  • Actually sturgeon go hundreds of miles up the Columbia and enter the Snake River too. Recent studies have proven sturgeon from San Francisco, Sacramento, Columbia, Snohomish, Skagit, Frasier co-mingle and migrate back and forth. Some might even move to Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula.

  • Iki Jime

  • "if you ever throw a piece of that one the river it's so dense it will float" dense means compact and heavy for its size, therefore if it were dense it would sink.....

  • Where's all the caviar?!

  • yeah kill it dumb ass. u said u bled it. bs.

  • Alright, I'll agree with the masses that it would've been decent to kill it first. I always kill my fish before I clean them.

At any rate, this is a very informative video. Nicely done, and a good instructional. I had never seen this done before.

I'm counting down the days until I can get out west to catch one myself.

  • WHERE THE CAVIAR AT!?

  • omg i was so sad when i saw that it was still alive plz kill it next time put it out of it's missery

  • @t32fresh Shut up, noob......

  • @trinitymike shut up noob? noob is a gaming term for someone who is begining to play a game fuck your stupid

  • @t32fresh You are so stupid you are unaware of how stupid you are...'noob' now means any person who is new or unexperienced at something......and the fish was dead the second its spine was cut, so it WAS dead before it got filleted....

  • @trinitymike it's funny how you call me stupid when u dont even know me your an e-wana be thug man go out side and see the sun once and while

  • @t32fresh All I NEEDED to know to call you stupid was to read your semi-literate, ill-informed post about filleting; Ironic that you tell ME to see the sun once in a while when I'M the one who apparently knows more than you about filleting fresh fish... It would seem to ME that YOU are the one who needs the exposure to outdoor activities...noob.....I'd offer to take you on a fishing trip, pal...but I doubt you'd be able to live without your XBox 360 for more than a day or two...

  • @trinitymike acouple facts 1:i dont have an Xbox or ps3 2: i am a fucking athlete 3: im outside atleast 4 hours out of my day and i love fishing and im in a place where it's illegal to even take them out of the water so yea...

  • @t32fresh illegal to take them out???WTF???

  • @trinitymike Hahaha you're stupid!

  • @trinitymike I really like it, when i insult someone on the net and they reply saying "I don't give a fuck about, what you think" not realizing, the fact that by replying, they actualy give a fuck! :)

You're right...Say's you...and you are some stupid idiot, who sits all day long in front of his PC with his XBox 360, with wich he couldn't live even for a day, so yeah! :)...

Do me favour, read all of t32fresh's replies to your comments again, untill your IQ goe's up to atleast 70!

  • Im a fisher but i think your a monster to fillet a fish while its alive.

  • That poor, poor, delicious sturgeon

  • That poor, poor, delicious sturgeon

  • where can i find start to finish how to bleed and fillet a sturgeon

  • i love the fight u get when u go sturgeon fishing

  • why would u do this

  • this was very informative, thank you

  • Can you guys tell me the exact knife you were using because I need a new knife and that one seems to work GREAT

  • @zacho361

I think he used a Dexter fillet knife.

  • Comment removed

  • @zacho361 The guy doing the fileting said a Dexter Russel filet knife and doing a Web search for that turns up plenty of links. Search for "Dexter Russel" and "filet knife", or without the latter, but when I did it without "filet knife", a link to a page at fishermansheadquarters[dot]com was returned. That page shows a good number of Dexter knives, along with prices. I think the one used in the video corresponds to the DEXTER-P94813 at that Web site.

  • LMAO @ 3:21 "Holy shit that knife is sharp aint she"

  • No eggs? :(

  • Lucky!!! Sturgeons are awesome!

  • thats for the info, i cut mine up just fine...

  • Nice fileting

  • @ 2:00 guy asks "how many fillets will we get?" Seriously?

  • @gmc07joe

Yeah, I ask stupid questions and sometimes look stupid even when I know the answer. But I ask these questions because others will ask anyway, so why not help educate the people who don't know. With some fish you get two fillets and others four. It's not a stupid question really.

  • @jbeath with a pike you get 5 :)

  • @gmc07joe Actually this is good question lil buddy. He makes a good point by differentiating with Halibut. Also guess what? You also get 4 fillets with Tuna!! So stfu and learn your fish. Guess what is a great way to learn about fish? ASKING DUMB QUESTIONS. YEAH, SERIOUSLY!

  • The sturgeon head is the best part. There is a part near the gills that look like beef and taste like beef...

  • Pretty good guide! Nice vid

  • Sorry Buildabunnygirl, sturgeon are not endangered in the Columbia River. If they were they would not have a catch and keep season on them. Sturgeon from the Columbia will also move into other rivers such as the Fraser River. Thanks for be conservation minded, it is a great attitude to have.

  • @jbeath sorry but i think that most of the west coast sturgeon originate from the Fraser river as they do not breed well on a damed river like the Columbia..keeping slow growing fish will eventually wipe them out , but great fillet job

  • there endangered now!!!!! catch and release in the fraser river....

  • how could you??? there endangered!!!! X__X :(

  • aren't these things endangered now lol

  • I'm all for filleting fish but I usually try to kill it first. I know the fish can't feel it but it makes me feel better. Lol

  • Why cut a slit above the belly ?? Why not just cut the Gills or cut the underside of the head from gill to gill? I have never had a Bloody Mess when we cut the gills and bleed it out.

  • Why do you skin him alive?

  • @Jilf why does it matter?

  • WHATS UP KEMP

  • sturgeon take forever to die. Sometimes a couple hours after you have cut their gills and let them bleed out. I have filleted a sturgeon before and it was still flopping around when i threw it in the garbage. It would have suffocated to death if he didnt chop it up. Learn your fish before you start crying about it.

  • The fish was bled out, he simply didnt wait

  • @samuraininja your an idoiot

  • We're not permitted to retain sturgeon in BC. The meat on this fish looks fantastic. I'm curious as to what it's texture and flavour is like?

  • Mang that's highspeed
