This video is old but I just picked one up and it does have the capability to scratch with the wheel however it is hard because it is so small. To activate the function you cycle through the button. 1 is to scratch, 2 skip and without it on you can use it to adjust the pitch as you would the side of a turntable platter. To make it work right keep key lock activated.
I have this Controller mapped with traktor pro 2. All I have to say its amazing!!!! It may not be worth 1200 but I got mine for 500. It works flawless, but like he said the sound card isn't analog. So when ur software crashes so does ur mixer. However, it does have a aux in so u can plug in an iPod or mp3 player while ur software reboots.
i kinda feel like the best controller that is both affordable & reliable is the numark mixtrack pro. i got mine back in january and i cant find anything wrong with this thing. if your looking for a controller check out the numark mixtrack pro.
if the software crashes can u still speak on the mic or does it have to run through the software and can u play external devices without the software being connected or do the external devices have to play through the software??
IM selling one new for 700$ contact me through a message and i can send you a paypal invoice with buyer protection, so its not sketchy at all or you can pick it up or call me or somthing.
most scratch djs i know would want to uses turntables anyway ,i went to a store today to look at this unit and IN 's S4 ,witch turnout to be mostly plastic ,for me thats a no go i have events and most dj's seem to tare shit up at least the dx is mostly metal.
@Persianbmw94 Was about to say that. Currently saving money for the S4 i have been looking for a midi controller for a while now and I'm glad i waited :) (but this one looks really nice as well)
its a different kind of DJ experience - scratching isn't the idea. multiple track juggling is the key to this device. Scratching is cool but leave it to the turntablists - besides scratching on anything but turntables or turntable platters looks ridiculous
definitely more portable and user friendly than the 3d or the 4d. the jog wheels are also a pain...you can't scratch on them. not as good as its predecessors. but for the price I think it's worth it.
the way you select the effects couldn't be anymore time consuming. what if you what to add several effects on a song repeatedly..what do you do? scroll through when you have 3 secs for the effect to have 'effect'? please some one get back on me with this because i want to know if you have one..how do you handle that controlling the effects?
since I own the VCI 300, if I chose to add this to my business it would be cool because I could have 6 platters basically, and two of them would be scratchable. For house music through ITCH this is unstoppable. With the Ableton / Serato BRIDGE coming out soon, I could use all at once like a pro. Oh man am I excited to get my hands on this. The clients I have would be impressed!
simple question, although u cant scratch, can u still do backspins, (as in just a flick backwards for that annoying "i just messed up a mix" effect?lol) or does it simply act as a pitch bend?
ARE YOU SERIOUS? The jog wheels don't scratch? They didn't think of it? The technology isn't out there to make it happen? WHAT? OH I get it..... just like every other company they are saving it for the second generation. DX2
this is good, for now, i can't be takin' my cdj2000's to every spot, so this is a nice little midi controller, i can do acappella and some other tracks, looks really good not bad for 12oo
I'm a little bit confused about the pitch faders, are they really necessary, i use traktor pro and ok, you can just use sync buttons and its done, but for example, with two tracks A- 118 bpm and B- 126 after mixing down to the deck B (now 118bmp), while only deck B is playng I want bring the deck B slowly to the original tempo, how can I do that?
This thing is a beast, but the only thing i don`t like is the tiny jog wheels.I don`t mind that they are not touch sensitive because i don`t scratch, but they are just...tiny. :S
yeah.. I think they've made a good step with the 4 deck dedicated mixer section, but it just seems to me that it's not particularly customisable, and so could be fairly limited. Having said that, I really don't know itch atall - but still, Traktor FTW :)
@emendamcg can the xone 3d receive 4 stereo channels throught it sound card? or i need a sepparate 4 stereo out soundcard?
if i only need xone 3d and no extra soundcard, im with you, i prefer analog mixing rather than sending midi to pc and then wait for the audio to come back (but its like +450€ :S )

Thank you for the video.Love Xone 92 for its quad band EQs. Xone DX - maybe not (same price as NS7s). Going with NS7fx now.

i wish they would make one of these mixer+4channels+2 built in players and allow you to hook up a technics and a cd as the second 2 channels.

I like this gear but I feel like Serato is just a step back. Not worth the money. The effects integrated is a step in the right direction.

So I'd like to know.. once THE BRIDGE is released, will I be able to have 2 decks of straight audio and the other 2 being Ableton Live Sets?

@drgrey44
And who do you think would scratch on souch a small wheel? Thats the reason there's phono/line inputs at the back for cd/vinyl players!
DJJayStoneMusic 1 year ago
Doesn't matter they should have the scratch option on it !

They are Xone 4D/3D jog wheels! For cueing tracks or pitch bending you actually don't need any bigger wheels!

I really like the look of this. It's just a shame about the jog wheels being so small...hopefully NI are watching with a Kontrol X2 in mind...
