What's Jumpin' Off?! FLASHBACK late 60-early 70's; From the bowels of 1 of the worse ghettoes in America-Camden, NJ across from Philly, Me, known as Psychedelic! The Black Brother. Peace & love turning on many. Sunshine. Mescaline. Mushrooms. Haze. House partying w/ the flashing lights & dancing girls; stereophonic headphones made that ghetto glitter! Remember nights of Spectrum dance concerts, Door's Open in Camden, OG JFK Stadium & it all ended at Camden Co College '75-'78
I knew these guys at the time, we drank in a pub in the middle of Blackheath, drank coffeee in Lee High Road late at night and one of these people slipped me acid when they supported the band Yes at an all nighter at the Lyceum around 1970 or 1971. Mick lives in Bexhill which is a notorius elephants graveyard. Steve's gone loopy, so I hear and Andy and Del - I have not a clue.
1970 was a year, where this kind of music starts around the world. Why this guys made not more LP`s. Frank Zappa I can hear you. Your Rock must turn them on, to made this.
Why couldn't these guys make it huge in the States, this song definitely deserves to be heavily played on the Classic Rock stations, this song just totally rocks!
i met some guy in a car park who recommended this (i was wearing a hendrix t-shirt) and i'm so glad he did because this is amazing. if you ever read this dude, thanks :)
I'll never forget the first time I've heard this song on a SIRIUS radio station 16 The VAULT which plays deeper classic rock, this song is one of the reasons why I love prog rock.
Incredible. 'Retribution' has to be the best prog album of all time. Five incredible tracks that just blow the mind away. Bought it when it came out and still listen to it to this day. Thanks for changing my life guys. Regards
I also bought the album in 1970 when I was 17after hearing best suit on john peels radio show, I have been a musician since and the guitar playing on that song has influenced me greatly...Now I'll need to go and dig this album out the attic and remmenisce. THANK YOU MICHAEL
In 1970, when I was 22 !! I bought that "Retribution vinyl-LP-it was an insider-tip in Germany.I lost it someday and I was very happy to get that CD version in 1996.
Now I'm 60 !!! and "Death the lover" is still one of my very favourites.I'm very happy to grow up with that fine music in the 70's - all good songs have been written. And today's music ? Better no comment !!
