent. Also, what is the focus? IS the increase of formrly endangered gamefish a BAD thing?

  • they where never endanger and their not a game fish

  • A tarpon is a game fish not red snapper the catch and release program does not work on deep water fish like grouper and snapper

  • will someody please show this to afwf or fwc this shit is out of control i can even hardley spear an aj no more

  • all of the commercial fishermen have no problem filling their quota on red snapper, but once it is full then b-liners become the target, if you can get past those pesky snappers there has never been so many snapper in Pensacola ever, but they will canabolize each other, the fry will eat the other, species, if you don't want a disaster on your hands more needs to be caught right now before its to late, right this moment billions of gallons of hormones are coming down the Mississippi, changes m/f

  • i'm not trying to be nasty.

A juvinile Red Snapper has a black blotch below the 2nd dorsal. Reviewing the tape they are not Margates, but appear to be Gray Snapper or Vermillion (B-Line) Snapper.

  • those are juv red snapper, and the aren't red near the bottom as he said the color spectrum doesn't penetrate that far for red

  • Comment removed

  • Tiger, you must work for the nmfs, because they don't seem to be able to identify red snapper either. Look up "ROYGBIV" and see if that helps.

  • @Tigerpuffer LOL at Tigerpuffer

  • I live in mobile and if u want check out my video.. snapper is out of control.. the gvt doesn't take into consideration that pens. to alabama account for almost 50 pecent of the snapper population in the gulf.. their stats are bogus... I can't get a mess of triggers or beelinners anymore because of snapper.

  • Abundant snapper, don't tell the National Marine Fisheries or Gulf Council or they'll make the season even shorter.

  • keep up the fight! thanks for the post. A

  • This video is ABSOLUTELY accurate. I live in pensacola. If you go out to a wreck and drop a bait to the bottom, you can't get it back up without getting hammered by snapper!

  • This video is an eye opener.

    Thanks

  • Never been on a dive in the Pensacola region that I didn't see the endangered Red Snapper. The bridge-rubble reef project has been a huge success. Snapper of all species are in abundance, particularly Red Snapper. There are so many that they can even become bothersome.
