  • can you plese tell me what does bob harris says in the first question?? "the never....??"

  • @aliquandos Harris says "The inevitable question..." and doesn't even have to ask for John to answer.

  • My opinion Is .. I believe John Truly loved Yoko , I think The Beatles broke up the Beatles .. Maybe they was ready to do there own thing & Grew apart ..Yoko is a very strong woman & John loved that .. Now as for May .. I think she was A substitute for Yoko ..But who knows .. I was not there .. I just think Yoko Was Johns true love " The way he looked at her kinda gives me that idea .. My opinion ..

  • What a feminine look he has in the first interview.

  • Ok seriously I think he didn't love may pang... and his love for yoko and the one he had for cynthia before was also selfish...yoko was weird... but he was still more guilty... we can't always blame yoko or believe to may that john was crazy for her when he only wanted to have her without making her really happy... he used her and treated like an idiot... :/ it's sad but true.

  • Lennon seems very lethargic during these interviews when he was seperated from Yoko...seems kind of quiet...lacking energy and confidence on the other hand I think these were his best days as a solo artist and the interviews were extremely informative.

  • If he was so happy with Yoko then why did he bother to leave in the first place. And when he returned to Yoko he continued to see may. If he loved Yoko so much why was he still sleeping with May when he returned to Yoko.

  • john said himself he was miserable being away from yoko. he was filling the missing void with alcohol and drugs.. i hate when people blame yoko. she is a beautiful person and john loved her...

  • What people FAIL misberaly to mention is that shortly before he passed he had told Yoko that he wanted to be with May Pang. And obviously he stayed with Yoko until he passed, but this whole "Yoko was the love of his life thing is bull. Yes she was a love but not THE love. That never gets mentioned for some reason.

  • May Pang was way prettier than Yoko Ono anyway...No offence to Yoko, I mean she had nice hair...

  • @melisha0303 When he was with Yoko, he had a really bad relationship with Paul. He even didn't keep in touch with his son Julian and ex-wife Cynthia. During the break he had with May, John was so much happier and May directly reunited him with his son and helped them find closure. Then John got back with Yoko and became unhappy again.

  • @rinsohma107 I dont believe so. If he was "unhappy again" then why did he even bother staying and getting back with Yoko? We can never really judge their relationship, if it was good or bad because we never have witnessed their relationship, personally. We hear different stories but we never know which is true or which isn't.

But one thing I do see, obviously, he loved Yoko so much and there must be a reason for that.

I think Yoko really made John happy.

  • @ShadeBored I agree wholeheartedly. Anyone that understands what real love is knows that John and Yoko were really in love. Also, as a musician, John expressed his love for Yoko in some of the most explicit ways possible. I mean, he gave up writing for five years to spend time with Sean and Yoko. Not to mention all the songs he wrote about them. Everyone blames Yoko for the breakup of the Beatles, but even they admitted the tension started when Epstein died. Paul's ambitions also offended them.

  • During this time he was with Mary Pang. Mary was a better for John than that bitch Yoko. During this time Mary arranged to get John to have a better relationship with his son from his first wife. While before this, Yoko has cut off contact between he and his first son.

  • @icemaneu I meant May Pang, not Mary Pang.

  • John so free of venom, not hating or talking bad about anybody, not denying the possibility that the Beatles would work together again, saying he is close with Paul, he's still George's friend... I think that's the real John Lennon. But when he was under Yoko's influence he was exactly the opposite.

  • Moste fun he said, he jam with paul in LA, and 50 other ppl just watch them =)).. PaulMcCartney & John is 1900 history true music legends =).. Its like Bach / mozart worked in same band =))

  • @rareu4532 Exactly! I always said that it was like having Maradona and Pelé playing for the same team. The idea is the same.

  • To quote a bumper sticker I just saw recently, "I Still Blame Yoko" :)

  • Aren't you Yoko haters forgetting something... This whole "lost weekend"thing was Yoko's idea, since she thought it might do good for their relationship(it did)and it was John who insisted they get back together. Yoko might have been jealous of the relationship of John and Paul, but that's only natural. How many people John was jealous of?I was so surprised to find that Lennon fans actually dislike Yoko..Shouldn't they love her?

