Do you feed your dog as you sit down to have your meal also or do you reinforce the pack leader thing by finishing your meal and then proceed to make/feed your dog?
This is horrid food, there are a lot of better dog foods out there. Why is it that during a series of training videos you think its a good idea to let a puppy play with a roll of toilet paper, yeah that'll teach it good manners. Also that guy is very creepily pleased about what kind of dog bowls he uses.
Kibble is never a good quality food. It is dry, lacks moisture. That is very bad for kidneys among other things. Vegetables aren't needed and dogs get no nutritional value from them because they can't process them.
I've been ffeeding my golden lab a good quality food twice a day, she's 19 months old now. I feed her about a cup of dry food at each meal, but also I have been giving her a small handful of frozen mixed vegetables with her meal. I am hoping that this is okay for her? She just loves it and gobbles it down, but she seems to want to put everything and anything in her mouth, even still at this age.
Is there a way to get her to quit from jumping on me too?
Every time your puppy jumps on you, turn your back on her and tell her, UH-UH! In an angry tone. You're telling her that you do not like her behavior. When she calms down, that's when you turn around and praise her, but don't get her excited when you praise her, because she'll want to jump on you again. Keep doing this and eventually she will learn that jumping up on you is unacceptable.
Thanks ever so much Sylvia, I am going to start this right away. Haven't been able to figure out how to stop her from the jumping thing. Thanks for all your help.I know Mattey will thank you too!
Puppies and dogs eat fast due to their instincts. In a pack, they eat as fast as they can. It's natural. Or your puppy may have been starved before you got it. It will need to be calm of its surroundings, and feel safe before it feels comfortable in eating. Try teaching it treats and give it plenty of praise. Calm it before it eats by petting it and massauging it's neck and scruff.
@Ydivan30 place a small rock into the food bowl, this will force him to eat around it. Also certain pet stores sell different food bowls that are designed just for that issue.
Not too certain about the rock idea. My pup would just devour that as well. The bowl I have heard of, and seemed to me a good idea. Thanks for advice.
@robomaniac8 "OL Roy" is terrible food. Stay away from corn, wheat, and soy (these all cause allergies) and meat by product (the part of the animal humans dont eat). If you feed a better quality pet food, you dog is more likely to live longer and be happier.
@robomaniac8 EVO and Orijen are the highest in protein. If you are looking for good quality and not so expensive, try the "California Natural", Wellness, or Taste of the Wild. the Merrick Before Grains is a good one as well.
okay, thank you SO much! i needed to know that and do you know that if i feed any of my dogs any of that stuff whille it help them live a little longer even if there old (i ask this because i have a very picky 11 year old dog)
@robomaniac8 for the 11 year old i would def. try the EVO, you can also use the "Stella and Chewy" or Natures Variety freeze dried food and sprinkle it onto the kibble. The Merrick food is coated so when you add warm water, it turns into a gravy too.
You use beef by-products that come from rendering plants. That is not good for dogs. You use beet pulp. That is a filler. You use brewers rice which is a filler. Don't tell me it's a fiber source because dogs don't need fiber in their diets. You use chicken by-product meal which comes from rendering plants. You add carbohydrates which dogs can't utilize and don't need. You have several corn products in there so don't tell me there are no fillers. I'm only on the C list from your website!
Plain and simple, all commercial food is junk! Dogs are carnivores so throw that cereal out and give them real meat and bones. That is truly all they need.
We agree with you in regards that dogs are best fed as carnivores. That is why we use high quality animal based proteins in our products. These animal based proteins contain essential amino acids to help build, repair, and sustain healthy muscle and tissue to help keep our dog family members healthy and happy. In addition, our products deliver 100% nutrition with no fillers. Each ingredient in our formula has a specific purpose for the health and well being of your pet.
@eukanuba Researching for Eukanuba on the website, dogfoodanalysis yielded these comments: "Insufficient meat products, uses by-products, low quality grains and other controversial filler."
my friend has a standard dachshund who eats three meals a day an' still seems hungry. they give the dog ten large kibbles of vet prescribed dry dog food. is this enough for the 9 year old dog?
raw food is bad for dogs but if you want to kill your dog then be my guest but I know better not to feed my dog some raw chicken when it gives them worms so I keep my dogs on some commercial dog food
Raw chicken doesn't kill dogs and doesn't give them worms. Raw food is a species appropriate diet, commercial dog food is overcooked leftovers that aren't fit for human consumption.
