Kate's latest CD is a jewel. Maturity is there. It is not sad, but sooo deep. She obviously listened to Keith Jarrett (Koln concert) and built, thanks to her voice, an impressive masterpiece.
She is underrated in the US (no wonder why...) but everyone asking me about what I am listening to becomes a fan right away. I have never been disappointed for 33 years since wuthering heights. Boys.. what a journey with her music!!!!

I love Kate Bush more than God, more than life...and I am male. I hope in the next life she is my mother. Her voice fills me with peace. I plan to listen to Aerial on my deathbed should fate prove kind enough to permit me that privilege. I was teenage when Kate appeared on our screens. We didn't have X-Factor back in those days... but She did. I can't identify - even to myself - what IT IS with her that so endears her to her fans ( I've been one all these years ).Perhaps this genuine love tends to make fans explosively defensive. In my opinion, she's produced some turkeys over the years BUT THAT VERY PREPAREDNESS TO TRY STUFF is part of what makes her SO great.
Kate has always been extremely brave that way in the face of pressure and gaining the true love of her real fans. Sheer hard work has gotten her to the level she is at now. I admire her and respect her wholeheartedly. She is incredible and the true achievement is in not being afraid to make mistakes and keep going to get the end result. Let's face it, any Turkey she has ever made still beats 'X-factor' hands down. :)
Not a bad tune, but why do KB's die hard fans carry such a hard core feminist chip on their shoulders that attack any man who expresses distaste in her music... even in friendly musical discussions. If you don't like Kate Bush, apparently you HATE women. Nothing personal but all I envision when I hear her voice, is her shrunk down in a music box (or snow globe) singing nothing but her absolute highest notes. What a beautiful track. Just heard she had a new album at the end of last year. I remember driving home for three hours listening to radio one - loads of pap - even the indie songs sounded the same. Wondered what had happened to originality. Nice to hear this.
This song is so immense... so many keys to so many worlds in just a tiny crystal of ice... so simple... so much space... you can get right inside it... it wraps you up and squeezes your spirit... absolutely amazing piece of music.
Kate: You are on my shelf of greatest artists. The world'd be a more miserable place if you weren't in it and creating beautiful music. "Life without music would be an error", indeed.
This track just like the entire album is wonderful! However every time I play it I cant get "The man with the child in his eyes"? out of my head. Then as the album progresses the same tune plays over and over again.....just dont know why, and wonder has anyone else had a similar experience? Is there a message deep within this incredible music?

@nemonoo That's why I set the whole video inside the imaginary world of the snow globe. This gave me complete control of all aspects to its environment and allowed me to give it an other worldly feeling. Take care.
Before I am verbally attacked, let me say I LOVE KATE BUSH but "Snowflake" is my least favourite track on "50WFS". The bass doldrums piano and the subtle but perfectly audible percussion (the drum bits after Bertie sings "wading through snowdrifts" and "my fabulous dances" do not conjure up an image of falling snow but the brief orchestral piece after "my fleeting song" is much more evocative of snowflakes). The repetition of "The world is so loud......etc" - NINE times- is just too much.
@ThePROTO1TYPE - Oh, I don't agree, no not at all! I think this track is so quintessentially Kate... in fact I particularly love the repeated mantra, ending always with "I'll find you"... I put this track on and my head fills instantly with that big white beautiful wide-awake stillness that only comes from a landscape covered (unexpectedly, overnight) by brightly sunlit snow... In particular I am enthralled with Bertie's voice.

But I suppose Kate would want her songs to have different sounds to different ears and evoke different mental images in different people's minds. That's part of her craft I guess. How am I going to get from kids sledding to a girl dancing in the snow. Then to to Edward Sissorhands then the snow queen and then to the Snowflake ballet. This is a very beautiful song. So haunting and sad too. This is what we expect from Kate Bush, layers and layers of meaning, music that perfectly matches the poetry of the lyrics. When Bertie sings the word 'sky', it's chilling. Nice video too, captures the essence of the song perfectly. It's nice to hear mother and son collaborating. Nice video too.

Not a bad tune, but why do KB's die hard fans carry such a hard core feminist chip on their shoulders that attack any man who expresses distaste in her music... even in friendly musical discussions. If you don't like Kate Bush, apparently you HATE women. Nothing personal but all I envision when I hear her voice, is her shrunk down in a music box (or snow globe) singing nothing but her absolute highest notes. And I'll never forgive her for mutilating Roy Harpers "Another Day" beyond recognition.

What a beautiful track. Just heard she had a new album at the end of last year. I remember driving home for three hours listening to radio one - loads of pap - even the indie songs sounded the same. Wondered what had happened to originality. Nice to hear this.

Before I am verbally attacked, let me say I LOVE KATE BUSH but "Snowflake" is my least favourite track on "50WFS". The bass doldrums piano and the subtle but perfectly audible percussion (the drum bits after Bertie sings "wading through snowdrifts" and "my fabulous dances" do not conjure up an image of falling snow but the brief orchestral piece after "my fleeting song" is much more evocative of snowflakes). The repetition of "The world is so loud......etc" - NINE times- is just too much.

@ThePROTO1TYPE - Oh, I don't agree, no not at all! I think this track is so quintessentially Kate... in fact I particularly love the repeated mantra, ending always with "I'll find you"... I put this track on and my head fills instantly with that big white beautiful wide-awake stillness that only comes from a landscape covered (unexpectedly, overnight) by brightly sunlit snow... In particular I am enthralled with Bertie's voice.

How am I going to get from kids sledding to a girl dancing in the snow. Then to to Edward Sissorhands then the snow queen and then to the Snowflake ballet. This is a very beautiful song. So haunting and sad too. This is what we expect from Kate Bush, layers and layers of meaning, music that perfectly matches the poetry of the lyrics.
