  • this is brilliant !!!

  • ur guyz are the best

  • I used to type this poem in my typing test in the typing tutor, today my typing speed is 90 words per minute; :P but the last line of this poem alwayz brought that tear to the edge of my eye, but it never fall !!

  • great match.. great competitors... great poem

  • Are you all crazy??? "If" is an exceptional poem and Nadal made it sound like a child's essay in second grade, especially compared to Federer's reading! Very bad choice!

  • @TubelessMichelen Federer won one more time... poor Nadal...

  • @TubelessMichelen except we already know that he doesn't speak english well and as far as we know hasn't studied it i think we can say he's done pretty well....also given the fact this was a documentary for the 2008 wimbledon final, i'd say very appropriate choice because he was the champion.

  • @dkong13able Still... practice is all it takes! He had to study 5 f****** lines! Even a 5-year-old can do that! On the other hand... those who thought about that promo video, should respect the fact that it's not a promo about Federer!

Anyway... "If" is a breathtaking poem! That's all that matters to me and I guess we all agree on that. You obviously love tennis, so this video is more "sentimental" to you than it is to me. I respect that...

  • @TubelessMichelen it is HIS tennis play that got him to this postion not his english as a sportsman is it his responsibility to recite literature in a foreign language to your hign snobby level?

  • @TheTc970 I respect the fact that you enjoyed the video, but I didn't. As simple as that...! Just expressing my personal opinion. Great men and great poem, but the choice makes us -or at least me- compare them, in a bad way. It's inevitable if you have ears!!! And for the last time... I'm just talking about the video, not the quality of the players!

Now, about my "high snobby level"... I'll take it as a compliment, my friend, because English is not my maternal language and yet... I try!

  • @TubelessMichelen so you think Nadal does not try. I respect the fact it is your opinion however it does not give you the rite to compare him to a child.

  • @TheTc970 It is called democracy and freedom of speech, my friend... with all the respect! ;)

  • Beautiful!

  • so nice

  • Awesome!

  • Thanks for posting this ... beautiful reading by two beautiful human beings.

  • Two Legends reciting wise words. Two rivals sharing great thoughts. Two friends meeting in one poem. Magnificent.

  • @joraco hi xD

  • fine piece of british literature

  • well, that was inspirational, I believe i'll go try out for the US Open now

  • If you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat those two imposters just the same

  • Very good video. ;)

  • I love u Rafa!!!!! So adorable!!! so perfect!!! as a tennis player and as a person!!!!!!! U'r too good to be true!!! vamoossss Champ!

  • vaaamos rafa!!!!

  • lol, i read along wiv it as they read it and i do the accents and stuff lol :)

  • I love you Roger

  • I honestly think this video sums up Roger and Rafas immense respect of eachother, their incredible talent and supreme sportsmanship. These two really are examples to all others in sport. Rafa and Roger always try to keep their head in situations most wouldn't, i hold the greatest respect for these two incredible players.

  • classic poem read by 2 tennis greats! Fantastic!

  • Epic, fucking epic...

    two of the best ever.

  • Where can i find them reading the whole peom?

  • that's it

  • Great men residing a great poem.........doesn't get better than this.

  • @kadivikram its 'reciting' not 'residing'

  • @imonasofa1 Apologize for the spelling mistake, however you got the point! cheers!

  • shame Rafa sounds like a retard when reading!

  • anyone knows this wonderful music full of class and perfect for wimbledon? thanks :)

  • @nicolasprov It's from the BBC documentary Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but I'm not sure about the piece itself.

  • it makes my cry :(

    so beautiful :x

  • this poem kind of makes me remember wut has happened over the past few months and weeks during this ATP season nadal lost to soderling in the fourth round and wen he was asking for autographs no one even bothered to reply and lots of people doubted that federer would ever win the french open because he wasn't the player he used to be but eventually he did win probably one of my favorite poems

  • Afaik lines from 'If' (I think the ones about triumph and disaster) are inscribed over the players' entrance to Centre Court - it's the last thing they see before they come out for the final.

  • "Aren't they making enough money.." No, it's not a commercial broadcaster in the conventional sense, so this is exactly the sort of thing you get on the BBC where adverts for McDonald's and Reebok would be on any other broadcaster around the world. If you don't like it I suggest you stick to Indian television, presumably the best in the world...

  • This is a promo made by the BBC for their coverage of the 2008 Championships... a brilliant idea and even better outcome!

    Vamos Rafa!!

  • Most people don't know that Kipling wrote this poem for his 11 year old son who I believe then died in the war. To have these 2 champions recite some of it is awesome - this was the 2007 Wimbledon and Rafa looks on so forlorn

  • Simply the best.. Inspiring.. Go Roger Federer! The Best Ever!

  • Absolutely, incredibly inspiring! When was this made and for what reason?

  • Simply overwhelming!

  • fantastic

  • Great poem, great players, a little cheesy on the soundtrack, otherwise swell.

  • friggin awesome..

  • I really don't understand this poem until I heard this.

This is the best way to say IT

  • Oh and for those of you who like the music in the background, its Destiny Theme, by Craig Armstrong from Elizabeth the Golden Age

  • Great video, thanks for posting Nietje19, heres another quote which is really inspiring: Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. - Lance Armstrong
