    Suddenly before my eyes

    hues of indigo arise

with them how my spirit sighs - paint the sky with stars.

    Only night will ever know

    why the heavens never show

  • My husband belonged to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, they have the spelling wrong in the title. But this is still a beautiful song and prayer. My husbands father was fluent in the Ojibwe language.

  • Very, very beautiful. Thanks for massaging my heart. Cos & Mos

  • I wanna know if the words in the video are the translation of this pray.

  • @sadoxra Yes they are, but the song is sing in Gaelic But the written words are Oijbway.

  • This is the call~~you must only open your heart to feel it resonate!

  • written by; Wilwilaaysk

  • Love the beat & rythm of this piece of music and lovely sound of their voices.. Thank you for sharing with us.

  • lmfao... thats enya and not a native american song!!!! the woman singinging is a white lady, from ireland!!!! wtf

  • I never knew what the words meant in this song as I listened to it many times as a fan of Enya, thanks, now i know!

  • This was wonderful, what I needed! Thank you, Mitakuye Oyasin!

  • Walea sings this and calls it "The Cherokee Morning Song". This often happens. I have heard the Ute Morning Greeting called "The Bear Song", too.

  • Not too long ago the Scots/Scotland have returned an ancient pipe stone that had been gifted from the Salish nation to the much earlier Scottish settlers/traders that had settled in the Northwestern section of Montana.Due to the many similarities experienced by both peoples(Celts/Native Americans)such as ancient view points on how nature is to be revered and deity is perceived has helped the two peoples set aside differences and come together.

  • Many Words Of Wisdom. Peace

  • Look, I'm Ojibway, and this is about as Ojibway as a renaissance faire. Enya and Stonehenge have nothing to do with Ojiwbays--they're standard "new-age" staples. The words at the beginning are NOT Ojibway, they're from a trendy made-up prayer that's been around for years that non-Indians like to attribute to all sorts of tribes (like Cherokee, Sioux, etc.), but totally made-up. The "language" at end sure ain't Ojibway either. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble. Being honest isn't negative.

  • @mattokc Well, for one, the video maker says that the song is in Gaelige, not Ojibwa - too few people speak the language, and almost no one makes Ojibwa songs. Yes, the prayer isn't exactly Ojibwa, but it is known as the traditional Native American prayer - as far as I know, it as nothing to do with being made up by non-Natives.

Now, the Celts and Natives have far more in common than you would think, and it's not limited to the New Age movement.

  • @mattokc The Celtic Old Religion is a type of Shamanism, as is Wicca (a modern re-creation of Witchcraft), and is therefore quite similar to the religions of the Native Americans. Both Celts and Natives loved Nature, and worshiped similar gods and goddesses. The Four Grandfathers are known to the Celts as the Four Directions, representing not only the cardinal points (North, East, etc) but also the elements and the times of day: dawn (East), noon (South), dusk (West), and midnight (North).

  • @mattokc The concept of Mother Earth and Father Sky/Sun are also known amongst the Celts in their principle Deities. Perhaps to most striking similarities between both cultures are shown in their belief in the Little People, known as the Tuatha De Danann (Ireland), the Good Neighbors (Cornwall), Daoine Sidhe (Ireland and Scotland), Brownies (Wales), and many more.

  • @celticbattleaxe I am of Scottish ancestry on my Mother's side (Stewart Clan) and I have a sister(foster but stil sister) who is aboriginal Our family is very diverse and I love it.

  • @CatSwanson Wow - that's quite a mix! I'm Scottish on my mom's side (Gordon Highlanders) with Irish, Welsh, Cherokee and Wamopanoag.

Gov. Bradford is one of my direct ancestors, and he was one of the first Europeans to make peace (or try) with the Natives.

  • beautiful song!! ty

  • i was born in ThunderBay Ont. and have ojibwa blood. I live in NC. when i listen to this it pulls on my heart, i want to go home! Lyle Gagnon.

