Oh come on, the voltage is high enough to arc without the gas. Move it further apart and if it arcs only when the gas is turned on, then you've proved something.
Hi i love the way this gets people annoyed ..what people miss (1 its hydrogen gas on demand no tank , but the concept of the spark in the gas was to see an arc and its effect , look up lahf ( lyne atomic hydrogen furnace) and atomic welding , after this play i understood it needed to be hho gas .. but the video is over a year old .. think 5000 degrees on metal and at what temp water reverts into h and o gases ( the gas gets you to 3200 but the arc really heats things up)
well, the flame, like the arc is made of plasma. Plasma is ionized matter, so we don`t have atoms, we have ions. the flame however, has less ionized matter then the arc, so conducts electricity more better than the air, that`s why the arc is influienced by the flame. I made some experiments at home and I noticed that the arc is diverted through the flame, because of the heat and ionized matter concentration. excuse my english :-)
eat a can of beans, bend over, turn on the arc,=hot seat. because stephen said so

I am not surprised that hydrogen lit up. LOL It's naturally a flammable gas. It is to be expected. :)

I fail to see how that was any different to just lighting it with a Bic

Modulate the high voltage with audio and make a flame speaker. You might need a cleaner HV supply than that Jacob's ladder for power, though.

A normal hydrogene flame! Thank you for wasting my time...

Wow!... this is very interesting... the Plasma arc seems to fuse with Hydrogen flame! You made a very good point here. 5 to 100 stars!
