There's nothin like listenin to the ill, vocal, melodic range of David Ruffin. I mean much like Tupac's passion and delivery on every track in the movement of Hip-Hop, David Ruffin is the equivalent of exertin his emotions of that hurtful pain that no artist can match. David Ruffin is definite top 5 for R&B. Personally: 1. Sam Cooke, 2. Marvin Gaye, 3. Teddy Pendergrass, 4. Johnnie Taylor and Willie Hutch, & 5. David Ruffin. RIP David Ruffin.
The fact that David's personal life was perhaps a mess and he had issues with drugs and woman or whatever really only makes me love him more.I say this because in his voice I hear a beautiful pain and incomparable expression that I need to believe comes from real life experience. Basically, David can only sing the way he does is because of his outstanding natural talent and, perhaps more importantly, the pain and heartbreak he felt inside.
People are always 'focusing' on Ruff's personal life (which in truth, they know little of except of what they've read in 'scrubbed down' Motown books & in that 'Tempts' movie) & seldom on his music. Did you know he did 11 solo LPs during his tenure at Motown & Warner Bros.? Folks need 2 stop dwelling on gossip & innuendo. There were people in the music business that were worse than Ruff but they never get 'villianized' the way Ruff does. Which is sad.

What MAY or MAY NOT have happened with Ms.Tammi has NOTHING to do with David's masterful ability to sing! HE WAS and CONTINUES TO BE "THE MESSIAH OF MOTOWN"!!!!
Yep. He could sing his ass off but he was still a batterer and a coke addict. It was witnesses by all who knew him. We aren't judging him, these were factual things he did in his lifetime.
