Are you playing the version from the Suzuki book? My son played this and qualified for state but they said the Suzuki version wasn't acceptable. The only other version our local music store could find on the internet was edited by Joseph Vieland and the excerpt shows it in bass cleft instead of Bratsche. Would you have any suggestions?
Thank you. I have this song pretty much down, with a few tweaks to do. my solo contest is in 12 days, so i'll used what i heard here to polish up the song. thanks again and lovly playing
thanks for posting this! it has really helped me with my solo, the largo especially because i really didn't know how to count it and the allegro, i really wasn't sure how fast to go. Thank A Lot!
I'm not sure about the metronome marking. You can figure it out yourself by matching your metronome to the video. I'm glad my video helped you. Thanks for watching.
I have used Dominants. They are very good. I usually use Spirocore (manufactured by Thomastic). It's a steel rope core. I find the response is a bit better and the sound is actually warmer than a synthetic core. Most cellists use steel rope core strings. A lot of violists are using them now. For the A string, I use a Jargar (red label/heavy guage).
I'm playing the transcription for viola as it appears in the Suzuki Viola method (book 5). I'm pretty sure that G major is not the original key. I've heard the piece played in F major on brass instruments.
Oh, I see. I'm a trombone player and we are playing that in F Major, I didn't know that viola have other transcriptions. But I really like your interpretation :) Good luck :)
Many times violists have to "steal" pieces from other instruments. Sometimes "stolen" pieces sound better in a different key. I think this piece works well in G for viola. Thanks for your comment. If you ever post your own video of this piece, let me know. I'd love to see it!
this sounds, something, like it would be good in a movie for draculas castel.something like that or maybe frankeinstein bride.

You're good, the second movement is so much fun when played instead at a presto speed, with a number of 280.
