  • me like.

  • Definite Sabbath influence here. Or did they come first? I am just getting into these guys. Not sure how I missed these guys for so long.

  • @loggerbomb , lolz it does sound a bit sabbath doesn't it?

  • Bloody Best Rogue ever .. Errol Flynn must be a distant relative to Adam . .

  • Love this <3

  • LOVE IT!!!!!

  • he opened with this song at cambridge 17/5 , awesome

  • @Jimmy how do you know he didn't put up a fight?? I'd say he did but back in the 80s the big wigs called all the shots sadly n screwed up alot of talented stars along the way. Rock on Adam you take charge now looking fab darling x x a fan forever x x :)

  • thanks for this vid so much , brought back a few mems ,the 1st time i saw the ants only 7 people at the gig and 1 of them was a old m8 JS [sems] i saw them play plenty late 77- early 79 affter the change in line up they just did not do it for me ,clean you face with mr S

  • Fucking nostalgia!

  • Why did he have to deviate from this style of music?

  • @JimmyDFFDBorneo to make $

  • @deepknotch When the record companies told him to 'stand and deliver', he didn't even put up a fight.

  • I grew up listening to this.....no wonder I got a disturbed taste in music as a adult :)

  • i remember seeing the ants at nuneaton, ended up with a fight outside!!

  • didnt he marry jordan when he was realy joung she had an afair with an origional ants drummer i beleive he left because of this and later joined bow wow wow

  • @rumplestilskint67

    Get a grip mate.

  • @barnowl01292 well you may not agree with me and theres people out there with even less grip than me,but ill always have a soft spot for the guy

  • @rumplestilskint67 @I8P61 Is that true? Blimey - didn't know that. In fairness, he did alright - moved up in the world to Amanda Donohoe and Heather Graham. Who would you rather get hold of? ;-) Was the drummer Dave Barabarossa?

  • @clampie71 actually i have to correct myself on this one he was with jordan but i not sure of his wifes name the bit about the affair with the member of the band is right though it was kevin moony

  • there is a god hes name is adam ant

  • Comment removed

  • Nice pic of Siouxie at 4:46. The pre-McLaren ants, the biz. When it all sounded and felt so new and fresh and exciting. Great days.

  • Who is The girl, is that "Jordan"? I don't know anything about this. Was she in the First Ants line up? Somebody help me. Im a music nerd and I have a Lust for information

  • adam was riding her at the time.she was never an actual ant.never in de band.she was an ace face at the time, that's all.

  • @HACHETOOTH search women in punk and go to jordan

  • @HACHETOOTH that girl is indeed Jordan and although Jordan was not an official member of the Ants, she had performed with Adam & The Ants a few times. Jordan was pretty much responsible in having Malcom McLaren meet with Adam -McLaren for a short time managed Adam. Jordan also introduced Adam to Marco Pirroni. They are still very close friends to this day.

  • 0:27 is the best pic ever! and 0:48!!!!! thanks for uploading this!

  • the karlock... 24 years old... what you on about dude... you where not even on earth in that time... can't believe you saying that lol.

there was more then the sex pistols you know....

ohw... but maybe you are a fan of the commercial punk...

  • If anything, they were underrated. Punk killed itself by becoming a parody of itself. Even John Lydon was quoted years after as saying, "the concept of true anarchy would have been a mistake. For a society to function properly, there has to be order."

Jello Biafra said pretty much something along those lines earlier.

Music changes, sometimes for the worse. Adam and the Ants were creative, artistic, and original. And they happen to be one of John Lydon's favorite bands of that period.

  • @troubleontheline66 Why would you expect a property developers attitude to be any different? Turns out Talcum Malcolm McLaren was more of an anarchist than Johnny Rotten ever was! I have to say it doesn't much sound like something Jello might say but I'll take your word for it. I guess when Killing Joke allow their songs to be used for Playstation games, anything is possible!

