@xjumpforjoyx Aye its scary, but we always know were the rocks are, been jumping here for years and years :) Give it a go on your local Harbour, you'll love it ;)
It's amazing what bored children and stupid adults will do to overcome monotony. There are other ways to get an adrenalin rush. All it takes is a strong wind, a miscalculation, a slip up and you end up on the rocks. You can say you know your limits but anyone can say that until they end up splattered on jagged rocks.
@martyspy84 Like any extreme sport or pastime, there is allways a risk. but thats what makes it so much fun. Yes there is an adrenaline rush and yes there is a certain element of danger attached to it. I have dirt trailed on bmx doing jumps with the bike 15 foot in the air, while doing tricks. I have did motocross, at high speeds, and i have done tombstoning, at pretty amazing heights, My philosophy in life is to enjoy it and full full it to your greatest potential.
not high at all.... and all u people who think these guys are idiots are the real idiots... obviously u cant seek thrill and just stay at home watching youtube... fat shits.
Can't stress enough to only tombstone with pro's. Don't go out on your own trying to second guess tidal depths. YOU WILL DIE. Not that I'm bothered about your pointless deaths. Just gets the rest of us in trouble...
stevewallbridge92: people die from this because they just decide to do it, they have no idea about currents or the depth of the water, ive done it one with an experienced friend in mull AND ITS AWSOM!!
if they check the water level and if theres nothing underneath it; surely its not that dangerous - only if they land wrong. sometimes i dont see the problem; but if coastguards want people to stop they should provide like safe places to do it.
Great jumps. I don't see why people have such an issue with this? It's clear you know your abilitys and know when your pushing it too far. It would take an idiotic person to not check the water level, but sadly there are many people like that. It's still no reson for people to be having a go at you for it.
the currents looks strong!not for me i think! i guess if you guys know what your doing , then fine! ie checking the depth before jumping. looks like a good buzz.
its horrible that people die and get seriously hurt doing this, but i think thats more to do with not knowing what your doing.
LEMMINGS - Stupid idiots risking their lives for no reason whatsoever. Only the young and stupid would do this because they have no understanding of the value of life. if they get killed it is tragic and I feel sorry for their family. Same thing as Russian Roulette.
So why is it then that when I do this I sen grown men jumping with me, clearly its not just "the young and stupid" as you so clearly assume. I myself do have a understanding of life, however this is far from being Russian Roulette as with this we do a great deal of planning. So please better inform yourself before you make knee jerk comments based on what you hear in the news.
Not everyone who does these jumps, jumps into the water without checking how deep it is first. Perhaps you should educate yourself more before you make assumptions based on something you know nothing about ... or perhaps you just like to repeat what you see in the media like a cultural dope? :)
But with 15 deaths and 200 serious injuries a year it's clear that that not everyone is checking how deep it is, and it's also clear that it's not just the media. This is an insane 'sport'.
Where's your source? Indeed it is a shame that not everyone who does this checks the water as I imagine most of these injuries could be avoided. However I disagree, it is just the Media latching onto the latest craze. Its like checking your parachute before you jump, you don't just jump out and assume it will work do you, likewise with this ... we don't just jump and assume we will land safely, we always check the water levels and have had a lot of practise.
I can understand and am certainly prepared to believe that the 'tombstoners' in this video are responsible people; that they checked the depth of the water first etc. But I think they also have a responsibility to warn others not as intelligent as they are that this is a highly dangerous activity. You can imagine the number of dickheads who see this video and then think it's OK to have a few vodkas and then jump off the nearest cliff.
Well you do know that the tombstoners in this video include me, so I can assure you that we've checked the depth of the water before we jumped! Indeed, it seems to have become more popular recently and without people who know what they're doing accidents, can and will happen. I've edited the videos description to include a warning, but I fear that other's will not highlight the risks as I have.
If any idiot wants to take part in this 'sport' then they should first do the following:
1 Ask their friends, family etc if it's OK with them for he or she to be dead or paralysed and to need 24 hour care for the rest of their lives.
2 Be prepared to pay all ambulance and hospital bills - which could run into many many thousands. Why should we have to pay for these idiots to be treated?
If 'tombstoners' agree to these conditions then they can do whatever they like.
Taking risks is part of having fun in life, thousands and thousands of people do this every year, 1 or 2 break their necks, and it goes on the news, as its something the goverment cant controll, unlike childrens playgrounds, which are now pathetic, and no fun...
You might like sitting in an office you never know, you could have the best of both worlds, jump, become a paraplegic, then sit in your wheelchair in an office for the rest of your life.
See, there's always a compromise if you're prepared to negotiate.
We've been Interviewed by the Guardian recently about the Do's and Don't of this Sport, and it seems to be coming more widely accepted which is only a good thing! Just make sure you play it safe out there :)
but its so fun :D we used to do it down our harbour like everyday last summer, until someone drowned doing it. but we never did it when it was rough, but this person did. sam bouyd he was called, you may have seen him on the news.
hey, the guy at 32 seconds, i always see you jumping (the one that waves his feet like mad when he jumps ;)) i love the dive over the mushroom at cliff :D you should film that and put that on here.
4 all u haterz out ther slaggin this video its peoples own choice if they want 2 copy these people. i do it myself (sure it can be dangerous) but its still a helluva lot of fun & we take the risks in before just jumping straight in. unlike some stupid lil kids do. they think they know how deep water is & try 2 act big & they jst end up in hospital. its ther own choice & i support theinfamous69
Yes I've seen all the bad press tombstoning is getting but as far as I'm concerned its nothing new, not that I'd consider doing it now, but me and friends used to jump off that same headland 20 years ago, and also off of the harbour wall down the road, there's always going to be bad press for anything thats an adrenaline buzz, but you have to plan it and know what your doing.
