  • when you think about it, losing millions of dollars to a trillion dollar industry is like losing a 50 bucks when you've just won the lottery...

  • ADAPT ALREADY! INCENTIVE SHOULD BE IN THE CREATIVE PROCESS! IF YOU WANT MONEY - GO ON TOUR!

  • What?! Without copyright there will be no misc? Biggest lie ever. Nobody pays for records nowadays, but there's more bands outthere then was in 80s. And people record music in their home studios and put it online for free. And nobody have a hard feelings. And some how ledygagas still doing millions of dollars.

  • how come copying is stealing?

and let actual musician sue the listener, not some advocates. i want some Bon Jovy standing there and said - you, little boy from alabama, going to prison just because you download my song

  • @InhabitantOfUniverse You put it on Tv, radio and YouTube and all of those are free! No difference.

  • I am just one very talented musicians, among many, who looked at the prospect of being a professional musician and said "fuck that". It was a direct result of the napster generation. Well they got what they deserved.....shit for music. Thanks alot assholes. You made it so that artists are more like employees working for a record company than artists. Its the little guy that gets hurt, not the big flashy Hollywood star.

  • Music will continue without money but not the way we know it now. If artists have to work other jobs in order to support themselves, that is less time spent writing, touring, recording, etc. People who love making music will still make it when they have time. They won't ever release it to a wide audience and probably won't play shows since they can't support themselves doing what they love.

    Anti-piracy for life.

  • Stealing a car = 1 less car

"stealing" a song, album, etc != 1 less song, album, etc.

  • The RIAA's goal has always been to punish artists and their fans for their personal gain.

  • to you people who say that musicians should just be happy to make art. you are basically saying that they shouldnt be able to do what makes them happy for a living

  • Here's the problem, these companies are actually saying we cannot share things with each other, SHARE for fuck sake, that's not even a basic human right because it does.not.need.to.be.

I have not gone to see a film at the cinema or purchased a film on any format for years, i do not buy music either, the reason is in this video, the media companies have brought lawsuits against thousands of people, suing people left right and centre, they made hundreds of people bankrupt and i refuse to buy now.

  • Thank God for Replay music 3. If u cant download just record :D

  • You call this illegal but while others were being sued the RIAA and FBI ignored the following conversation A NC high ranking police officer was recorded discussing downloading music He named the name Kazaa and talked about how songs were arranged in groups choose & click and get them He said it was the thing to do everybody was doing it He bet his daughters had downloaded a thousand songs on his computer He laughed and said he hoped the federal government did not come in and investigate him.

  • Anyone who disagrees with this video is selfish.

  • wow that guy is a dush. i really dont want to pay .99 cents to listen to a fricken song. and that guy really assumes. that i dont love music... wow yea um to bad music is what started me to want to play the guitar and has kept me playing for 6 years...lol and i really dont have enough money for each song. hell ill have to go back to listening to the radio, um i mean one song then 10 mins of commercials. ha the music industry would die if they instantly got rid of piracy. dont they realize that?

  • This news report is brought to you by the RIAA,

  • This news report is brought to you by the RIAA.

  • I have rarely ever seen such a slanted piece.

  • america sucks

  • I am downloading illegally and i will continue to do so. Nothing "the industry" can do about it.

  • And soon there won't be anything left to download illegally since people like you will have destroyed the industry through your illegal activity. It's one thing for people to be criminals. It's another thing for people to be proud o being criminals that destroy other people's lives for their own greed.

  • We haven't got anything left anyway. All the music nowadays sucks.

  • @teaboyaudio

no.. not quite, all thats going down is the old fashioned music industry.

    ps. go hump a Walmart

  • @teaboyaudio that is nonsense...

  • I cannot believe the absurd black and white mentallity of the RIAA president and his opinion that music doesn't have a place in our society without a business to back it up. It's not true, and that's why I think he and the four conglomerates need to shove it. Music is a form of art, people express themselves as part of a natural force of our humanity. What we all need to do is stand up to this screwed up industry and start making music solely for pleasing the public, not for corporate jerks.

  • In other words, let's not make music for money but because we want something to enjoy ourselves. Money is a root problem for so many things in our society, it's the seperation point of social class, it is the number one driver of greed, it's the cause of several wars, and becomes the sole reason for every aspect for our survival to where we end up enslaved by industry.

  • @jconifer7

Then why are people stealing this music? If they only want music that is personal art, then why don't they just make their own instead of stealing? Why steal commercial products in the name of supporting art?

