  • thats never a fair comparison , that was the cool thing about this period , these people were just doin what they do , this type music puts everone on a level field ,nobodys better than anyone ,now come on be nice everyone has there own thing , at that time eric if you ask me was JUST finding himself

, hangin with these yanks put him in a place of neutreality though brought out something

great in him at the same time, he reminds me of doc watson or even johnny cash 461 ocean - slowhand was

  • The absolute best part for me is seeing Bonnie Bramlett singing -- she is the best and makes this song go over the top -- Clapton is just okay compared to her.

  • Wow--love seeing this! I have always felt this band (Delaney & Bonnie) NEVER got the recognition they deserved. What a shame that the music nowadays is so lame. And what a band! Rita Coolidge looks and sounds great. And Eric is just learning how to SING the blues, not just play them. Awesome! Got any more of this stuff?

  • Jimmy Price & Bobby Keys on horns - doesn't get any better!

  • Thanks for posting this rarely seen footage. Wow! Takes you back to a time of great musicians and classic rock-n-roll. What a line up - precursor to Mad Dogs & Englishmen... It's been often said Delaney mentored Eric to bolster his confidence and sing. We will always thank him for that. As for Bonnie, well there's very few that can sing in the same league as her.

  • Always nice to go back 'n recharge listening to this great music! Delaney & Bonnie have never received the proper recognition and thanks for their music and influence on music and many artists at that time. I believe that "Black Beauty" that Eric's using is the one from an exchange with Paul Kossoff and Eric used it quite often from that time '69 -'70. Eric is a major influence and i'm a guitar guy but, someone should say something about these horn players Bobby Keys & Jim Price, greats as well!

  • @toddwolfetube I agree, D&B were sorely passed over...and yet their influence is still heard today...however I disagree...Black Beauty...her name is actually "Blackie" ...Eric had her built by Fender to specs... and in '69 He was playing Gibson...he liked SG's but on this track it was a Les Paul...THX for commenting!!!

  • @EleSkelter Eric's using a 50's Black Beauty Les Paul Custom here. He did not own yet, his composite "Blackie" Fender Stratocaster that was a 50's neck w/ different 50's body he put together from several Strats purchased in '70. The Strat Eric had then was "Brownie" a 1956 maple neck sunburst Strat that i believe he purchased in '67 but only began to use in D & B days and then w/D & the Dominos & is the one pictured on his first solo album and Layla. Fender started making Strats for EC in 80's

  • @EleSkelter "BLACKIE" was a strat that eric built from several strats taking the best pieces fro each one.Its on the back of Layla and other assorted lovesongs

  • @fretman40 I Think We Alredy Knew This...except for the pieces and parts stuff...and "Blackie" is NOT played On "Layla"...Clapton first played Blackie on stage at the Rainbow Theatre, Finsbury Park, London on the 13 January 1973

  • @toddwolfetube something should be said about the greatest drummer ever !! Jimmy Gordon !!

  • Is that Clapton with a Gibson?? lol

  • @omers66 Actually he played Gibsons for a long time, remember the SG???

  • @EleSkelter

Actually I didn't know up until now that during clapton's best years (Cream, blind faith, domino's) he used Gibson's

  • @omers66 I dunno that it was his best years...He is kinda pretty good on a Strat...heh...I have a Strat called "Blackie"...go figger...

  • So much to be said about this line - up ...and this beautiful song (check out Fillmore West version on WV)...BUT WHAT the Hell was Bonnie thinkin!... with that fucking wig!!!!!!?????? Must 've been a heck of a bad hair day for one of my heroes. I guess I have to give her the benefit of the doubt.

  • clapton w/delaney & bonnie - i luv delaney & bonnie - they were such an influential force during their time - dont believe they ever received recognition they more than deserved as w/bekka. she's 1 of the best soul, wailing, blues vocals anywhere & u dont hear abt her. those in th know realize she's a top backup singer but she deserves th limelight

  • I love the slow version

  • Always good to see Clapton playing a Les Paul.

  • This music takes me way back. Thank you, I'd forgotten what I was missing~<3~

  • @1948england I've forgotten almost everything...except music...I named my Son Eric Daniel...after my 2 fav guitarists...Thank You and explore my channels...You might be surprised

  • you can't help smile ,when you listen to what is no doubt some of the best music that Bonnie and Delaney offered up!! Wish a new release was pending of something like" I don't know why". thanks for sharing a piece of the past...