  • @troubleontheline66 What would you expect from a property developer? Lydon has become a self parody of himself. All you need to know of his anarchist credentials, is that he had squatters evicted from, I think it was his Ladbroke Grove property, around 25 years ago! Ironic that his resemblance to his nemesis Talcum Malcolm goes beyond the mere physical. Have a read of Jah Wobbles "I was a geezer". No wonder Keith Levene made off with the Commercial Zone master tapes.

  • I bought a Vive le Rock t-shirt off Jordan in Seditionaries..she didn't seem very friendly!

Adam was the ultimate punk, then the ultimate sell out. Shame. Thoseearly Antz gigs were something else!

  • Love Adam best when he was younger and 'rougher'.

Does anybody know the timeline on Bazooka Joe and the Banshees?

  • Johnny Rotten is the first person that comes to mind when I think punk. However Adam Ant has always had a better voice. I really wonder what his music would of sounded like had he continued being mainstream punk, and not ventured to the more rockabilly stuff.

  • i thought he went new romantic, which lead to the new wave movement.

  • I do stand corrected. While some of his stuff I consider rockabilly, he did go new romantic. Thanks for pointing that out. It's been far too long for me to remember that stuff lol.

  • @jbgandhi2 If you mean that New Romanticism led to New Wave, as far as I see it, New Romanticism was more of a subcultural event with strong ties to early British New Wave. New Wave in and of itself could be regarded as a type of Post Punk that turned into something largely removed from its origins.

  • @jbgandhi2 New wave was before new romantic

  • just as a little point the sex pistols had basically there first gig as the cover for adam ants first band bazooka joe

  • if any one knos punk its adam ant and the sex pistols they where the people that made punk awsome bak in the days and it still is

  • So solid

  • He sounds so much like Johnny Rotten in Plastic Surgery. This is his real punk era.

  • These early pictures are great.

  • something about this band is extremely tribal.

  • whos jordan surposed 2 be

  • WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VERSION OF BEAT ME! YEAH BIIIIAATCH!! Scuse me!!

  • Anyone know where to find A.N.T.S?

  • it was given away on the cover of a mag about 30 years ago. You had to put a coin on it to add weight so the needle wouldnt drag it round your deck. happy days , makes me feel old

  • I think it was a FlexiPop single, and I still have a few of those laying around. I think I still have one from Thin Lizzy and the Polecats. But sadly, I can't find my A.N.T.S single anywhere.

  • Jordan was fucking fantastic! The world's most famous shop assistant.

  • Pam (Jordan) Hook was the Ants first manager.

A good beating's really where it's at. I think not!

  • She rises cats and is a veterinary

  • That surprises me, good though. I love cats.

  • the big blonds name is jordan, supposedly she worked at malcom mclarens sex garment shop.

  • She did I saw her in there. Saw Adam in there too.

  • Was always sorry I missed Adam Ant's old-school punk days, although I was playing myself back then. I became aware of him later on, the pirate coat days, and have been a fan ever since. So these early images are a treat for an old school punk like me. I can't tell who the spike-haired lady (?) is in the images.

  • very very reminivant of early Gary Numan tunes...put your mind into a tube, watch it grow before your eyes, don't you know my love is a liquid!!! Dig me fellow pop pickers??? Tubeway Army...Brilliant!!

  • very true della, but his old stuff will always survive in my mind, maybe i was a bit harsh in my comments, i'll remove that comment cheers x

  • Comment removed

  • the old 70s B&w's are brill. But you could argue that if it wasn't for his popularised image, the old stuff wouldn't have survived. I got into stand & del, then found the punk stuff later. He was a hero to a bored generation, not an a**hole. And bi polar doesn't 'strike you down'...it's not malaria....! Cheers for posting x

  • whos that girl

  • like the sex pistals is the sing of this still aliive i mean adam and the ants is he alive still

  • still got the badges and the bootlegs, rochester castle, hampstead

  • Sounds like a poor recording of the Jubilee version to me... But I also loved the Ants of that era, true fucking punk and everything that meant :)

  • "You got a face like a labrador" is the greatest opening line to a song ever written!!!