  • @albuorkka BULLSHIT

  • @albuorkka I know it's Yoko's idea--don't you think that's so cruel and sick to play with the emotions and feelings of May's and John's, especially May's because she was still so young.

  • Yoko is not ugly physically (just like John said); but she's not pretty inside or outside either. From her naked videos, she had saggy breasts and butt! From the inside, any good-hearted person will not keep a young son and his father apart or play with a young girl's life!!!! That's soooooooooooo mean and cruel!! Maybe, the karma is Julian being so much talented!

  • @MsAl0216 I don't claim Yoko to be an altruist, but neither was Lennon. What do you mean with a little girl? Do you mean her own daughter? Hoh did she play with Kyoko? I don't understand. And perhaps she was partly the reason John didn't see Julian quite as often but really, it was Lennon's (bad) decision, not hers.

  • GREAT...NICE...greeting from italy

  • He's the hottest and the smartest guy ever and he looks healthy in here, I'm glad for that....LOVE HIM SO MUCH! <3333

  • @BeatlEPMJo He looks really healthy because the poisonous snake was not around him.

  • Great post - thanks for sharing

  • why do they call it his lost weekend!!?? it was more like his found weekend!!

  • when i'm sad i gain weight.... and search old friends.... :) are you all so sure he was so damn happy if he decided to come back to Yoko anyway? he loved yoko... no matter what we want people.

  • @LemingTV At least there's one voice of reason on here. I'm not pretending I know what went on between John and Yoko. I leave that up to the Yoko haters, who are always so sure they do know. But one thing I can say is John loved her. He was still writing songs about her when he died. And he doesn't look any "happier" here than he did on the Mike Douglas/ Dick Cavett interviews with Yoko. He looks a little sheepish here, if anything.

  • @MckyMseNTarotCrds

    Right!!! :)

  • I like this because John doesnt sound so bitter when he talks about the others, particularly Paul.

  • Great vid! Love it! Thanks for posting this.

  • anyone who hasn't needs to read the book Freddie Seaman wrote( John and Yoko's manservant) I forget the name, but it was a chilling portrait of Yoko, and documents her control and abuse of John. That their relationship was a sham, they hadn't slept together in over 2 years. She told him she didn't know who the Beatles were when they met. i think she had ties to the CIA.

  • After the lost weekend, john had an iterview where he said "I may have been the happiest I've ever been... I loved this woman (Pang), I made some beautiful music and I got so fucked up with booze and shit and whatever." John did actually have a great time and could live freely without his lousy bitch (yoko). Not only did she fuck up his friendship with paul, but she also took julian his dad. It's quite obvious that when yoko was around, jul' wouldn't get a chance to see him.

  • As best friends that they were, paul could see right through Yoko from the get go. It's plain to see from these Yoko-less period interviews that without her presence an amicable work relationship with best buddy Paul was not just possible but highly likely. Just look at him! He's plump, rosy-cheeked and talking about a possible reunion! And then, the crypt keeper returned and spured him back to a constant state of Zombie. She was poison!!!

  • Anyone who thinks yoko was a godsend for him hasn't watched.listened to interviews from this time period or read anything related to may pang. She might have made him open up a little bit artistically, but she did it by controlling his life. She became the overbearing mother he never had and the world suffered for it. /end rant

  • he wanted to be with paul during the whole "apart from yoko" period. i can always tell when i see him at this time, because he's in a better mood, relaxed, conciliatory, doesn't seem bitter about the beatles at all. seems ok with it even.

  • I have never though Yoko Ono was much more than Fame HUngry, and I have to wonder what was wrong with John to allow himself to be manipulated so thoroughly. May showed him how happy he could be, NOT being manipulated. It's all very sad.

