Nah, Xuiying's brother is called Ziming and Lan Di's real name is Longsan Zhao. Ryo also mentions Lan Di to Xuiying, but she doesn't mention that they are related.
There is something you didn't notice then. Don't you think she's hidding it on purpose? I mean, come on, Ryo is going to revenge his father and she's all like "don't take the same path as my brother" and Lan did did take the same path as Ryo (revenge).
They both have the same scratch on their face, too many coincidences. Even if their names aren't related at all, i'm sure they're somewhat connected. But who knows, i might be wrong, you could be wrong or right, we won't be sure at all until they reveal it to us.
Lan Di and Ziming have been proven to be separate people. There are images showing the head members of the Chi You, and Lan Di and Ziming are shown separately.
Also, in cutscenes, Ziming is shown to be seeking revenge for the deaths of BOTH of his parents, while Lan Di only mentions getting revenge for his father.
So they aren't the same. It's a natural assumption to make (I think everyone thinks it at some point), but it's been proven false.
Xiuying's brother is Ziming Hong. He is the Chiyoumen guardian of the west, the White Tiger.
Lan Di's real name is Longsun Zhao. He is the Chiyoumen guardian of the east, the Green Dragon.
Before Shenmue 2 on the XBOX, I reckon that most people believed Ziming was Lan Di, it's a shame that the Side Stories spoiled this part of the story :(
This cutscene is one of the most epic cutscenes. I always get goosebumps when watching this scene. It's the way Lan Di just suddenly appears and the way they look at each other.