    Quite brilliant.

  • he's like.. bipolar now and got arrested in 2003 for indecent exposure or some crazy shit! i love him still thought <3

  • that's just a plea. everyones crazy after they get arrested.

  • A plea? Ummm, no. He's bi-polar he just didn't know it back then. He's looking well and happy now, and was great at the Bloomsbury in 2007. I don't think his story is over yet.

  • neve said it was.

  • Pleased to hear he is well.

  • Oh my god! I used to dream about A.A. Thanks for sharing!!! Whatever happened to him?

  • Where can I find this version of Plastic Surgery? The solo sounds different.

  • Real early Ants, also the vid of early Banshees: yet more fantastic photos;when you can, PLEASE, The Slits. And thanx again.

  • More memories..the Ants when they were real. I saw them forty-? times. Thanks for these vids, they are pure class and bring a vivid reminder being down the front at the Marquee ( Wardour St.) or the Vortex, not far away. For all the old crew who made it perfect. 5*s and thanx again. X.

  • wow this is great.

  • Jeez, I must've played 'plastic surgery' until the stylus wore through so far it started playing the 'b' side backwards! The ants as they were, and as they were meant to be. Amazing, thanks for putting this up.

  • Friend Dave Nurse had the Decca demo on vinyl..Ants were the first band we followed. Weren't we all fucked off when Kings of the wild Frontier came out!

Beat my Guest still a goodie.

  • Fucked off ? a slight understatement ! life was over when Wild frontier came out ...... dreadful shit, well we lived and moved on and followed Andy Warren to the Monochrome set, which was a pretty perfect end to the post punk scene really .....

  • ah thanks for putting this up. The Ants up to about Kings were great. saw them at the Triad, Bishops Stortford 79. Jordan was bbilliant as well.

  • love you! <3

  • Muy interesante secuencia de fotos! Adam se ve jovencisimo, se parecia un poco a Sid Vicious.

  • oooooooooooooooooh! THANK YOU!! XXXXX

  • Oooohhhh, I'm in heaven now....Thanks for posting this!! Nothing is better than early Ants!!

  • The 77 Club in Nuneaton was a good venue used to try and get a lift from Coventry when I could, I remember seeing Ants, Discharge, Slaughter and the Dogs, Specials (When Penetration didn't turn up), and maybe some others thanks for the memories Sid - Gary

  • The 77 Club as it was is Still putting on GIGS, Its Under a New Name now, but its still the Queens Hall, The Crux from Nuneaton played there with Criminal Class and many others, I know what your Saying with Penetration, that was the same when the Varukers were to play Nuneaton Bistro Club, I never new Specials played NUNEATON. The Oppressed played at the Nagshead (what a riot) Glad you like it GARY (Cheers for the Comment)

  • We Are Probably the first generation to have our history rewindable. Watching this video and remembering seeing them at Nuneaton about a year before the twin drummers. I always remember the two rockabilly roadies who took over the disco floor pre-concert and the London matie who threatened to stab my mate who started to critise Adam. Great thanks for posting

  • Nuneaton had loads of good bands play in the 80s, I was told Wayne County was Supposed have played at the end of Edward Street in the Church and Generation X played at the Holly Bush Pub and only 7 People turned up.. I've seen Cockney Reject, GBH, UK Subs in Nuneaton and I know The Exploited and Discharge played here, I'm also told that a very U2 played here to...Sid Nuneaton

  • @cooleasydeal

Just seen your comment about " the rewindable generation" true genius of a phrase, truth in a sentence and a sentiment, admiration, respect and envy all heading your way, you are..........

  • Damn! I thought I was a harcore Ant fan. Most of these photos I've never seen. Thanks!!!!!

