Well, I plan on replaying 1 and 2 so I can get all 108 characters. I never got to do the save file from 1 transfer where you meet the hero of 1. But about this video... I'm interested in getting my characters strong and all, but playing it over again just to level characters up to 99 is kind of boring. Unless you plan on using those characters to play the game with more ease, then that's understandable. But I wouldn't level all the characters. Too much time consuming and a waste IMO. lol.
There is ONLY one game in the entire WORLD better than this game! That game is Final Fantasy VII! There is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO better game other than Final Fantasy VII! NOT ONE! Suikoden II goes for more then $100.00 on ebay and Amazon but it is FAR FAR worth it! I do own a copy and have owned the copy since 2006 but IF (wont) I wanted to sell it I could get my money back VERY EASY. I do play COD Black Ops and other such games but if I was to choose 2 games for eternity...FF7 and Suikoden 2!
The easiest way to do this: Revenge Earth, whether from scrolls courtesy of Raura or the Earth Rune. It gives 100% dodge and counter-attack rate for three turns. Just re-use on the third turn.
Your desired character should be level 49 and with a Fortune Rune equipped to shoot up to level 99.
There are also characters that may join you at level 99 due to a bug that affects characters whose levels are based on the hero's level. These are Hoi, Long Chan Chan, Mazus, Pesmerga, and Georg Prime.
@iceman031988 This trick is available only for level 39 characters, level 49 if you have a Fortune Rune. Guardian Deity combination is Rabbit/Turtle/Rabbit/Turtle.
There are high level characters like Genshu who is already level 49 at recruitment, but does not have any free rune slot, rendering this trick impossible for his case.
Another way to do this, even before L'Renouille, is to take Futch and Humphrey to Mt. Rakutei after the liberation of Rockaxe and fight a group of 6 Pixies.
Lol i got to level 20 at the start of the game ahahahahahaha i didnt jump the cliff kept doing that for like an hour and a half ahahahaha every time i get a chance to fight highlanders i pray those options are there were you get to stay and fight XD . and by the way this game is the best Under rated RPG game EVAR!!!!!!!
@SuperHero346 i did not hear about that trick but i did find out how to use it on my own! it is great! the stat stone trick allows you to keep each stat you use after all your entire party dies and then restarts from the last save. it is great!
I thought it's best to put in just Riou and a low-level recruit and then level up the other recruit that way. Just weaken Riou to 60 HP or under and have him use LV4 Blue Gate on the same team of Highlands. Meanwhile, have the recruit equipped with a Sacrificial Jizo before going into this battle.
at what lvl do i get my main character to wear a rune on head slot? my main char got the obvius shield rune + water rune and im waiting for head slot for ressurection rune

If you're using a higher level character, repeat at L'Renouile with 6 soldiers

No. I got the same results on a copy of Suikoden II without loading data from Suikoden I. It's a bug involving the mechanism that adjusts the level of a recruit proportionately to the level of the main character.
This game is one that never ever needed leveling. Possibly the easiest RPG around IMO. Don't get me wrong though, 11 years on and it's still my favourite RPG of all time.
Especially in like, Final Fantasy X when you do the triple ap weapons and kill sin in 3 hits. XD It makes it THAT much better. Only, you have to work really hard to get that done. I can say I did it and that Sin got his ass kicked by a bunch of girls. (Rikku, Lulu, and Yuna)
Leveling is IMPORTANT! :D <3 (I've heard that girls have more patience for these things...but I could be wrong. :D)
leveling is almost never required. With a good strategy most all bosses can go down with relatively low levels. Ive heard of a game beaten by lvl 8 characters (the original FF).
They normally do, but not nearly as much as people would normally think. Every RPG ive played had people doing Low Lvl runs/no sphere grid/no license board/starting equipment only/etc.
The person that beat FFI with lvl 8 chars died well over 300 times on just the final level/boss. I just wanted to give an example of low level games.
Right before the final dungeon, you can get 80's-ish from the door glitch early on (that's how my Riou is 80-whatever), but you don't have many characters available at that point to do it with.

