  • could maybe use a little more glasnost and perestrooika these days

  • Political mind-game at its best, courtesy of Stalin. Yeah ... create an environment of constant uncertainty. As for a private citizen, you are basically screwed if the NKVD can trace your background to having connections to Imperial Russian government or connections to 'old-timer' party or army leaders whom are marked by Stalin to be purged. Not meeting production quota or workplace accident can also cost your neck! :D

  • who is the officer at 7:17 who looks like rodnet dangerfield?

  • @BigBishop1 That's Mikhail Tukhachevsky, who was executed during Stalin's purge of Red Army officers.

  • @woodbineRed He was a fine Officer and Soldier, the Russians would have bled less if he was around in 1941!

  • All kind Of evils follow if people reject God And His commandments.

  • @franciszek8D

Plenty of evil people who accept God and his commandments.

  • Read Simon Sebag Montefiore - "Stalin:Court of the Red Tsar" and his later book, a prequel, "Young Stalin." Very well researched and very well written. Recent and including post-Soviet era interviews and documents. Fascinating, chilling, horrifying that such a large nation could be ruled by such a small group of absolute thugs and psychos.

  • What suprises me isn't really Stalin & Co's evil, but why there wasn't more resistance to his brutality?

  • "Not only does Stalin legalize torture of state enemies, he recommends it." So does the internal U.S. and UK governments today.

  • @Monica1C3 exactly

  • @Monica1C3 yeah, the Bush/Blair "war on terror" wasn't a large step forward for the Geneva conventions. History is written by the victors etc

  • All was comitted by ethnic Russians! It was Stalin that advised

Order for severe sentences for war crimes in any form, specially

In Germany. It was Russian Solzhenitsin, an animal Russian,

Beating non-Russian soldiers, badly, under his command

With racial insults. Trying several times by court marshalls,

Russian officers gave him finally several years prison, but

Saved him from "smart desertion" execution. Being found

By Hrutchevians as deserter, they made him write lies!

  • it's illuminati. not soviet or communist. but illuminati!

  • Great Comrade Stalin!

  • Right, I have a better idea, Lets declare a competition for power and domination and wipe out anyone that enters it......LOL!!!!!......its called natural selection.

  • One of the more tragic mistakes was to get rid of a GRU General Yan Karlovich Berzin who was not only an important agent during the Spanish Revolution of the 1930s but also was in contact with Richard Sorge at the German Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. Stalin did use Yezhov but disposed of him just as quickly & airbrushed his image when he appeared with Stalin to make it as though the guy never existed. One other thing not mentioned here is the appointment of Lysenko, who had USSR's scientists purged.

  • Dear YouTube, Why the Big RED Letters on msg. "Error..." and "Pending "Approval" ??

  • If you want to have a translation, then have someone who speaks very good English translate, not someone who speaks English as if it is Russian, or at least put in subtitles.

  • There were numerous accounts of war crimes by Soviet armed forces—plunder, the murder of civilians, and rape. In both Soviet and current Russian history books on the "Great patriotic war" these war crimes are rarely mentioned.

  • @CrimesAgainstHumanit, Solzhenitsyn's autobiographical poem, "Prussian Nights", recounts many of the Red Army atrocities he witnessed as an officer, including the horrific sight of a child who had been raped to death. According to his account in "GULAG Archipelago", Red Army soldiers were actually encouraged to rape German women in places like Berlin and Danzig. Such were our "Allies".

  • @woodbineRed I don't think they were encouraged to rape based on conversations with veterans - more is that a blind eye was turned to it.

  • @CrimesAgainstHumanit Is your Russian so good that you are reading history in Russian? Или вы думаете, что это то, что написано в книгах в России?

  • The Red Army often gave support to the NKVD, which had as one of its functions the implementation of political repression. The main function of the NKVD was to protect the state security of the Soviet Union, which was accomplished by large scale political repression of "class enemies".

