very inspiring, I luv watching vids like this, just goes to show even NY can grow yummy things. so far I've managed 2 grow sweet basil, rosemary, lavender, geranium, valerian, oregano, pansies, sweetpea flowers (for beauty & to attract bees), lemons, limes, roses in a very small area!!
Wonderful raised beds, but those paths are so narrow! It's a hard balance between utilizing the space for production and having enough room to get access to the beds. My raised beds will have a bit more space between them. But, I admit, I have more overall space available to use, so it's easier for me to have wider paths. I've always planted in the ground in the past, but I'm in the process of converting to raised beds.
HEY HOW ABOUT WE ALL DO THIS? IMAGINE TURNING WASTED TIME PLAYING COD AND WATCHING THE TELLY INTO A BACKYARD FARM WHERE YOU COULD EAT FRESH FOODS AND GROW THEM AS A HOBBY. ITS LIKE YOUR OWN LITTLE WORLD SO GOOD
Im 14 and i try do do backyard farming, but my parents wont let me do it and they dont tell me why. We have a 1000sq. ft. backyard and they let me use a small 4'x6' of space and the rest of the backyard is full of junk. Any suggestions?
@9rascon keep explaining to them why they need to do backyard farming. show them videos like this one, and keep convincing them in a positive way. most people are scared of change, even if they know it is a good change...normalcy bias. people have a hard time getting out of their comfort zone.
I want to do this too! I don't have a garden and I am so angry all the gardens around me that are just waisted and fileld with garbagebags and old furniture. :(
Stacy, your passion is so evident and your story is very inspiring! You are a beautiful person inside and out. I hope that your project is a great success.
Congratulations! There is NO beginning too small! All movements begin with someone doing what they know is right. And it is our right yet to grow our own food, although unless we are vigilant and SPEAK UP even this freedom may be lost to privatizing politicians and their friends: The Corporations like Monsanto! Be a Freedom Fighter today: plant some FOOD using open pollinated seeds and resist evil and greed like Monsanto!
I so love what you are doing and I am pleased to see so many people taking responsibility for feeding themselves and learning to do it. Children need to learn this most basic and important skill.
it's all conceptually dope n all, but those GMO seeds are all over the world, that's the bigger issue. the next biggest issue must be the fact that the FDA is pushing towards control of all organic farms across the nation, which means GMO produce will be extremely difficult to reverse when 90+ percent of the seeds on the planet are pre-owned, patented, cancerous, artificial.. it's like the damn Patriot Act for our food..
1) I feel her passionate tears at the begining. This is sooo much more than farming, it is the core movement to sovereignty... to freedom, TRUE fredom from all tyranny!
The next step is to get all humans a piece of their own land, after all they were born here it is a right to freedom! It is WHOLLY FALSE that we are overpopulated. We may be overpopulated for an external tyranical control system,...
@SurfenSpace Just do it, man. It's easy. improve the soil with fallen leafs and composted grass clippings. Recycle all garden waste. put it back in the soil.
2)... but we are perfect for a Divine stewardship of this sacred garden Earth. Land is ABUNDANT when tended to properly and not used for giant corporations and military sectioning. Land is FREE and all should be welcome to call a pice of it HOME. We were not meant to live in compartmentalized hives, but to steward nature in it's grand expanse! <3
i sure love this...wanna do..pondered for a while..did do this way back when..but now its so discouraging ...
too bad the yielded seed =if any= likely dormant..if we could sustain using generational seeds..monsanto said NOWAY- among other things-..plus, imagine a sky full of chem trails knockin out any chance of a crop...go ..plant..grow..eat..salvage any seed..replant within the correct time...wait...watch.....................all yielded from apathy. lifes good, I SAW the salad dressing.
Didn't Obama's new farm bill make this illegal. I've heard of the government going after people just for giving away extra produce from their garden. And I know their are laws stating that market produce must be hybrid! I don't want any trouble from the government.
I need some support I want my own Hydroponic greenhouse here in the Heart of STL, but Im having problems getting started. Im not asking for money Im asking anyone from stl with Ideas. How to get those dollar plots and grants..Help and thanks for posting this video. thanks for doing work!!!!!!!
@foodcurated I was growing an organic onion in the kitchen by just living it in the water and it grewroots out the bottom and then put it outside so it could get more light but even though it is supposed to be organic, it is still quite large and I cannot tell if it is.
@foodcurated i was in egypt and i saw people using public unused space to grow foor to sell.....one guy used to public park that was neglected and turned it into a large veg farm...he worked there with his kids all day and they made decent living from it....it supplied fresh veg to the neighborhood at less cost and the guy saved himself from unemployment.....the park was about 5000 square meters
