LOL! hi from rachel- i go by my middle name- my parents actually named me alice, but i got so wicked tired of all the wonderland jokes that i changed it officially as a teen.... but hey, ask me anything you want to know! norm too, he'll always have an opinion for ya! i think you got something there, brother mark, people always seem to blame god for all sorts of foolhardy human behavior, dont they
While I never would have even remotely considered voting for McCain anyway {not even in a quatrillion years!:-)}, and while Obama has the usual DMC compromises (Exelon energy, for example), it is rather patently obvious that Obama is - of the 2 - the preferable one.
If only an independent, such as Nader or McKinney, or even Bob Barr were in reach of the presidency. As always, I wish for something analogous to a miracle that would put such a one there!
hi from rachel. norm thanks you again for your supportive presence. depending on where one lives, it might be worth it, say, if you're in a state obama will certainly carry, like ours, massachusetts, to weigh in with a vote for mckinney, or your alternative candidate of choice. those of us not truly represented by the major players, who suspect that their obligations are to the big corporate lobbyists most responsible for placing them as front runners, need to keep taking our stand, somehow.
Living in AL, it isn't likely to be a "swing" state! To be thoroughly honest, I am truly torn. While I know Obama isn't really what we need, I am also governed by the recent past, and the dreadful possibility of McCain continuing Bush's legacy.
Despite that, I have such dislike of the two major parties, I could easily vote for any of the three alternatives mentioned, including McKinney, if on our ballot. The most likely to be on the ballot would be Barr with Nader 2nd, & McKinney 3rd.
Yes - and Nadar's, McKinney's, and Barr's presence indicates that there are still intelligent people in the USA!
As usual, however, the two monolithic parties don't want anyone else around. Other parties are tolerated . . . barely, for the sake of appearances (for "democracy" and a "free system.") The "republicrats" are cunning enough never to be overt about it. Instead they put up many small barriers rather than blatant big ones, and wear down true freedom by endless attrition.
"bravo!" :D

There would be a much more interesting & issues-oriented debate, if McKinney, Nader & Barr were included.

the republican ticket is a one-way ticket to nowhere. if americans can't see below the surface of a war hero/beauty queen facade
then this day will go down in history as
americas stalingrad, not another pearl harbor.
there was no sneak attack that awoke a sleeping giant but a day in which lives were
sacrificed by a govt. addicted to & abusing of
their power, unable to withdraw, pullback or regroup fueled by a megalomaniac egotistical
culture that it brainwashed its people to follow.||\6

Hey Death -- "the republican ticket is a one-way ticket to nowhere."
I don't think anyone could put it more eloquently, more succinctly, and more absolutely. Thanks.