  • Will Shamir Shabaz be this country's Yeshov ?

  • Stalin claimed to have upheld Communism but he is an embarrasement to everything Carl Marx strived to create. Not that I support Communism or any type of socialism but they seem to have worked, In theory. But the truth is anything and everything is corruptible, when everyone is declared equal for a small time they work as a group, then those that lead them become mad with power and the system eventually collapses due to the nature of humanity. A republic is the only true sustainable system.

  • Indefinite detention, loss of citizenship and constitutional rights and legalisation of torture of citizens is just about to be put through congress in the United States of America.

They also have the FEMA camps to begin carrying this out.

US is following the same path as the soviet model by the so-called "elites".

    Many will unfortunately die.

  • Why didnt the Red Army rise up and take over. I can't believe they took this.

  • Why didnt the Red Army rise up and take over. I can't believe they took this.

  • Its good to see ones self on the old silver screen, but i resent being called a dwarf etc, the narrator of the film will be arrested and ragged off to the Lubyanka!

  • Most NKVD were jewish

  • We have to be careful not to generalize--Jews in the NKVD were about as Jewish as Stalin was Christian, when it came to practicing the precepts of religion.

  • @woodbineRed Thanks for the well written reply!

  • @woodbineRed it has nothing to do whatsoever with the practice of religion. "Talmudic Judaism is a religion of Jewish World Domination and slavery". Harold Wallace Rosenthal interview, by Charles Weisman, 1976.

  • Stalin was trained at Tiflis by the Jesuits of Rome and was carrying out their orders. Stalin, FDR, Churchill and Hitler were all brother Masons and were all working together serving the Jesuits - slaughtering Jews, Orthodox, Protestants (German Lutherans and British Calvinists), and liberal Catholics (Nationalists) pursuant to the Council of Trent. WWI & II was in fact the "Second Thirty years war" (waged from 1914-1945).

  • hahaha u r so stupid its not even funny millions and millions of catholics were killed , and you tell me they for jesuits , if they "did" what did the church gain from this

  • @Islandretreat - Damn, I SO wish what you typed there were true. Stalin, FDR, Churchill, and Hitler traditional Catholic Christian warriors? Awesome.

  • @TrueLoveNeverDies82 To the best of my knowledge, only the latter was Catholic.

  • @woodbineRed I very much doubt that this statement will be supported by any evidence whatsoever. Yagoda was Jewish - but who else. It strikes me that this is just one of these pathetic racists who thrown their vile hatred over the internet.

  • @garet300 Half of the Lenins Communist party high ranked members were jewish. Lenins wife was a jew and i dont even have to mention Karl Marx himself.

  • @KottLoom Marx came from a Jewish/Lutheran family; and we should keep in mind that though many Communist party members came from religious backgrounds, they themselves rejected religion and were by self-definition atheists--or perhaps more accurately, anti-theists.

  • @woodbineRed Wrong. They were COMMUNISTS. Communism was their religion. Don't even try and claim that what they did was in the name of atheism - because it wasn't. It was in the name of Communism. A blind man can see that they believed in stalin as a god. A religion is build around Stalin and the state.,

  • @woodbineRed That makes sense. I remember a Soviet era publication called Bezbozhnik (meaning "godless"). Two other things I recall is where the Roman Catholic Church asked a Russian Patriarch of it was all right for Roman Catholics to partake in the Holy Communion at the Russian Orthodox Church. This was in the early 1970s. This, and the writings of Reverend Wurmbrandt (along with St. Basil's Cathedral being converted into the museum of atheism) points towards an "anti-theist" direction.

  • @KottLoom

These were the 'mainstays' of the Bolshevik revolution as I understand it.

  • Down the cellar steps they go...

Communism is such a wonderful ideology. And to think, some people here in the US cry out w/ joy to install this type of system in power. Let move downward w/ progress comrades, down the cellar steps.