  • Wow, what a lovely collection of photos. :)

  • Anyone got any idea where Jordan is now? I heard she was living in quiet seclusion in a small town near Brighton (Peacehaven - home of Peter and the Test Tube Babies!), breeding cats! I havent seen her in many a long year!

  • Last I heard she was a veterinary nurse and cat breeder.

  • Yh thas wat i heard too

  • Just stopping back by to admire your video once again. Classic!

  • whos that girl in all of the pictures

  • The original jordon, great post, great times.

  • Thanks - amazing vid. Haven't seen a lot of the Jordan pics before

  • This is great, thanks for posting

  • F-ant-astic pics (sorry!). It was ace reading in his autobiography about the early years of the Ants. I got into them during Antmusic, but I was only 9!! Chrz for posting.

  • Those are AMAZING pictures of Jordan! Where'd you find them?

  • And jordan?, Where is she now?

  • Apparently she's a vet nurse near the coast in England. Interesting personage - would love to meet her - I bet she has some stories to tell! At least there were some half attractive shots here. I always thought she was an ugly little fattie and couldn't believe the gorgeous Adam actually had sex with her!

  • haha Adam never had sex with her, they were just like best friends. She was one of the few ladies he didn't dip into.

oddly enough Kevin Mooney married Jordan.

Adam was seeing Carol Mills who would later end up beciming his wife

  • I'm sure he must have had sex with her . . . he was besotted with her! He used to send her little love notes and watch her when she was working at SEX.

  • according to Jordan and her ex husband and Adam as well they never had sex. Adam was seeing Carol Ann Mills when he was with Jordan and Jordan liked Kevin.

Adam was enthralled by Jordan and her style but he wasn't attracted to her, they were best of friends. He did a tell tale in his book of his lovers (from his diary) and she was never one of them.

    I agree she isn't attractive.

  • I love your info. Thanks. I haven't read his book yet. Even though I don't think she's attractive her 'out there' attitude is so appealing and because of that so is she. Thanks again.

  • also: they were really close when they were in the band together. She sang on "Lou" she did one night (as he said) carve the word FUCK in his back so that it made him keep his shirt on for a show.

that was a bit bizarre. but so was Jordan.

where did you get your info about the love notes? I am totally interested.

  • The love notes were mentioned in Jon Savage's book called England's Dreaming. Great read.

  • I thought she carved 'fuck' to keep him faithful - as if that was ever gonna happen! If it wasn't in England's Dreaming it may have been on the Punk77 website. I'm pretty sure it was in the book.

  • Oh, Jordan also mentions that she still has the notes somewhere!

  • well if they did have sex, Kevin Mooney is in denial lol.

  • You made me laugh! I'll check out the book tomorrow to see if I can find where she said and let you know the page no. if you like. cx

  • I would love that and I will post the link to Kevin's interview :-D

  • I found this on the Punk77 site but I know there's more somewhere. "Adam used to send me love letters in the early days. I've still got them somewhere. He invited me down to a gig....everything went wrong, but in Adam I saw something very special. Anyway I got involved in the band - I nurtured and pushed them. I was a manager and yet more than a manager. I finished with Adam for a while when he insisted on signing to Decca. I thought it was a wrong move and I was proved right."

  • No..what Bodacious said. I read his autobiography and Jordan and Adam were close friends and confidants, that's it.

Whoever posted this...THANK YOU! I love vintage Adam Ant.

  • check out my paintball video using beat my guest...big ant fan...cheers

  • OH YES, then this is the dark adam ant?.....he's very nice......

  • Yeah, that was a nice double feature there. Check out my page, I got a couple ANT vids too. It's high time we started this revolution...

  • Some fantastic pictures in this posting. Where on earth did you dig some of them up? Great, really well done. Thanks for this one. Made my afternoon.

  • Some great pics I've not seen before, and the music, well what can I say! Thanks for posting!
