Black women had only started to find solid steriotyped roles in Hollywood cinema in the late eighties, early nineties. I think now, with people being more aware of world cinema, breaking in to typical 'Hollywood' movies to become well known is less of an issue.

Oleg Cassini who dated her and also dated Grace Kelly later, said that Gene was more beautiful than Grace. He also called her "an extraordinary genetic marvel" and a masterpiece.

She truly has the most perfect face ever in my opinion.