@Darkzeven66 There is a door that leads to the Matilda area above muse, with 2 knights around it. If you walk up to this door, you can actually push the door out of the frame, and enter that area. I got to level 80 from killing a group of 6 enemies with Riou by himself at a very low level (like 12-18) on the mountain where go with futch and humphrey.
@Retribution235 i figured out that glitch by accident during my first play through back in the day. I was like wtf? I can just push the gate open?. It was very weird. But when i got to the other side i ran into a battle and got wiped out in like 1 round. and i said to myself oops i guess i'm not supposed to go there yet.then during my 2nd playthrough i got futch and humphrey and had them kill the bad guys. Its very strange because thats the only way to get jowy his level 4 spell.
I actually recorded this from my physical copy + playstation with a TV tuner, so I have no idea how the sound emulation works with this game (on I assume epsxe).
Hey a thought just came to me, If there are two people alive in the party the EXP gets split in half (Right?) then if the character is 39 and has a fortune rune he/she gets double, negating the split right?
Of course then there's no way the 39'er will survive but then if Hero and/or The 39'er has a Rage/Fire rune and uses the most powerful spell to wipe them out, then there's no need for worry.
If they were to gain 60,000 total it would be split between the two. Meaning the one with the fortune rune would still gain 600,000 and the other would gain 30,000 from what I understand. Would be interesting to test to clarify
it is possible to get all 108 stars to lvl 99 whit this glitch? example when you recruit pesmerga he have 5 lvls more than hero so at least you have lvl 34, defeat luca whit this lvl pretty hard
It's probably possible. There are some other enemies that give more exp and with a fortune crystal. I know you can do this at 49 with a fortune crystal, so you could use 44 as your base, instead of 49. Your best bet might be to just have the hero in in the mid 80's or so and have him absorb all the exp from the fights by killing off all your party members.
This happened to me accidentally with Millie while I was using the Matilda border glitch. Had a level 99 character before my frist trip to Muse, was pretty cool.
the best way to level a character to 99 is having a fortune crystal, sacrificial jizo and a magician that has a blue gate rune with "Empty World" magic. you can bring 6 people. just let them die with the empty world magic. with the sacrificial jizo equipped on your desired character, he/she will be revived from death.
then the only character alive gets all the exp.(note, with the fortune rune, the exp gained of the character is doubled)and then BOOM!!!instant level 99.
@blob1024 The level up count is not capped. To train most of the 108 stars, I would always take only one of them with Hero, and then I'd simply have Hero cast a spell like "Charm Arrow" (Resurrection rune) on a large group of enemies.
I remember that in Rockaxe castle, a level 41 character would jump to level 66 or so (without the Fortune rune) when I battled 6 Matilda knights this way. I also got some characters to reach level 99 by using aldritz13's method in L'Renouille. It's not capped ;).
ok i dont know who gae me the thumbs down for stating that a few characters got to lvl 99 when i first got them. but whatever the bottom line is that there is a bug in the game that somewhere,somehow a few later chars like georg join at lvl 99.
Go in a battle with Six highland soldiers in L'Renouille or in the secret path in Rockaxe. Then have everyone except the person you want to level up to level 99 be unconscious (zero HP). And have that person kill the six highland soldiers. Then it should work. But, the character has to be level 49 or under.
i left my game for the weekend by accident and saved, loaded the game and each character had gone up 30 or so levels. It was near the end of the game though, after liberating greenland i believe.
i think its not a glitch its because when georg join the army it will always be +10 or 15 higher lvl than the hero i already forgot but thats what it is when they join the army they are higher lvl than the hero
There are certain characters that a glitched that will sometimes join at level 99. This has never happened to me, but I've heard it can occur with Georg, Hoi, Pesmergia, and some others.
oh thats exactly what happened then because I dont even remember actually lvling georg that high and I heard of that glitch but never occured to me that is what happened until now. thanks.
i finished it many times if you think georg is a beast there's more powerful than him that's pesmerga he can be seen in the top of "cave of the wind" u need the maximum level of your castle up to 5floor on elevator but there's other room up to sixth floor
I've suikoden multiple times but i've never attempted the level 99 trick... I just never really understood how to you get L'Renouville before the final battle....or.. when your lv 39.... how do you do it? its silly but i never understood how to... and i'd love to try this trick once....
An alternative to this is just taking Riou(hero) and the lvl.39 to battle. Give Riou the firefly rune(dropped by air lizards in the path to Tigermouth) so all the enemies just attack him and double-beat so they do more dmg. Then, give the lvl.39 char. a bunch of denfense stuff and a wind rune. I find 'the shredding' better than the fire runes, but either way it kills em all off. I got a bunch of chars. to 99 this way.
Yeah, there are a couple of things you can get so Riou takes the hits- Skunk runes, mole suit, and the blue ribbon accessory. However my problem was that Riou was dodging everything and counter attacking all the melee, so the fire lizard rune was the best choice for me.
Thanks. I got the fire-lizard rune from the Sindar ruins behind the White-Deer Inn. You technically don't need it, but it makes it a lot easier if the Hero isn't dodging and countering all the enemies when you're trying to kill him off.

