Bought a 68 R/T charger at a dealers auction in 1970. It was runing rough pre inspection before the auction, but i thought I would take a chance. I got it for 1100 bucks. The ride home it was sputtering and missing. My friend was a MOPAR expert, he said"I know what it is". he took the distributer apart and the shaft was cracked. eveytime you would speed up the shaft would pull apart. We replaced the shaft and I had the strongest runing 440 in the city. It was a dual pumper Holly1250 .dual points
is that a 318\360 i love mopars i got a 69 dart demon out of criosity y did u use an edlbrock in my opinion if its any thing bigger than a 360 holly 600-750 works great but if its a 318 ur realy much better of using the original 2brl. i know it sounds like a sin but i tryed it with my 318 and i got much better hp with the 2brl than th 4brl i would like ur opinion =3-
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

I can't wait until I see the headlight doors pop up on my '69.....the only times they pop up right now is when I do it by hand. I've yet to drive the car in the 11 years I've owned it.
hi im planning on buying a charger from 69-68 and i have a question... how come that the 426 hemi got 50 more bhp htan the 44magnum??? and how fast does a charger with the magnum go...i know the hemi is about 250 kmh
lol. jk. but yes its about 160 mph, which is roughly 257 kmh for both engines.
And the hemi has 425 hp with the 440 with about 375. (this is stock/realize many of these cars arent restored to stock specs which could change things.)
one of the reasons the hemi was faster was its design. It had a 10.25 compression ratio as opposed to 10.1:1 also.

@santimetur2, I don't like the tail lights on the 68. That's just my opinion. It's still a Mopar no matter wat year.

@DORUKOZKAN, why would you say no to a 70 Charger? I'd sell a 68 or 69 in a heartbeat for a 70.

Hideaways are so cool.
I've had it on a -77 Royal Monaco STW and on a -69 Fury III conv. (optional).
I just can't see it too many times.

Both engines had around 480lb.ft of torque though
