Judging from what I have said below, we can conclude that you were initially going to have 8 health, and that this is a beta snapshot. But Nintendo decided to be jerks and cut it to 3. That's just annoying.

Also, I think my two comments on this video are the only ones on the whole of Youtube to be spelled correctly and use proper punctuation and grammar. That just shows the IQ of some of the internet surfers nowadays.....

I don't think that 3 health points were too less, with 8 the entire game would have been way too easy. Aside from the fact that I found it too easy as it was with 3 health points. Also, I think the game was too short.

And thus showing you you're not the only one with a brain here. :)

If you look closely, Mario's face looks slightly different in this picture. Also, Mario appears to be flying off from a different angle from the volcano (angled slightly to the left) than the direction he flies off in the finished game (straight at the screen). Also, you can see that at the health bar there are not two discs of health, which appear when you get a Life Shroom. You can also see that the 5 is divided into 5 blue chunks. Also, there aren't Life Shrooms up to this point in the stage

Well, the picture is really an in-game snapshot. But with an live mushroom ya see 2 double round health-boxes, the 1 hiden at the box that shows 6 lives. Could be pasted in the snapshot.

@MrPenguinPerson Actually, it was a picture from the beta, they were planning on having 8 life, and making the damage system similiar to Mario 64 (most enemies deal 1, lava deals 3), but ended up deciding to just make it 3 life, with everything dealing 1 damage, and mushrooms added to jump from 1-3 life to 6, and then healing to 6 if you had bonus health already.

It's called "Hell Prominence". This (Hell Prominence) was actually the name for this galaxy in the Japanese version of SMG. What would be the harm in putting a word that isn't much of a swear in a game meant for kids?

Simple - levels in Mario have for a while followed a Seuss-ish trend: stuff like Hazy Maze Cave, Tick Tock Clock, Drip Drop Galaxy, Melty Molten Galaxy... you get the picture. "Hell Prominence" would seem out of place.

Mario seems to be associated with fire and flames, in all the mario games he has had some sort of fire attack and this game is no different. I suppose its because fire embodies courage and mario has the most courage in all the mushroom kingdom and beyond.