now that I'm disbelieving, the early FFs were dragon quest like in their steep levelling.
Lots of games do require levelling. With suikoden the only example i can think of though is before the zombie dragon in suiko 1

The Fire Lizard rune on Riou's weapon is what killed him. He was too hard to kill for the enemies, so that was there to speed things up.

ok i dont know who gae me the thumbs down for stating that a few characters got to lvl 99 when i first got them. but whatever the bottom line is that there is a bug in the game that somewhere,somehow a few later chars like georg join at lvl 99.

the same thing happens to me.
I recruited, Georg, Anita, Hoi, Gantetsu and Mazus at lv.99 before.

Go in a battle with Six highland soldiers in L'Renouille or in the secret path in Rockaxe. Then have everyone except the person you want to level up to level 99 be unconscious (zero HP). And have that person kill the six highland soldiers. Then it should work. But, the character has to be level 49 or under.

i left my game for the weekend by accident and saved, loaded the game and each character had gone up 30 or so levels. It was near the end of the game though, after liberating greenland i believe.

Manus, Georg, Hoi, L.C Chan, and Pesmerga all join me at lvl 99...is that suppose to happen? My Character was between level 40-50 when I got them.

It could just be a calculation error that was in older builds of epsxe

i think its not a glitch its because when georg join the army it will always be +10 or 15 higher lvl than the hero i already forgot but thats what it is when they join the army they are higher lvl than the hero

I need to try this trick...ended suiko2 a bunch of times but never got my characters to lvl 99, think only georg but I forgot how he got that high.

There are certain characters that a glitched that will sometimes join at level 99. This has never happened to me, but I've heard it can occur with Georg, Hoi, Pesmergia, and some others.

oh thats exactly what happened then because I dont even remember actually lvling georg that high and I heard of that glitch but never occured to me that is what happened until now. thanks.

I had all those characters plus Anita start at 99. I never realized it was a glitch.

i finished it many times if you think georg is a beast there's more powerful than him that's pesmerga he can be seen in the top of "cave of the wind" u need the maximum level of your castle up to 5floor on elevator but there's other room up to sixth floor

I've suikoden multiple times but i've never attempted the level 99 trick... I just never really understood how to you get L'Renouville before the final battle....or.. when your lv 39.... how do you do it? its silly but i never understood how to... and i'd love to try this trick once....

An alternative to this is just taking Riou(hero) and the lvl.39 to battle. Give Riou the firefly rune(dropped by air lizards in the path to Tigermouth) so all the enemies just attack him and double-beat so they do more dmg. Then, give the lvl.39 char. a bunch of denfense stuff and a wind rune. I find 'the shredding' better than the fire runes, but either way it kills em all off. I got a bunch of chars. to 99 this way.

Yeah, there are a couple of things you can get so Riou takes the hits- Skunk runes, mole suit, and the blue ribbon accessory. However my problem was that Riou was dodging everything and counter attacking all the melee, so the fire lizard rune was the best choice for me.

I have never been 80lv.and 99lv.only in my dreams.So to do this everyone in youre party must die,only one character with lv.39 must stay.
And one question:Nanami can be saved?

Thanks. I got the fire-lizard rune from the Sindar ruins behind the White-Deer Inn. You technically don't need it, but it makes it a lot easier if the Hero isn't dodging and countering all the enemies when you're trying to kill him off.
