Def the real thing, He's just weeding the melody out without doing his voice in, not easy to sing the high part on the is song without giving it some. It's not like he was using it as a perforrmance so it's very reaxed!
@flowerdoodle, jerney4974, MarkAllison57 and rjmprod:
THIS IS NOT FAKE! This recording was taken from the BBC program "The Lost Lennon Tapes" which was shown some time back. If you go to my channel you can hear a better copy-louder and more clear than what is here-of this same recording which Lennon did PRIOR to 1964 according to what Lennon told American journalist Al Aronowitz.
For those who are calling this fake and-in the case of "rjmprod" even insulting the person who posted this-you can all take your complaints to Paul McCartney, who has listened to this and pronounced it GENUINE. This is John Lennon, the one and only.
@Babyhowdy233 Ok, I believe you. Upon another listen it actually does sound like him--hes being playful with his voice is why its misleading people I suppose. He's singing falsetto, which we arent accustomed to hearing from Lennon. Thanks for the info
I grew up to this music, John was god to me for my whole youth...I sent this song to my 12 year old girlfriend, and it pulled her because John could say what I felt but could never say...he sadly used to put some of these songs down post B's, but truth is when you hear them acoustically they are so daring and brilliant. And no one had a voice like John's. It made you believe everything was important and true...I shall always miss him...thank you for this, so much
The world that John envisaged had no money. Money is our problem, we need to evolve beyond and that simply means making a decision not to use it anymore. It's not that difficult. If we could do that John's vision becomes a reality. Money is control, free yourselves. Support the Venus Project.
@masterbainbridge (I'm the same person who made this video) Read In His Own Write and you'll understand...I'm not stupid, I've been there a million times...you prat.
OK- we'd all like to think it's John Listen to the recording- this would have been in the early 60's (64/65 ish) Because this song was written specifically for the film Hard Day's Night. The recording has a clear guitar yet the vocal has been distorted. This can only be done on a 2-track recording. This would have been made on a single microphone recording so this stinks!
The charecteristic 'You-hoo' phraes at the end of certainb lines did not appear until the early 70's with John. FAKE!
Likewise, I'm a lifelong Beatle fan (almost 60) and this is one of the most amazing of all the past finds I've heard. It is wonderful on so many levels. The ahh-haaa-ha-ha. What he was thinking about what the melody would be. Thanks for sharing.
Do you know when it was made? Is it a demo made before the record?
@Lennonmeansrocknroll....I'm 56, John was God to me, every few weeks a new single, always THAT voice, grew my hair at same rate, Dad took us to Shea 65, he wrote soundtrack of my life, and yes if you know his voice, that's Lennon 4sure. Don't care how you found this, thank you..ps, for those who don't get his thing for Yoko, aside from 16 years of 3 buddies, she was brilliant, independent, and damn just gorgeous, exotic, what a body, and as creative as any artist..well, except John, top of list
why must people always bitch and fight, its youtube, chill folks, theres more to life than arguing, if its john awesome, he sounded funny, but its awesome, if not then oh well...kay folks? the song is still beautiful... thanks for posting hun :)
@TheSpecialK56 You better go eat it then...there's no question it's him to real fans who actually understand and realize that he's singing quietly and that is why he sounds a little different. Jeez blatently him though
No one cares how old anybody is. No body cares if you know all the songs. The point of the band was to sing songs for people and make them happy or have alot of different emotions about them. They didn't want you to learn every detail about them, they quit touring because of people like you guys, the over crazed, obsessive, and competetive fans! (past tense btw)
This is great! Lennon really had this nailed even in it's demo stage. And of course the ah ha's preceding those on Imagine by about 7 years. Love it...!!!
@liverpoolforeve ok? i was able to sing all of sgt. peppers when i was 5 but i don't go telling everybody! a huge majority of beatle fans are really young!
@liverpoolforeve Good for you man. I'm glad you said your age. It means this music is timeless and will go on appealing to young and old far into the future.
Aww..nice photos..and I swear, if your brother looks like John does in that picture..(drool, drool)..lol. You're 13, eh? I'm at least 3x your age and I have to commend you for GOOD TASTE. The Beatles are my favorite band in the world and John is my absolute favorite Beatle, and it's wonderful to see the younger generation appreciating their music, their charm, their looks, their wit and their significant contribution to rock and roll..& you've been to Johnny's house, too? You lucky dawg! ;-)
This is NOT john Lennon singing. Get Real people. He was'nt the best vocalist in the world but he was certainly better than this guy. 'If I Fell' was a McCartney melody anyway. and a Lennon/McCArtney lyric.

Where do you get that this is a Paul melody? From John's Playboy interviews he said it's his song. In Paul's biography Many Years From Now, Paul maintains it was a co-write with emphasis on John. He further comments that John could write good ballad melodies citing this as an example.
John jokes by singing it "ala Paul McCartney" vocal/ higher part (but obviously not in Paul's actual style!). Tender in parts actually, but "tongue in cheek", definitely...overall. Thanks, Peace.
