Chautauqua is the name of the most western county in NY state.Not upstate at all. Borders on Lake Erie. Below the city of Buffalo (in Erie county). That little puddle jumper was a long way from home... Chautauqua airport Buddy Holly small planes....flying for the big dogs. Hi rich, thats great...but the people in the vast majority of NY (state not just a city) consider upstate as upstate NY , northern NY state. The island of NYC (or everthing south of Yonkers) is truthfully considered by most as seperate entity...it just raises all of our taxes (statewide) just so you know

Chautauqua is the name of the county in upstate NY where the company started in 1974 with a Beech 99 I believe doing FAR135 between Jamestown NY and other small communities up there. =) Chautauqua county, like many counties in that part of the Northeast is the name of the Indigenous Indian tribe of that area as far as I know.