  • I bet a lot of the non or even moderate communists regret the revolution and wish they could go back to Tsarist Russia which had its problems but was heaven compared to how Russia ended up after.

  • And they complain that the Gestapo was evil, Yezov's NKVD made them look like saints.

Fortunately, nobody was immune from Stalin's suspicions and 'shorty' got his reward too. Yes, the road to HELL remains bumper to bumper since these good old times. There are still comrades who haven't got the call yet.

  • mind buggling, how come not one person in "brave" russia attempted to assassinate stalin the georgian butcher who genocided russian and soviet people. bolsheviks exterminated russian people. leftism/socialism/communism is a cancer on society. america watch this and go defend your constitution and bill of rights. the scum socialists and fabians are attempting to destroy our country.

  • 8 million people died in the civil war and many of the intelligentsia emigrated. after lenin died, in the next few years thousands would be killed trying to resist, while millions of russians would be sent to gulags or killed for the smallest thing, I won't even mention Ukranians, Armenians, even Japanese, Koreans, and so on.

please throw out your video game rational. why didn't someone successfully assassinate G.W.? Mao? Stalin was more paranoid than Hitler & Nixon combined.

  • "Bloody dwarf"? Man, show me a dwarf who isn't bloody and I'll show you a dwarf in somebody's dreams. Vicious, vicious people the dwarves are.

    GregERobertson:

I think Stalin referred to himself as Kobe, not Koba. Either that, or Eagle County, CO calls Kobe "Stalin". I'm not sure which.

  • Whenever I hear Communists or Leftists talk..they always excuse their failures by claiming that was all okay because their were "idealists" . Their hearts were in the right place etc. They have learned nothing ..about hearts, human nature or the nature of the Devil. Leftists are fools to the end.

  • Absolutely

  • "They have learned nothing about human nature or the nature of the Devil. Leftists are fools..." Atleast leftists don't believe characters from fairy tales literally exist...

  • @ehunter2 Hitler was right wing???? Its an ideology that is dangerous and totalitarian governments that one needs to be wary of.

  • @ehunter2 These are not the failures of Communism, they'rer the failures of humanity. That's like saying America's terror campaign is a failure of democracy. No. It's a failure of Bush/Carter/reagen etc.

  • @ehunter2

I agree. What Stalin did was horrific and I'm sure he never felt any remorse for his actions.

  • @ehunter2 So you think Stalin represents 'the left'. Way to generalize lol

  • I guess that calling Nikolai Yezhov by the nickname of 'shorty' would be completely out of question back then ...

  • No wonder the studies concerning the Asiatic Mode of Production were deemed as counter-revolutionary by Soviet scholars 'til recent times ...

  • is that small lad the head o scientology

  • i can't tell, but did that dwarf dude become a Leprachaun and start making movies?

  • no he runs Formula 1 now under the name 'Bernie Ecclestone'

  • ha ha

  • Fascinating

  • Long live the great, glorious-revolutionary, people's time of Yezhov!

  • When you think about it, 5 feet tall is not all that short--certainly not a "cruel trick" of nature. I don't know whether the documentary maker means that Yezhov was regarded as abnormally short by his colleagues or whether he had an obsession about his height.

  • actually what it is . .is that all that Stalin was was a mobster and all those mobsters liked to have nicknames. Stalin's name it self is a nickname meaning 'steel'. He also called himself 'Koba'

  • @woodbineRed 5 feet for a full grown man? That's pretty unusual, I know I can't think of anyone off the top of my head I've met who's not a small person, is male and that short. He'd barely reach my ribcage...

  • @ZarathustrasCrown

Our early century and one of the greatest U.S. Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, was 5 feet tall. My Welsh Grandfather, also a great man, also was 5 feet tall. "It ain't how big the the person, it's the courage inside." /~_\\

  • Bloody dwarf, lol.

  • Thanks for the alert, nkx1. Don't know what happened to the sound, but I'll fix it or upload again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Tremendous documentary