  • These words bring a great peace to me. As they say what I feel. I try to live my life without harm to others, and my surroundings. I hope some day to find the answers to my roots. I am to the understanding that my Great Grandmother was Chippewa, and the name Marie has been passed to me and my other female relatives on that side, telling me the direction I should look. I will continue my search. Thank you greatly.

  • @tineetude You and me both, Sister.

    Blessed be times Three )O(

  • i think if we go back way beyond the Celts (the fighting Irish) and learn of the people before them, the ancient Irish you find a very gentle, spiritual, nature protecting people just like the Native Americans. it is amazing just how many Irish people feel a connection to Native American ways. One of my most precious possessions is a beautiful handmade prayer fan. Guess we are all connected, way back. :)

  • RELIGION IS CONTROLLED BY LUCIFER!!!!

  • The picture at the beginning comes from Doreen Virtue's ~Healing with the Angels~ Oracle card deck. It is called Supported..

  • I believe the language is Irish, one of the oldest languages in the world so would have a very close connection to Native American.

  • @NanaRoisin

ive heard rumor that the spanish werent the first over to the americas but also there might have been some irish because of how some of the natives built and shaped things so that very well may back it all up

  • Which tribal language is this? I'm learning cherokee so I know it's not that. But It's beautiful.

Bless those that curse you, Love those that hate you. Do not become your enimy.

    do-hi-ya (be well)

  • I love this video.Thaks for sharing.

  • where did you get that picture from in the begining? its awesome

  • My famiy is native american. As a child I was told I was Cherokee, as an adult I found out my people are of the Creek reservation. Either way, my heart is right with my people, I am proud to be of native blood. I wish many blessings to everyone. with love and truth be happiness ......

  • ...absloutely peaceful...amen....xo

  • beautiful

  • I'm a typical christian and I can't wait to see everyone that doesn't believe exactly like me get thrown into a lake of fire for being born at the wrong time or place. I just can't get over how lucky I was to be born in the one country that had the only correct religion. Isn't jesus just peachy for creating a lake of sulphurous lava for 98% of the earth's people!

  • @morgan4xl sweety the only ones that get thrown into that lake you speak of are narrow minded people (the ones that think that just their race will survive) so I ask OUR Creator to PLEASE Bless and have mercy on your soul. When you meet Jesus You are going to have to explain your narrow-minded-ness to him. because he only tought LOVE. so again may god bless you.

  • @morgan4xl LOL, I bet you were pretty upset when the rapture did not happen last month huh? :-)

  • @butterflygris The rapture did happen, it started with our pets. I heard a ruckus and ran around my barn just in time to see my cat be raptured by an beautiful angel. The angel was in the form of a large brown bird with a white head and hooked beak. On it's way to heaven, it stopped in a big pile of sticks in the top of a big tree with our sweet fluffy. Praise Jesus! Oddly fluffy seemed reluctant to go. A veterarian also confirmed it was the rapture, but he spelled it 'raptor'. Thank you Jesus!

  • @morgan4xl You are just so Hilarious! I needed that! LOL

  • @morgan4xl You think its gonna be funny when the rapture happens. That day is not too far off.We native Americans already know about this without anyone telling us.You mean left behind as in forever in eternity...

  • @morgan4xl im native and christian but ive never heard that part of christianity buddy. get your facts straight, k! :)

  • @asleep2day Your a christian and you've never heard about the raptor? You sound like a lukewarn christian. If that's the case, jesus will grind your face in red hot scalding coals and watch your hair blaze as your flesh melts off your face on judgement day. You won;t be laughing when demons use your testicles for ping pong balls as you are being sodomised by giant purple demons on the bone riddled beach of the lake of fire. Did I mention that jesus loves you?

  • @morgan4xl you sound REAL christian. and Jesus loves you too! :)

  • This song sounds so beautiful, The prayer that also came with the video is very true and heartfelt. Bless all the beautiful people of Mother Earth.

