im a 15 year old girl i go to a performing arts school in canada. when i was a baby before my dad left he sang rock and roll to me. after he left i started wacthing musicals on tv and i saw mr. colm wilkinson.and i feel in love and i would sing all his songs as i still do. then my mom married my stepdad and i found out he liked colm wilkinson as much as i did and from that moment i felt as if colm lead me to the man i call father. i know its a little quirky(and odd) but to me hes amazing
Colm Wilkenson is a person from my youth in Dublin. We always knew that he would turn out to be one of the top 5 in musicals. BUT he also plays a MEAN JAZZ guitar, this is where he began. The group "The KEYS" in st Mary; in Terenure... Went to see him live last Sunday in Wicklow..after all these years, he is just as good LIVE. A great talent and a proud Irishman.
i love colm wilkinson and i think he is one of the most epic broadway performers to walk this planet, but i dont like this, not for colm, it just doesnt fit...... robert cuccioli is so much better, sorry...
I was Jekyll & Hyde ( Pre-Broadway) with Linda Eder & Colm Wilkinson at the Kravis Center in Palm Beach Florida, with My Partner & our Mothers. It Was Unbelievable, Extraordinary, Spectacular !!!! I will never forget how wonderful it was, I got the Broadway Album also, and although it was still a Great Musical, some of the changes should have not happened.
@AndrewGruden Youre right, of course. He IS a legend in Musical Theater. I own four different soundtracks with him and he has some good stuff. However, Lennon and McCartney are two phenomenal song writers, but I would never put them on a list of top artists musically. Likewise, Colm is a performer, not a technical master. The man pops out high notes easy as pie and puts some of the best emotion into his songs. So it was wong to say he's awful. I still disagree on the vowel and vibraddo parts.
@liljee16 Can i just lol for the moment at the fact that you know so much...yet you cannot spell vibrato properly. The vowels are not "awful", that is his accent. Essentially, you just became a racist. When Pavarotti sang in English, it still sounded Italian. Colm just has a bad accent, but in no way does it hinder his singing ability. No one in theatre should have pure vowels, because then it would sound like oratorio or early opera.
@jc19940 Haha you're entirely right. That was how my theory teacher would always write it in high school so I fell into the bad habit of writing it that way. You may notice that I corrected my use of the word "awful" in my post to AndrewGruden. You didn't notice that (or where I told Rifarah that I wasn't going to be sucked into a fight) because you were racing to insult me and call me racist, which you totally thought was clever. You're talking about singing entirely different '
@jc19940 languages and comparing that to having a territorial accent which does, hinder his ability to sing. You're calling me racist because you actually have nothing to say. Obviously his accent doesn't affect his range or power, but it does affect his technical mastery. Theatre people actually ARE supposed to have good vowels unless there are stylistic changes (Rent-rock) or accent (Oklahoma-western), so your entire statement is actually wrong and you're just being vituperative.
@liljee16 His vowels are perfect. He is one of the best technical Singers of all time. The Annunciates better than 99% of the people in the world. On top of that the man is a living legend in the world of Musical Theatre. That would be like saying that Lennon and McCartney were awful or Beethoven had no idea what he was doing.
I love this version of This is the Moment. Much better than the one I sang. (not just because it was Colm, but the arrangement itself) That video is buried somewhere deep in the bowels of YouTube... :)
it was in the raddisson blu hotel, sligo, ireland its was really good coz it was a small place wit not too many people i wish i could sit through the whole concert again
brilliant...such a moving song sung by the best singer of all time! I could listen to him every waking moment but, alas, I have to work. Colm will never be second best to any singer.
It's been two months since my last comment and nobody else has commented or even heard the work. Please send this to all your friends and co-workers. This is a masterwork of vocals.
Colm *OWNS* this song!

He's so awful..... His vowels are too wide and he changes them half way through words, plus vibraddo is whacked out.