  • i wish there was video footage of that jam session in '74

  • its true when he go back with the dragon he looked starved, rip john

  • Thought I had seen everything, but hadn't seen these clips. Thanks. They would have gotten together to do an album someday if John hadn't been killed. Might not have happened til the '90s, but it would have happened eventually.

  • @vantalge beurk...what a horrid thought...PLASTIC Oh NO BAND would've opened for Christina Aguilera and Bruce Forsythe would have duetted with Petula Clark...hey maybe that's still possible. Reunions sucks...orgies are OK

  • Turn each other on? O_O

  • I miss you john!!!!111

  • where was he shot? in the head ? where is the guy who shot him now

  • @PEDROCLASSIC No, not in the head. he is in prison.

  • @PEDROCLASSIC He was shot 4 times, twice in the shoulder, twice in the back. The guy who shot him is still in jail, being denied parole countless times

  • @breezestar09 If that's the case i would rather rot in jail if i were him. they'll kill him too right? thanks.

  • the interviewer is sketchy

  • John was better off without Yoko's control.

But fate thought otherwise and John is forever under Yoko-control. The John presented will always be the Yoko controlled version of John.

  • You have a point. Genesis did that for years...

  • For all this talk about his extreme love for Joko, he always seemed so much happier without her. I know I am.

  • Heh.

Curious how his relationship with Paul was much better during the mid 70's, when Yoko wasn't around.........

  • I just thought for all you people who might not know, that "Long and Winding Road" documentary John talks about at the end was not finished. It was supposed to be a whole documentary about the Beatles, ending with a live concert (just like Let it Be).The project was cancelled because John was sadly murdered by that ASSHOLE Chapman The project was finished,however,18-20 years later...we call it "The Beatles Anthology".

just so you know, if anybody said that before, sorry,i didnt read the comments.

  • in which year they filmed this?

  • argh only if he didn't go back to yoko but instead went to see paul and linda with may....

wtf did he have to go back to yoko?!!

  • is that bob harris interviewing john

  • Typical" I wouldnt know if it would be Worth it..?.." Em" what about the fans..??.

"But" a bit late for that "now "John"..!!. Same goes for that assholes "Oasis". at there re-united gig in Manchester They had the "Neck to call the fans that claimed a refund on tickets "cunts." to there bollocked up performance, Talk about bitting the hands that feed ye..!!??!!

  • what does he mean if they (the beatles) got into the studio and turned each other on again?

  • the Beatles produced amazing music becuase they "turned each other on", they reacted well to each other and egged each other on. Plus the healthy competition between John and Paul produced those amazing songs. That's what he means by "turn each other on".

  • Imagine an album with the best pieces from "Imagine", "Mind Games", "Walls and bridges", "Double Fantasy", "All things musst pass", "Band on the run", "Ram", "Venus and mars", "Wings at the speed of sound", "Wild life", "Plastic Ono band", "Milk and honey", "Back to the egg", "London town".

  • Hi

I did just that...I have all the those albums...made my own compilation CD but added Ringo's ''Photograph'' on to it.

  • you forgot ringos ringo album, one or two of the songs could have been on the next albums.

  • Just imagine if john went back to abby road around 1979 and started recording an album with paul if they made up.

  • Just imagine if Ono let John to New Orleans and just do an song with Paul.

  • Just imagine if your granma had wheels.

  • Damn it Chapman. Lennon/McCartney compositions could have resumed if it wasn't for u.

Holding grudges is not the way to go. If only the Beatles had copped on and reunited before 1980. This life is full of 'what if's unfortunately

  • @Ruthybobz19 But it´s a question if George would agree to rejoin them. I think the bitterness between him and Paul lasted even longer between John and Paul, maybe because George and Paul were friends even before Paul met John... even on Anthology there are some moments when George doesn´t look happy being asked about the past... I´m glad that they worked it out before George died...

  • @MichalFokt thats true- we all know the bitter residue left when a good friendship disappears suddenly.