  • My skin may be white. My spirit is wild and free as the wind.

  • Makes me cry it's so beautiful... <3

  • you surely found the most beautiful pictures for this. Very healing words.

  • Excellent.

  • Gorgeous!! =)

  • we must not forget our heritage, our beleifs and our ancestors running wolf choctaw

  • Peace and love. Need a miracle now see willann54 Miracle Prayer.

    Thank you

  • tyvm 4 this

  • I have a problem here!

Is this Gaelic or Native American ? Also...

Who is the ... Shanti... mentioned at the end ?

Hopefully not the Oliver Shanti of 'WATER.. 4 circles of Life " that INTERPOL are searching for, due to alleged paedofile acts ??

  • @milradian1 Ah, this is in Irish Gaelic. Shanti? Have no idea.

  • only after the last tree has been severed

only after the last river has been tainted

only after the last fish has been caught only than will u realize money cannot be eaten

  • I come from a native american group called Black Foot

  • Fuck yer, now this. this is music. This is from the soul, this has meaning, this is powerful. This rules!!!!!

  • But this is a Celtic song :/

  • Ojibwe-Chippewa

  • @warisbs thank you for your patience. i for one wants to know as much as i can about the natives and their clear understanding of all things spiritual. blessings and respect to all my brothers and sisters, i am humbled in world.

  • @nellspop1 sorry, i am humbled in your world. peace

  • This song is dedicated to my grandfather and grandfather of the ojibwa nation....R.I.P

  • Proud to be Chippewa :D

  • I'm not sure why but this song brings tears to my eyes.Thank you for the upload.Blessings to father spirit and mother earth.Blessings to all my brothers and sisters.

  • The first prayer was Chief Yellow Lark...It said "author unknown" (first 54 seconds of the song) :-))

  • Excellent.

  • Very touching video :)

I am part Wampanoag, but mostly Scottish, Irish, and Welsh. Blessed be to all Natives )0(

    Air to guide you

    Fire to strengthen you

    Water to cleanse you

    Earth to sustain you

And may the Great Spirit guide you, always :)

  • good video it has a really deep meaning that prayer but you shouldn't write Amen in the last bit because Christianity is a lie and the real meaning of Amen is a devil god from Egypt or also the god of the sun Amen Rah so when you say a prayer and say Amen your saying your prayer to the devil.

  • @polliyoo Right... and so all Christians are honoring the "devil" by saying Amen? What the heck are you coming from??!! Funny how you Christians contradict yourselves so much that it makes you look foolish. Do not start a "devil god" argument with me - your religion MADE the devil. We Pagans (Native American also) believe in no "devil". You falsely labeled our Deities as "devils". Satanism was founded in the '70s, not in Egypt or anywhere else.

  • @celticbattleaxe satanism was founded in the 70s but according to Christianity the devil was a fallen angel and has been existing from before the 70s. and i wasnt speaking about the prayer i was speaking of the word amen, i bet you that the word amen wasnt on this original prayer it was added by the person that made this video.

ps im not a christian, and i wasnt trying to start trouble, sorry if i have offended you in some kind of way, and plus i love the native american culture and hate the EU

  • @polliyoo Well then, sorry for being so defensive, if you will - I have had many experiences with trolls and religious fanatics on youtube.

I don't recognize ANY Pagan god/ddess as related to the "devil" only because the actual belief of a "devil" started when christianity came to Europe, and they used the Cernunnos (Herne, Pan, Cernowain, etc.) as the "devil" to force the Pagans to convert.

I understand what you are getting at, but your description wasn't the original "devil" of christianity.

  • @celticbattleaxe

yeah and i admit thats true, but all i am trying to say, like you told me ass well Christian and catholic religion is bullshit and they use certain things to make people convert into there religion. and what i was saying in my first comment is that amen is word made by these people that not many people understand.