That must take a lot of guts!! Nice one guys. The only problem I can see with it is that the public services would have to be used if something goes wrong - but then this is prob no more dangerous than driving down a motorway which most people do every day.
gud stuff lads, got some nice jumps there. check out our vid called on my profile called 'dogging' very similar to tombstoning, you'll enjoy it. peace
It's great to see you guys tombstoning as safely as possible. Wet suits and boots and not drunk like everyone in the press seems to think you must be. Join in the debate at tombstoning dot com
Jesus, what is it with people reacting to the media? If you lads called yourselves "professionals " then they would say you were being brave but instead you are the idiots that are responsible for deaths.
Yes ... I can see how I made all of these people, most of whom did probably not even see this video got their idea's to jump from here ... stop being so closed minded ... if you don't like it, you don't have to watch it. Seem there are to many girly whiner's here ... But thanks to all those who have commented positvely on this video :)
Maybe i'm taking your reply wrong, but i meant that positively and against the pricks that actually do believe the media and think you are responsible for the idiots copying you. I think it's awesome.
Stupid Idiots like this will be a nail in the coffin for Youtube, or for the Devastated parents of someone who watches these Idiots and thinks I can do that.
hey assholes.. ur the reason why young teenagers are dyin in this day and age cos you show this.. but dont tell of the dangers of doin this tombstoning jump, if you look and see how many young people are dyin trying to copy this.. ud take these viedos off the net. if not .. ur jus heartless twats.
Youngsters have been warned against risking their lives by leaping 30ft from a bridge into the River Ouse. The warning comes from the Environment Agency after footage of youngsters "tombstoning" in St Neots was filmed and put on the YouTube website.
The trend for tombstoning - jumping off cliffs, piers, harbour walls or other high points into water - has claimed a number of lives around the UK. Anyone caught jumping into the river will be issued with a £50 fine or a coffin.
A middle-aged man drowned and another was seriously injured when they jumped into the sea off a pier in Essex, in a stunt known as "tombstoning".
The two men - both believed to be in their 40s - were found face-down in the sea by lifeboat crews after jumping off a pier at Clacton, Essex, on Saturday.
when i do it i go down to the water first and test it, if i been there before then you just get tide times and chech tidal height ffs. nt tht hard so yes we do know how deep the water is. But now should just throw you in first to find out
Just a bunch of guys jumping off cliffs into the sea, I've been coasteering a number of times and all we do is this all day. BIG DEAL, It's fun but not extreme..lol..
I love tombstoning, if anyone ever finds themselves in Menorca, make sure you check out Cala'n Forcat, near Cuitadella - it's a fabulous cove for this, from beginners with 20ft drops, right up to ~80fts, and all flat-bottomed, nice and deep, too. And the scenery's killer, too!
I love how everyone pretends to know everything about this ... until you've done it for yourself, or watched myself do it ... I don't expect you to understand ... how can you?
For all those people slagging these guys off and saying they are stupid, I think you will find it is their life and if they want to do some fun stuff then whose to stop them. From what most of you are saying we may as well stay in our house, you can die doing anything. There is loads of extreme sports, many of which I do that have risks, but there aint many things that are fun which don't have risks. I think this is awesome!!! Whats the point in doing nothing fun your whole life!!
Thanks for the *Positive* Feedback ... Its in Newquay at Porth during the summer months, these video's don't do justice to how high these jumps actually are though ... hopefully making another video soon which will show some new one's and these but filmed from the bottom ;)
No, we are not idiots ... the amount of planning that goes into this, let alone checking the water to see how deep it is, are they any obstructions ... And when you've been doing this all for 3 years you know your stuff. Your seeing a one sided story from the News about all the negative aspects. However I'm sure many of you will be to narrow minded to understand this and merely call me "stupid" well I call you stupid for not seeing the whole picture and assuming ...
Nothing special about this, and as for people complaining about how stupid it is, so is smoking, drinking and taking drugs, they will all kill you too! I say if people want to risk their lives in this way, so what?!
Trilbymassive, you silly little boy - for that is what I assume you are. Try being the person telling a mother that her beloved son's body has been smashed to bits on the rocks. This is not big or clever - just stupid.
amazing! some fucking nobbers complaining about how sad it is! they dnt care its something they enjoy its better than hanging around in groups being patranising! some people always love to have something to moan about!
what these guys trying to Achieve? Are the hoping someone will come along and give them a stunt job in a movie? Get real guys,,just live life,,the safe way!!
are u a saftey inspectors who hates peolpe havin fun? get reall mate u fukin dick, coz no body's the same. just because u sit at home playing safe on ur playstation, doesnt everybody's like u.
Yeah man you do here "stories" of idiots who don't check to see how deep the water is and assume its deep enough, but they are big enough and stupid enough to look after themselves :) what you don't see in this video is me checking how deep the water is 5 times, because I thought it was a bit dull :P Don't believe everything you read man ;-)
Yeah man that was me! I did it as a joke to make them all think I was hurt but they knew I was kidding, or perhaps they thought I was hit and still laughed :o !
Woah you guys have guts. Do you ever get scared about hitting the rocks?
Looks pretty fun though... dont know if id be able to bring myself to do it...

I say if people want to risk their lives in this way, so what?!
keukpa 4 years ago
Trilbymassive, you silly little boy - for that is what I assume you are. Try being the person telling a mother that her beloved son's body has been smashed to bits on the rocks. This is not big or clever - just stupid.

leathstitch 5 years ago
Yeah man you do here "stories" of idiots who don't check to see how deep the water is and assume its deep enough, but they are big enough and stupid enough to look after themselves :) what you don't see in this video is me checking how deep the water is 5 times, because I thought it was a bit dull :P Don't believe everything you read man ;-)