I was at a paul mccartney concert in December with a very dear friend. We haven't spoken since. I'm very bitter after it as there was no explanation given. We're both finishin college now so it will take a lot for me to forgive her. we're goin to a concert in june with 4 friends!! I'm being civil to her but that isn't being reciprocated .I think a mutual friend is disappointed about it too

  • @MichalFokt That was one of the good thing about George's death. It wasn't so abrupt that they couldn't have a reconciliation. Paul and George did know each other since childhood, Paul admitted to talking down to George, during childhood, since he was a little bit older. The footage of them during Let it Be grumbling about how to play the guitar during a song, makes you wonder if George was having a flashback of sorts to when they were kids.

  • It's hard to find good bandmates that you wanna be with, so it doesn't make sense to me why they all didn't want to hang together, after all they went through, and they were still friends, like the Stones hung in there.. thx~ V624161

  • the film hes talking about ''the long and winding rode'' wasn't its final name let it be or is that different film?

  • no, it became the beatles anthology from 1995

  • thanks :) going to download it now...

  • George invited all the Beatles to the Bengladeshshow. John was planning to attend though chickened out last minute, due in part to George stating that YOKO WAS NOT INVITED!

  • actually it was Allen Klein who set it up...

  • Ah, his Lost Weekend. He was happier, his face was fuller (he was actually eating), he was hanging out with Paul.

Then he got back with Mother Yoko.

  • Totally agree. Good old Yoko

  • @superman11978 I have read somewhere that May Pang who was with him at that time was sent to him by Yoko, so the control was still there I think...

  • @superman11978 but yoko confessed that paul helped john to comeback with her

  • @thethirdeye9 That was the worst thing Paul McCartney ever did.

  • @superman11978 BRILLIANT COMMENT

  • @superman11978 He was not hanging out with Paul on the Lost Weekend. He was with Harry Nilsson. It was reportedly Yoko's idea that John and May Pang take a break together. John said that when he showed up in the morning to record with Harry, Harry's idea was to have a drink first and everything would slide downhill from there.

  • John had offered to go on stage with George for a few songs during George's 1974 concert at Madison Square Garden. George thought John was being condenscending and angrily refused.

  • Wouldn't it have been amazing if John joined George on stage and they both played Cry For A Shadow...

  • The film John talked about was the original version of what became The Beatles Anthology. It was made by Neil Aspinall in 1970-71 with only footage, no interviews, then shelved for over 20 years. When it was revived in the 1990's, more footage and interviews were added making it an 8 hour video project, rather than a 1 1/2 hour documentary movie.

  • Check my channel for the longer version of this interview.

  • HE IS SO HOT!!!

    LOVE U JOHN RIP!!!

  • The noise John makes at the start of the video is amazing!

  • I can't remember who, I'm sure it was a Quarrymen member, who tried to see John in the late 1970s, and Yoko was against it. John had to put his foot down to see his friend from the old days. I'm sure it was something small too, like dinner and small talk.

  • Any interviews John has during the split with Yoko Ono shows him as a happier, contented person. I believe she was jealous of John's natural talent & his friendship with the other Beatles, particularly Paul.

  • @Marse73 she always nagged him about the dirty dishes in the sink

  • Yep, I believe May, John wanted it. She was good for him - he looks so damn good here, healthy and happy. The way he says he and Paul are close again is a stab in the heart...

What I want to know is - what the HELL did Yoko do to him?! Compare this to 1980. He looked like shit (sorry Johnny, I love you but it's true) and was back to the old "no way no Beatles reunion" line.

  • I keep reading about how he was the happy househusband and those five years were the best of his life etc...but he was gaunt, pale, clearly didn't eat, exercise or spend much time outside. I think that you should believe your eyes more than your ears, and during his "miserable" lost weekend I see someone truly energetic, vibrant and positively glowing. I feel like we've been fed a crock of shit.

  • Wasn't he on some cracy macro-biotic diet? Maybe that's partially to blame and the smokes

  • @nerdygrl64

some cracy macro-biotic diet = heroin

  • That's great stuff... May Pang mentioned John considering a Beatles reunion. I guess this verifies it! Excellent clips.
