Angel4eva, you are sadly misinformed. The mayor of Bethlehem is a Christian, fer cryin' out loud! Did you watch the video? You saw what I look like, and the Palestinians in Bethlehem, both Christian and Muslim, were extremely welcoming.
The only things blocking you from going to Bethlehem for a pilgrimage are ignorance and irrational fear. Put your blood on a slow simmer, buy a plane ticket, and go.
After talking to a bunch of folks from Bethlehem and elsewhere in Palestine, it seems to me that there are two main reasons for the demographic changes. The first is the occupation: Palestinian Christians have a much easier time moving to the west, so more of them do. The other reason is the relative birthrates.
Of the two, the Israeli occupation, which is an equal opportunity oppressor, is the bigger factor in forcing Christians out of Bethlehem.
About Hamas "being in control" - as a tourist, you really have nothing to worry about. I'm not some polyanna who things everything is hunky-dory in Palestinian civil society, but as a tourist/pilgrim, you really have very little to worry about from any of the factions, Hamas included.
We must have just missed each other. Your video is well done, kinda putting me to shame now you are. Someday when i can some conversion i will upload what i got but for now i have my images.
angel4eva Bethlehem is my hometown ok my father is Muslim my mom is Christian so is my fathers mother i can assure you that followers of both religions are living in great harmony i got to go there every summer until i was 19 i think what you said is pretty racist and even christians wouldnt like what you said plus Hamas took over the government in gaza only i was there this summer it is perfectly safe over there plus it was full of tourists.
Thanks for the video - really enjoyed it, it filled me with warm feelings... I've lived in Bethlehem as a child, hope I'll be able to visit it next summer.
I miss all of Palestine.
I'm really happy you're learning about Palestine and what's really going on there, such visits are essential...
Muslims: Consider that the next time you go to Mecca to through rocks at the devil; go to Israel border and through rocks over the border: That is more appropriate. We know the Truth: Israel zionists attack Muslims and Christians with the same genocidial purpose. King Solomon (Shalomneh)is the root word for both Arabic and Hebrew: Peace, in the Middle East.
The Tomb of the Holy Sepulchre is still owned by the same family that is recorded in the bible: Christian Palestinian Family. Israeli people, check your zionists that violate every known precept of Judaism: Rule of law- UNSC 242. Blessing and curses, each for specified conduct accordingly. M13-41 is mobilizing forces should it become necessary to force compliance. It is what it is.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO... Just because we fight for freedom, and just because the land is holy, does not mean that we dont lead a normal life.. people like shady are a disgrace.. he is probably a Hamas/Islamic fundementalist supporter.. I love it that we are secular and unlike saudiarabia etc etc... Please do more videos.. Ramallah has a lot to offer.. show students lives etc etc..
Killing palestinians at a ratio of 8 to 1 year after year and then claiming you are the victim of terrorism is simply laughable by any rational, logic religion or creed. NO EXCUSES ARE CREDIBLE FOR THESE LEVELS OF TERRORISM. NOT EVEN THE JEWISH TORAH ALLOWS KILLING BEYOND AN EYE FOR AN EYE!
there no prostitution in mecca or in saudi arabia, lebanon dubai turkey and some parts in the arab world there prostitution for sure, but not at the holy place in mecca people like u idol the devil people like u think that there is nothing wrong with prostitution in bethlehem u have already poison the world dont poison the holy city which u know nothing about and if it takes force to stop devils like u then so be there no choice the soldiers of allah will always give a respones
My point is that if you try to stop some of these things with force, you will stop tourism and with more of a halt to tourism, it might be less likely to have relaxed checkpoints. Hate didn't come about because of the 'western world' what does that even mean that's such a general term. You mean the white man is that what you mean?
yeah i know but peopel will take advantage of it [buisness man] the same thing in iraq well there trying to i just think we need to be more aware and be really smart about this, and summer camps and things like that are excellent, we just should not turn bethlehem in a night life party atmosphere
Yes it's holy place but don't Palestinians like to party? I want to go there for religous reasons but don't be an uptight asshole, and try to ban everything like wine and fashion shows. I doubt there are going to be lots of clubs and prostitutes.
ignorant peopel like u need to understand when it comes to a holy place theres no party. why. because party brings drugs party brings prostitutes party brings violence party can bring hate and jelousy we live in the western world and look what it has become u want a western society and that will never happend
Please are you saying that there is no prostitution in Mecca, Jerusalem, Rome, Santiago De Compestela, and Medina. All of them have prostitutes and violence, ignorant people like you think you can somehow eradicate sin with an iron fist but really, you just sweep it under the rug, it's still there but you just don't look that hard.
Bitch, there is no prostitution in Mecca or Medina. Sadly there could be some in Jerusalem 'cause of Israel. But prostitution it punishable by death in Saudi Arabia.
There are gays in Saudi Arabia like every other country. Hopefully they don't have gay sex. Its a major sin to do that. A bunch of gays tried to get married in Yemen and were arrested. Thats the way it should be, we wouldn't have aids.
Yes, I know. Aids started as a gay and STD disease. But then it went on threw birth and all that. The people in Africa mostly didn't get it as a punishment. AIDS is a punishment, just like Sodom and Gamorah.
That makes no sense what you just said, for who suffer the most from the disease, the poor people of Africa. It is one of the reasons why Africa is a continent of children. What do say to a child who has been orphaned by AIDS? How do you tell the little ones that if they will be lucky if they reach the age of 10!
You tell them its not there fault. You say that you should not have kids if you are HIV + or if you have Aids. You say you need to stop having sex if you have AIDS and just lets AIDS die off!
AIDS is a punishment. Some times the punishment is transmitted to others. The people who have it and did not get it as a punishment just have a deseise***.
No, because poor Africans were the first to get it, not homosexual men in bathhouses.
I'm sorry but a question as this one opens Pandora's Box; I just think maybe you need ask others about this like someone with hemophilia, at the beginning many of them contracted AIDS from blood transfusions. One could ask the question is God punishing them with hemophilia, or with AIDS, but then it is cruel to ponder such a thing.
I have thought long and hard about this. We are both right. It could have started millions of years ago. But, we can both agree that its spreed through sex, birth and blood. So lets just drop it!
[to shady220] OK, I've reflected on this. As a Christian, I do feel that Bethlehem is special, and for that very reason I think that it would be tragic to turn it into some kind of museum, or a hyper-conservative place. I showed this video in Palestine, and while a fashion show under the occupation was a bit surprising to some, nobody reacted the way you have.
I'm glad Bethlehem hosts a fashion show, and I hope it never sinks into narrow-minded conservatism. God bless Bethlehem - all of it.
bethllehem should not be hypnotized to the western culture its a holy land drinking models and all the shit should be banned fore the respect it deserves
I agree that Bethlehem is a special place; I tried to capture a little of that, from my perspective. Bethlehem is also a three-dimension place where real people live: They have kids, and those kids like to go to summer camps. They have a school of fashion (in Beit Sahour), and that school does have a graduation ceremony. Bethlehem isn't just a museum - it's that, and so much more.
Wow! Nice tour of Bethlehem... Sometimes it's easy to forget that all those people are just trying to live regular lives... like us... despite all the horrible bombings, border closings, curfews, and constant fighting.
Thank you for this video :)

I feel that it is a holy place, but rigid Islamic laws shouldn't rule it.

If your not Muslim why should you be there? Jerusalem is for the 2 major world religions and one small one.

Why because I am a Christian and if you have forgotten there are Palestinian Christians, they have every right to land as well!