  • @polliyoo It's perfectly OK - I admit I got a little hot-headed (I'm too used to christian troll freaks), but you are correct. :)

  • @polliyoo I should be the one sorry here - I've been in too many religious debates with fools who should be slapped in the face. One of them almost made one of my friends commit suicide.

I respect your interest in the Native American cultures - I live in the US (CT), but man, I also hate it. Not to the point of saying that "this country is a 'hell hole'", but our political system is CRAPPY (thankyou, Obama). I love Nature, and Nature loves me - the US is so crowded. :)

    Blessed be! )0(

  • How beautiful! I am not Native American and the words of this prayer touch me ever so deeply. Thankyou for sharing this.

  • o how beautiful

  • Can anyone tell me more about Ojibwa - I'm from another part of the planet, and accidentaly found this video, and it was beautifull...

  • Awesomeness!

  • I've always loved Indian music, culture, their great love and respect for Nature and poems... MITAKUYE OYASIN.

  • Reaching right to my WIthin. Thanks for posting so we can share this with others. Compassion, Healing and lots of Love sent to our other parts of us in Japan. WE hold you up with strength and Hope. Know you are in our hearts daily. <3<3<3 TO the whole World. :-))))

  • 'Love is an endangered emotion, Logic is an endangered mind, like zoos & tribal sovereignty, penguins 2 polar bears & the serengeti. will they both be fragmented, restricted on reserves 4 entertainment- circus? or perhaps experiments- prison labs, asylum labs or assassinated? which one? pick 1? R there any other options? I am raisin my hand. I 've a LOGICal resolution! LOVE lets give LOVE an opportunity!' Ms Virtuous

  • My Mom sang us Scottish song in Ojibwa. Our tribe came very close to those people who fled over after Collagen's Moor. Even though I am Ojibwa, my music tastes are mostly Irish and Scottish. I love the singing, but I am more into live musicians than electronic music. My daughter is an Ojibwa musician an can use the money.

  • Very nice thanks for sharing. Blessings to you.

  • i am 1/4th cherokee native , i say this prayer every day.

it gives streangth to my soul . oh how i love it !

  • @ashleymallorie

what part of you is 1/4? we are always whole, never fractionated. spirits are not part this or that, they are whole, hearts are whole.

  • Right up there with the "Our Father." Very moving.

  • BEAUTIFUL SO PEACEFUL why cant people get on any more. take a step back and look around open your eyes and see the beauty of our world.. and thank you for posting such a lovley song

  • @skippy1pom1 we are on the being of our extinction, regardless of wether 2012 happens (and a part of me hopes it does for the animals sake) or not the human race is making itself extinct.

  • power of nature :)))

  • just came up on this video very very nice thanks. Best I heard in a long while.

  • My grandfather was Native. I was raised so white I don't even know what tribe. Still, my Native blood called to me. A gracious Odawa Elder took me to her heart as her sister.

I was led to the Good Red Road through Vision, and have been walking it for over twenty years now. This beautiful prayer is a way of life for me, too.

  • @animatqua

This is the path I hope to walk :) This rings such a bell for me. I was adopted, assumed I was white my entire life, until I found my bio family. My grandmother and her line before her are Native, come to find out, but we've lost everything we ever had of her. We no longer know what tribe we come from, although we suspect Cherokee, since we have an idea of where she and our other ancestors lived. I'm hoping to try and find someone who could help me learn.

  • @animatqua i hope you live forever ..

  • hey waagoosh im in a much similar predicament see my great grand mother tought me very little before she died and i dont have anyone else in the family that fallows the traditions of the tribe. i would much appreciate it if u would email me or something at slipknot68_69@yahoo.com and we could maybe share what we know and have a fellow person to learn with

  • @slipknot6869 you can message me on here any time, but i rarely give out my email address. sorry if this is an inconvenience. you can look up a man names Mike Willis, of the Bay Mills Indian Community, he can help you get in contact with elders, maby even tell you things like the stories. i however do not have the right to tell them, its wouldnt be my place since i am so inexperienced in the way of our people.