  • @teaboyaudio how is this stealing? it't not like I take music from the singer literally...I download it from the internet where it's available for the whole world...it's called sharing

  • Microsoft made everybody a producer so blame them. This is what you call a technological threat, adapt or die!

  • Was there music before there was copywright. YES

Was there music before there were records. YES

Was there music before there was money.YES

Will there be music if copywright law is removed.YES

Will artists still make shedloads of money compared to regular people and be huge celebrities if they shift vast numbers of free downloads. YES

Will the guy speaking in the video or all the other corperate people taking a massive slice of the artists income for themselves still have a job. NO

  • who cares about those fucking piece of shit fat cats! Music piracy FOR THE WIN!

  • hahahaha im gonna steal this video.... ahhahahaha i already downloaded it.... it bullshit....

  • I will personally stop illegal downloading of music among my small town, if you can please answer this question:

    1. Busta rhymes averages 4 million dolars per album, and yet the president only makes 500k per year for leading our country?

  • fuck you,im gonna download music all i want, after that im going to download some dvds and after that,well..fuck yuo you fucking nigger loving piece of shit

  • There was music before the RIAA there will be music after the RIAA. I don't understand why everyone feels sry for the people that capitalize on other peoples talent. Thank God there is no PIAA for the painters or WIAA for writers. Capital and art should never be used in the same sentence, cause although people make livings doing it; it should never be the reason to create art, and frankly it has gotten a$inine, Artist in other art forms rarely have huge mansions and their own Plane.

  • One thing the music industry in the U.S. can fix is all these "multiple editions" of the same album they produce!. i mean when i'm ready to actually go purchase(legally)the album there are like 5 different editions of that one album that they expect me to buy!.

  • Example...the major retailers here in the U.S...a "standard" edition, a "deluxe edition" including maybe a DVD & a few bonus tracks, a "Best Buy Exclusive" edition, a "Target Exclusive" edition, a "Circuit City Exclusive" edition, a "Wal-Mart Exclusive" edition, an "FYE Exclusive" edition, an "iTunes" edition, etc. like WTF man?. how many damn editions of the same album do you expect me to buy to get all the bonuses that should be given to the customer in the first place in one sole purchase?...

  • That's just one of the damn reasons right there that people like to illegally download music...making like 10 different multiple editions of the same album and expecting a person to buy each and every one of them...f-ck that...

  • Awesome to hear of their mass losses and they will continue until they no longer exist or have been dissolved into a million pieces with another institution. no sympathy here for their ignorance and acts of aggression.

  • the artists and songwriters and producers are overpaid bastards and piracy does justice to that.

  • Oh my what a lie. Artists don't make hardly any money from records. It's all merchandise and touring. It's all the record company that makes the money from records. Artists do not care if people illegally download music off the internet. Just take a look at the KoRn video for "Y'all want a single". That is the truth of the record industry.

  • I wanna see these fucking cunts who download songs from the net illegal trying to do the same visiting a record store stealing cds and dvds. Coward bastards who r hiding behind their keyboards enjoying the safety of their home. I would like to split their filthy heads

  • You really need to relax.

  • How would you feel if I was sharing all your albums via internet? We loose day after day more and more! Small labels can't afford to support young artists. If everyone needs to get payed (teachers, doctors, workers) then why we not? Support the Microsoft Control. Fight music piracy

  • There is iTunes and Amazon on where artists can upload their songs directly without the use of a record company or a label. You can use youtube and myspace for preview. It's not a good excuse the sharing and downloading anymore

  • gives more publicity to the bands....

  • right so there is no need for small record companies. They just get screwed over anyway. If it's a small company and they can't promote a band very well then the artist has no point in being with them. So you're right on when you talk about the use of iTunes or Amazon. But, artists still won't get noticed unless they are promoted on those sites. This is really getting off topic but oh well.

  • No we need the small labels. Artists can do things by themselves but the labels can promote songs with a completely different way. Itunes is not the graveyard of the record companies it just make things more competitive.

  • oh shut the fuck up pretie, we'll do what we like with your crappy songs.

  • I wanna split your head fucking cunt. Would you like to meet me and say that in front of me. Traitor bastard thieve scumbag. Burn you arsehole in your council flat.

  • I'm going to share some songs over the internet just to piss you off some more :)

  • At the moment you are too young to think about life. I dont sorry abt you. You just got the chance to get things for free. Until then goodbye. You are just 14 years old. Someday you will understand. Until then goodbye.

