The 2 Delta Snipers; , MSG Gary Gordon and  SFC Randy Shughart show extreme bravery in the field of battle and were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. unfortunatley both men were killed in their attempted rescue of the crew of the MH-60L black hawk helicopter codenamed super six-four. As Sweaty4head said, it's a song in Breton, not in French (breton is a celtic language from Brittany, western part of France). Sounds more like a love song, the kind that women in Brittany would sing for their sailor husbands gone to the seas, waiting/hoping for them to come back... (this is but my personal interpretation, though).

@nighthawk9421 Only partly correct, since the score for 'Gladiator' is said to be an equal effort of Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard. My guess (at least what i like to think) is that 'Now We Are Free' is mostly Lisa Gerrards work. One thing is for shure - Zimmer had nothing to do with the lyrics, since he isn't particularly fluent in Gerrards 'language' :-)