  • i am ojibiwe, sault tribe, eagle clan, my name is waagoosh (red fox), my family has lost thier anishinaabe path and are now taking more to the irish/scottish uprising we have had, but i choose to carry on my peoples ways as i learn them. one day i hope to be wise enough to teach our way and language to my children and thier children, and to other people. do not feel bad for me, i just thought i would like to share.

  • THE SONG IS ENYA :) very nice video

  • May you always walk in beauty...

  • Megwoiche Neegee. Why is it the names and the words of our people always get underlined by spell check? Manitoumahwhingon, Ojibwa Elder

  • Ojibwe pride! Im an ojibwe but i wanna say a rhyme, poem what ever you may call it :)

Roses are red Natives are brown!! That’s my race So don't put it down!! My Native pride I will not hide My Native race I will not disgrace !!!My Native blood flows hot & true My Native people I will stand by you.Through thick & thin Until the day we die Our Native flags Always stand high

  • why is om shami om in this video -its a quote from India--- not native american at all

  • I am Ojibway :) I've been looking back on my family history lately... I know in my heart how true this prayer is. Perfect.

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS NOT NATIVE AMERICAN, ITS ENYA, EDUBADE, ITS GAELIC!! A EUROPEAN PEOPLE!! ARGHH!!

  • god bless the native americans you have my respect its sad that such a wonderful and rich culture in spirit has been hid from our nation

  • This song is not sung in Ojibwa. It is Irish Gaelic.

  • Beautiful!

  • The prayer & the music are beautiful even though the words are Native American & the song in Gaelic; no need to gussie it up any further with New Age ersatz Buddhism. The Native American prayer is profound on it's own.

  • Can someone upload a non singsong version, this does not even sound Ojibwe, Ojibwe is not a language to be sang like that,

  • Ancient cultures are our teachers... understanding the energies of nature and how we are all connected through energy. This video is a beautiful example. Thanks!

SecretsofAuthenticHealing ~ Jo Lyn Cornelsen RN

  • i love this its so beautiful where did u get this from???

  • Beautiful.

  • this has always been my favorite prayer ever, it took me a while to say it without tears but in this clip the amen and the shanti at the end screwed it up, well the devil has to sign everywhere and claim everything

  • Eh... Not to crap all over this...

The song in this is in Irish (or Gaeilge, if you prefer).

It's a song called Ebudæ by Enya.

    Chorus:

Amharc, mná ag obair lá's mall san oích,

Ceolann siad ar laetha geal, a bhí

Bealach fada anonn's anall a choích.

Irish culture was also suppressed by the British for 800yrs, so it'd be appreciated if you wouldn't plagerise our culture.

At least credit us for God's sake!

Besides, Native Americans surely a rich musical heritage of their own.

  • Hang in there marine

  • nov. 10th was the marine corp birthday and nov 11th was veterans day. i'm a marine combat vet from vietnam and those two days are particularly difficult and put me into a very painful place until several days later when at 5:00am, i ran across ojibwa prayer. played it over and over and posted it on my face book page. from my heart, i thank for the healing. blessings to you and yours....

  • So beautiful <3

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Lovely video. Added it to my faves. Thank you for sharing.

  • Yes the music is Enya, but the Gaelic words have a similar meaning to this prayer.

  • @oakfeathers It is an Old Gaelic work song, sung by women who were weaving; they sang and chanted to the rhythm of their work. The title Ebudae refers to the Gaelic name of the outer Hebrides, the islands off the west coast of Scotland, where this work song originated. Translation:

Look, women working by day and late at night,

They sing of bright days that were,

A long way back and forth forever.

The rest is chanting, with just sounds; no real meaning.

  • beautifull words of wisdom...who are the ojibwa?

  • Ahniin wabishkaanakwad indizhinkaaz, gawiin ojibwemowin.