  • FUCK PIRACY

  • obsorb my snake mister wishpers

  • sometimes what is lawful is not what's right! tell the industries to evolve and adapt to the new world and technology. they could use it to their advantage, but they're too fixated on instant gratification money.

    pro-piracy for life!

  • piracy is wrong... but it shouldnt come to piracy, the record companies over price the cds...which leads to piracy. And until they realize that there will always be piracy.

Radiohead understands this, theyre new cd you get to decide what you pay.

  • i only buy cd's frombands that are not on labels at all. you see, artists dont actually make much from CD sales, the record labels do. the artists make their money from touring and performing. so i support them that way.

  • Bull shit u dl music for ur self i didn't know thou shall not steel only applied to the non rich.

  • @ragdollkitten

you mean evolve into a communist-like basis in which everything is free? Sadly I would want something like that, but...in the real world

There is no such thing as a free lunch

  • show me an artist who is worried about someone someone who downloads their music who is accualy great.

  • Tell that to Metallica...they won't be getting their second personal jet this year! TISK TISK!

  • Filesharing is not stealing, and it doesn't diminish creativity. Overly strict copyright law does.

I'm not inspired to create because I think that some law will protect my art, I create because I love music.

Music is not a product large record companies have a monopoly on, and filesharing isn't going to make it "go away". It's part of the human condition and something everyone should be free to experience and participate in.

  • someone who understands it congrats

  • £20 to own a movie, £15 to buy a CD. We know who the thieves are. Have some respect for your customers, who knows maybe then the customers will have some respect for you. I recently went to a CD sale, the price tag said "Only £12". Thats a joke, was I supposed to say fucking "thanks"? If artists are afraid they won't make money, then why not keep their tunes to their self and just enjoy the pleasure of composition? Why force them upon a mass of people with the hope they can profit?

  • well said

  • With a DVD if I buy one in the UK and go to America, I'm supposed to buy another copy with a new region. Its shit, Imagine reading a book in the UK, traveling to France and the book is no longer readable.

The record companies are utter bastards, the score needs evening out a little, they have had it their way far too long.

  • Money or no money true artists will still create. I don't particularly want my CD to cost 5 times more than it should so the artists can travel the globe, living in hotels with gigantic entourages. Its bollocks. Another rip off, when I do buy a CD legally, I'm still breaking laws if I play it in public or lend it to a friend.

  • @karaloca

That's the problem, they have taken a normal part of life, sharing and made it illegal, the whole industry needs to be overhauled and any laws these companies brought need to be removed.

  • @karaloca

There's a difference between private use and priacy. You do know the artists that are like that have to pay bills too you know. They have to pay their agents for getting them the gigs, the record company,

They may live in big houses, but they are people just like you and me. Artists need money to make a living you know

  • @TheChoujinVirus I buy a DVD from a chinaman - £1, I play it and it works. Job done.

I pay £18.99 for a 'real' DVD, I see a logo, 2nd logo, 5 ads for 'other' shit movies, 3rd logo, 4th logo, then in case i missed it, they repeat 1st logo again. They ironically, although buying the film, I have to watch an advert for 5 minutes telling me not to buy pirate movies, like I'm the pirate! The movie starts, by now though my pepsi is flat and i've finished my nachos. Fuck the industry.

  • @karaloca no it's not it's on against the law if you give out free copies that you have burnt or if you make money of their music without paying royalties playing it in public is fine.

  • I live in the UK, a new CD sells for about £15 ($30), ask yourself who the thieves are. A new DVD movie is about £20 ($40), the companies have been taking the piss out of the consumer for years. I like the way they make it seem as if we steal from the artists, we do, but its a bug up the companies arse more than the artists.

  • money lets you produce music for free.money can buy time and hire studios.go try recording it for free...hire musicians and producers for free...send your promo materials for free...take photo make video for free...or sing alone in bathroom for free...:)

  • You are right, however, CD's are way too expensive.

  • money makes the world go round.

  • A real artist will keep producing music no matter how little he/she makes. There are already many good bands and artists encouraging distribution of their music for free. Stop spreading this god damned bullshit.

  • fuck you man sell your music for free..if you want artists to distribute music for free then go work for free

  • dick head as voubass55 said go work for free. You don't even realize how much work gets put into a well made CD.

  • what about all the not so well made cds out there at top prices you selective cunt?
