Dr. Finkelstein states that Hamas was democratically elected to power.. But I thought they were only elected to parliament. I seem to recall that Fatah was the party in 'power' and that control of gaza by Hamas was taken by force.. Is this not true?

I also think the only reason Palestinians would vote for such an organisation is because of the deliberate and systematic humiliation and persecution they suffer at the hands of Israel. There would be hope of Palestinian right of return, the 1948 borders and all the rest, but it would only happen if America was prepared for fight Israel, and enforce it with the aid of the U.N. forces.