Dogs do need food they can digest and raw food has been the species appropriate solution for thousands of years. You've obviously not actually looked into what is in "dog food" or you would not feed it ever. Most of what is in dog food, and this food in particular, is ingredients that are not fit for human consumption. Dogs are carnivores and Eukanuba is full of grains, beet pulp (just a filler) and meat from rendering plants. I've seen so many sick dogs get better just by switching to raw!
Everything you've posted about raw feeding is not true. I don't understand why you'd post lies on purpose but I do understand that you are hurting your dogs by sticking with kibble. It causes diabetes, kidney problems and worse. Please don't get any more dogs. And please stop posting lies.
How dare you say I'm killing my dog and I will not drop it! If you don't want to learn that is fine but stop trying to trash me and others that know better. I will not stop posting till you stop posting lies.
you must know Im right anytime you keep bring up the same old subject but rather Im right or wrong I know one thing and that is that Im right about raw food
So mother nature evolved them so that they wouldn"t be able to make the best with food as they would find it? And that is why they need dog food? I think that is a whole bunch of BS commming from the guys who sell you the dog food. I got nothing agaisnt dog food, its easy and practical and could be nutritional but dont sell the crap dogs can't be without it.
dry food is the best food raw food been getting my dogs sick for years and years so if you want to give your dog raw food sadly Im not going to stop you but me and my dog is HAPPY with dry food and thats what you suppose to do when you own a dog
Really? because People who have switched their dogs to a raw diet from commercial dog foods have found the following:dogs who were previously un-energetic, and sluggish become completely new dogs once the raw diet feeding begins* allergies their dogs previously had on commercial foods, disappear once they start with the raw diet
* arthritis has significantly reduced or disappeared in some dogs switched to raw * better weight control * no more doggy odour! * their dogs are living longer on a raw diet than what their other dogs previously had survived on commercial dog foods * that their bitches managed their pregnancies better * better weight and survival figures in puppies
kibble= (hard dog food) And your a moron for thinking raw food "can mess your dog up" Do wolves boil their food? lmao I don't think so. Raw chicken legs are VERY VERY good for dogs. It's natural unlike "dog food" Also dogs who eat raw food are healthier and live longer. You don't see skin problems, teeth problems, tumors and other illness caused by dog food.
do some research. Dogs digestive systems are a lot different than ours. they're dogs, not people.
The makers of this video need to learn to "show - not tell." Instead of showing the two hosts talking the whole time, they should be showing them actually feeding the dogs and doing what they're describing.
what food do you recomend? do you recommend smaller, more local companies or more natural. or just more meat?? please answer, im about to get another pup and i should know! thanks
Actually you should only feed your dog real food. dry dog food or ANY commercial dog food causes many diseases and skin conditions. Dogs have only eaten "dog food" for the past 100 years. You will find you have a much healthier and happier dog if you feed your dog real food. Start with rice and chicken so they won't get loose stool after about 4 days feed them anything healthy. Veggies, RAW meat and UNCOOKED bones are great
Very very wrong! dogs digestive systems have much stronger stomach acid than ours..they have a shorter digestive tract that eliminates any chance of salmonella and E coli ! wolves don't get worms... do they? no..dogs..are wolves correct? only domesticated. you are shorting the lifespan and creating lives full of disease when you feed your dog "dog food" Skin conditions, cancer, tumors yes folks that's dog food!
You can find these delightful chemicals in all of your "trusted pet foods" Yes, enkanuba included...and YES iams included..and yes science diet! wait! doesn't our vets recommend this food? of course! they get a nice fat check for doing so and they get lots of business for your sick dogs and cats!
Okay, this is a half truth when your dog is on kibble for so long he will get diarrhea eating anything different. Their digestive systems aren't made for dry kibble everyday. They're a lot like ours they need variety. When you introduce new food you always do it gradually. Brown rice and a small amount of chicken will not give your dog diarrhea. two or three days on yogurt rice and a small amount of chicken. Then increase the meat and add some veggies.
i would recomend enkanuba to you, but because it has more meat in it, you should boil, or cook some vegetables (human vegetales) and blend it with the dog food. Remeber, enkanuba is an excellent way to keep your dog healthy for years.!! good luck with your puppy, and just to make sure im giving you the right advice, can you please tell me what breed your puppy will be?