  • Now this is what I call music! Reminds me of the 60's!

  • @cajunladyenterprise Ther might be a reason for that...it was 1969

  • bonnie and delaney was just a name i'd see digging through records when i was a kid.. took me yrs later to learn how good they were .. i see why eric clapton and george harrison took to them... the brittish rock of the day was getting louder and louder and not really saying much.. this country/blues/folk style of theirs was something special

  • @bluez1981 They were just..."SPECIAL"...God Rest Delaney

  • Thank you everybody for your kind words and support. Thanks for Loving our parents...

    Love,

    Michele Bramlett and Sissies

  • @michelebramlett

I was in my twenty'S in the seventies and it was a great time with unforgettable music. It is really great to be able to listen again THANKS TO YOUR PARENTS

  • @Daycron66 No argument here...Thank You!!!

  • <3 Michele Bramlett...I love this

  • @michelebramlett I don't think You're alone!!!...THX!!!

  • search for the video "Comin' Home" and it's the same concert, and Delaney introduces Eric AND George. :D

  • @skydog67 We've already pretty much established it...but You add more evidence...Thank You!!!

  • In George Harrison's book "I Me Mine", plate XXVIII, there is a still from this concert, and it is DEFINITELY George and Eric. It's either Stockholm or Copenhagen.

  • thanks ...just thought i would clear that up!! but yu r right ..there was lots of "speculation ..about that....

  • i played guitar on the "delaney and friends "''accept no substitute".....and i was told george was on that tour with them... gerry mcgee (akajerry mcgee}..

  • @gittar1 Well that settles it...You know better than the rest of us...THANK YOU!!!

  • @gittar1 Hey Gerry...thanks for commenting!!!

Hope all is well...LOVE to your sweetie xo. So happy for you...

    Love,

    Shel

  • george harrison....

  • @gittar1 Could Be...We'll never know for sure unless Eric sees this video and sets the record straight...I watch it over and over and jump between George and Dave...both showed up as "D & B Friends"

  • There was a 'club' we would sneak into ( we were in H.S.) in either E.St.Louis, see Delaney & Bonnie, Miles Davis, Ike Turner Review, Bob Kuban, Smith or was in Gas Light Square in St.Lous. WOW what great days. I'm not for sure if they played @ The Mississippi River Festival ( SIU-Edwardsville) the precursor to Woodstock. Great Band.

  • @12Daniel7 I believe the precursor to Woodstock was Monterey...The Mississippi River Festival consisted of Jackson Browne and local bluegrass stuff; 1969-1980

  • @EleSkelter My error I should have clarified my statement, that immediate summer of 1969, being the precursor. We ran June-Aug. In fact I saw the Moon Landing @ the MRF, in the office between runs. Bluegrass is cool, in his Autobiography Jerry Garcia stated his favorite band was Bill Monroe and His Bluegrass Boys. Also that was the trend 'back in the day' Joni,Buffy, the Band, Arlo,Judy Collins, Emily Lou Harris, C.S.N. & of course Dylan. communes & nature. what a long strange trip,it's been.

  • @12Daniel7 Agreed My Friend...the launch was on my birthday and the landing on my friend's birthday...and it's definitely been a LONG and STRANGE trip...and nothing against bluegrass...I paid $3K for a banjo custom made for me...I have others, as well as fiddles and mandolins, strumsticks etc...I'm a little bit country and I'm a little bit Rock 'n' Roll...but I'm not Mormon...heh

  • EleSkelter - That's George Harrison, no question IMHO.

  • @tomrwest Not sure...It Could Be George or Dave...I tend to lean towards Dave...Bur whatta I know???...heh

  • Cool video! Notice George Harrison on stage, staying outta the spotlight, and that's Rita Coolidge singing with Bonnie on the backups.

  • @mrbungalowwillie Check The Tags on Rita, as far as George there's some debate if it's him or Dave Mason...but THX for commenting!!!

  • fantastic buddy...b@w too!

  • @flipside1545 I'm a b@w kinda guy...heh
