Carrie Fisher was indeed part of "Agnes of God" starring Geraldine Page having replaced last minute-casting notice actress Amanda Plummer in December 1982 thru to Spring 1983 at the Musicbox theatre, New York. Google-search for confirmation I have original magazine interview from the time and also on ebay rare playbill programs with Fisher-Page-Agnes of God can be found. I did NOT mean the 1986 film version with Meg Tilly and Jane Fonda.
@soupful She still smokes. Regardless if it is vapour, or cigarettes. Still, your point doesn't account for the many years of it before. Besides, smoking the vapour, does not necessarily make such a habit more pleasant, nor healthy for those all around who don't. Not to mention, does nothing to improve the husk in one's voice.
@KJOSCOT I had no idea Im sorry im a smoker myself trying upteenth times to quit good to know about the vapour electric thingy I was considering it myself and was unaware of it being as harmful as smoking itself. The nicabate patches make one ill( nictotine absorption) thru skin (ughh) and so to do the nicabate chewing gum (yuck). Im still working on it
@soupful Wow. It is an uphill battle, and I do feel for you. My Mum quit cold turkey, and I have to say hats off to you for trying. I heard that the 'water vapour' contains similar compounds found in antifreeze. Anyone correct me, if wrong. The great issue with the smoking outside of the addiction is, the mental hand-habits associated with it, as well as the cravings for that vaso-constriction caused by the nicotine. Smoking or not, I like Carrie Fisher and her wit. She really came a long way.
@soupful Do you have a heart condition, or a family history of such? If so, you must quit because the aforementioned vaso-constriction can further increase your odds of an attack. Also, using those transdermal patches must be a nuisance, and can be irritating, yes? I heard the gum can give people headaches. You apologised? Why? I was not offended by any means. The whole idea of these posts is for all of us to speak our minds in regards to the subject. I wish you well. Keep up the good fight.
@KJOSCOT NO none genetic deformities or heart condition however I am an average male of 43 yrs old still look boyish but I AM astmatic so all the more imperative to quit and STAY quit. I began smoking at age 16 unfortunately.
@soupful Asthma cannot afford the lungs to continue to have vaso-constriction. Yes. It must be done. It is a process and will take some time, but you must believe you can, then you will. Best wishes to you, and God Bless.
@MrPeteoutlaw Despite being a smoker the actual reason for her voice was due to her stint as "Agnes of God" in 1983 in which she harmed her vocal chords and inflamed them from demands of the role. She had to drop-out of her scheduled run and have minor surgery as a result.
@soupful@MrPeteoutlaw ...But Carrie Fisher was NOT part of the cast of "Agnes of God". Tobacco and substance abuse are enough reasons to explain the damage in a person's vocal chords. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later. Look at Liza Minnelli for example.
@ovimavi Carrie replaced Amanda Plummer in title-role in december 82 thu spring 1983 at Musicbox Theatre, New York on stage with Geraldine Page. Playbill programs are on ebay for sale I did not mean to confuse you with 1986 movie starring Meg Tilly-Jane Fonda.
@MrPeteoutlaw As said surgery on her vocal chords in 1983 plus comination thereafter of smoking heavily and whatever else who knows? Visit her facebook page or offical website and ask her. She's very nice with fans and replie's where she can time permitting. Try
