Degale's very calculated in his work, hunts his target and finishes well, only thing is sometimes he appears a bit wild leaning into punches, be interesting to see how he gets on against Paul Smith. Should be a decent fight.

James Degale is talented, but in my opinion and it's my opinion, i think it will take a better trainer than the one he has for him to reach his full potential.. Jim Mcdonnel is good but the likes of Freddie Roach, Emanuel Steward is better as their knowledge of training a boxer goes far beyond what a boxer already knows..

@warrickbrodrick i can too, groves has got some good hand speed and power but his defense is next to non existent. he gets blasted with big shots alot by much lesser fighters. degales superior speed, athleticism, and defensive capabilities would be the telling of that fight.

I will repeat myself as a particular person is crying about my assessments about James Degale as a boxer. As i said he is very talented wth a lot of natural ability but he need to throw more straight shots such as more jabs which is the key punch and work on his straight backhand. He seems to throw a lot of looping punches and as they say a straight punch will get to the target quicker. Some of his looping punches are fine but he needs to work on his overall technique and turn his punches over

Technical inaccuracy?...you know, that obvious difference in style between Calzaghe and Degale, while Calzaghe mixed up the type of shots, Degale tends to stick with CUFFING his opponents into submission!!! LOL

James Degale has got alot of natural talent, but has poor technique on all of his punches. He is fit but needs to get a better coach or go to America to seek a better coach IMO..Poor technique will be his down fall and wrong basic tactics.

Degale looked wild at times with his punches and getting hit far to much regardless of his opponent's power, his over confidence will certainly be his downfall its called the amatures for a reason James, wait untill he faces a higher calibre boxer, 100% lose if you don't sort out your defence. Also if he tries to do that stupid little move where he is about to give the boxer a blowjob and somone catches him good night. Degale did wot he had to do and beat horton but he knew he had nothing to fear from a boxer who has only 2 ko wins on his record , the guy can't punch simple as that and degale can . A great fight would be george groves vs degale , groves beat degale in the amateurs but both have done well so far . I think it wud be a real fight between them with groves wininng by ko , but we will see .
