Dude. Gil Shaham is a freak. I was a fan since his awesome (not) music video for winter. But it still shocks the hell out of me when I watch him play.
i think his reaction isnt meant to the grace note. He looks surprised before. The orchestra entrance wasnt very got together in the group and also not that good in tune.
Heh it is supposed to be F to F sharp but it sounds like some people close to the mic might have played an E to F sharp. In any case, the half step was not tight enough and they weren't even together.
he is an amazing artist, i seen him on channel 13 not too long ago. the orchestra is AMAZING!! i myself will be playing in carnegie hall on June 7th 2009, with the metropolitan youth orchestra. and dont get youth confused with young because i may be in high school but most of the players are in college first senester and are amazing musicans. =D look at my page for more details. =D
does it seem like i am braging? i was just saying this because i worked SOOOOOOOOO hard to get there, and i am proud of how far i made it, im sorry if this offended anyone
Is that not Michael Tilson Thomas? He's the conductor of the San Francisco Symphony.

One of my favorite pieces played in this concert. And Hunt the Squirrel. Maybe that's only because I favor violins, but Gil Shaham is great.

not an intonation problem its a grace note. they weren't together.

I'm not impressed. The Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar sounds better. But Gil sounds great!

I don't think that was an intonation problem, was it? Isn't that how the melody is? With the grace note. F to F sharp.

Yeah but he nailed it and the orchestra only so-so. You can hear the difference and I think he smirked because of it.

jeje yeap.. in fact he smiled xp

It's not intonation. It's just that the section didn't play the grace notes together. (F to F sharp). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Gil Shaham plays with a rich tone but i must admit that Anna-Sophie Mutter has better expression and she is more virtuosic
