  • @thecarpdude Nothing complicated. pre baited spots with corn fake corn as hookbait.

  • nice one mate gos to show rivers are awsome

  • I'm not a serious fisher any more but I did manage to catch a carp down the Stort past the moorhen. Also managed to catch a couple of decent chub. Caught the carp on cheese and chub on crayfish.

  • well done mate wanna see some more carp action!!!!!!

  • nice one fella.their putting on weight at last! is that big lumpy still in there? it used go upper 30's,if its still in there it must be 40 easy! well done, but keep it to ya self!

  • Haven't seen a lumpy one at upper 30's.

I remember seeing a HUGE common when I was a younger but I've not seen anything above 30 since then.

  • how do you catch river carp pls tell me

  • if you want big carp from the stort then go for a walk down sawbridgeworth, where the back water from the private old mill comes out onto the main river is good.

also the back water behind pig lane lake in bishops stortford is a awesome carping ground.

walk from sawbo to-wards stortford, there are a lot of carp in-between these two towns.

  • Nice fish, thinking of starting a bit of a campaign down there over the winter as getting a bit bored of lake carp now!

Have you had much success in the winter?

    Cheers

  • :D lol

  • hi thats my bro hi its me i dont want to say my name but hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all my mates keep talking of u at school hahaha

  • Excellent fishing

  • was the carp caught on the harlow stretch of the river?

  • Yes

  • Nice one mate, good job, can`t beat river carping in my opinion.

  • The fake corn floats.. Normaly I would pop it up about 1 inch off the bottom but you can experiment and see what works on your particular water

  • so like just put 1 split shot on the line like a few inches from the hook? how will the corn float off the bottom?they both sink to the ground

  • The fake corn floats.. Normaly I would pop it up about 1 inch off the bottom but you can experiment and see what works on your particular water

  • you used corn right?. how many corn do you put on the hook and where did u get the corn? uncooked corn on the cob or in a can?

  • I use canned corn and I put it on a hair rig with fake corn aswell (Enterprize tackle)

2 pieces of fake corn and 1 real piece of corn sandwiched between the fake ones... make sure you put a small weight on your rig because the corn will pop-up.. This can work to your advatage by fishing a bed of bait with 3 pieces of corn floating 1 inch off the bottom.

  • Suprised theres fish in there after last season, sewage overflow killed 10,000 fish from the stort. ruined my season.

  • What section?

  • The Sewage pipe at the first weir coming from bishops stortford town. Next to Southmill lock 1.

  • I didn't see any fish death on the harlow stretch... Thats very disappointing that the fish died I know that section was fished by many bishop stortford angling club members. It had some good bream and tench if I remember rightly.. What a shame :(

  • Yep, not sure if it affected as far as harlow, it reached some parts of the sawbo stretch. This season there are stil some nice carp at the weir and many pike. but today im gone to fish the pitt just behind it. :)

  • lovely job, thanks for the advice :) shall have a bash, what baits seem to produce the goods? i've had chub to 4Ib 8oz just below pig lane on floating crust, a few years back though!

do you get to the eastwick lodge backstream from the 50mph zone?, think theres a lane that goes down to it? can ya park there?

    cheers

  • Firstly you can park in the little lane on the eastwick backstream and secondly the bait to use is by far cheese paste... Soak some bread in water it up and mash it together with some cheese and add some evaperated milk... Jobs done :D it catchs non-stop... look at chub fishing the stort in my other videos

  • nice one, might try the eastwick backstream tomorrow afternoon/evening :)

been taking Chub from Twyford lock on crust to 3Ib 12oz lately, i so want a bigger one now!

  • yo mate

i've fished the river stort for ages and i've only ever had two from the river 8 and 11Ib both off the top on crust, thats a nice fish you caught there and there are some whoppers scattered about below twyford lock, seems to be alot more about this season, all the Chub that i use to fish for seem to have buggered off!

  • Get in the backstreams mate.... Go to Harlow mill and fish at the back of the factorys... I've had 2 chub of 6.8lb and a fair share of 5lbers... It's the best chub fishing I've ever done... alternativly you can catch good chub from eastwick lodge backstream just off the a414.... hopes this help ya mate :D

  • Nice fish mate, well done! never heard of the stort before! My mate has been getting 20s from the river cherwell and I lost a couple with snag/bent hook! Keep it up.

  • It's not a well know river for carp but there are some monsters hovering on the 30lb mark! :O

  • Had to get the word emence in as many time as possable :D
